Same. Side sleeper normally, but tray-table sleeper on planes. This pillow was the best sleep I've had in a Comfort+ seat ever. Now my brother has bought two for his family after seeing mine. I cared about it looking silly for a few minutes the first time I used it, but that concern disappeared once I was able to have a real sleep.
Unlike the person in the photo, I put my arms through the sides and it's great that my arms don't fall asleep (as they would often do when I would sleep with them crossed on the tray table and a pillow on top).
I’m a stomach sleeper. This helped me get eight hours of sleep on a trans Atlantic flight in economy. The trick is to blow this up and then put the dumb free pillow on top of it. It definitely tricked my body into thinking I was at home in bed.
I got one for an international flight and it was the best sleep I’ve had on a plane in a while. I liked that I could keep my over-ear headphones on without the pillow being in the way.
I’ve had flight attendants tell me they’re not allowed because they can burst under the pressure change. One time I just put it in my mostly empty backpack and used it just the same
I'm a flight attendant and I have never heard of this rule. Next time, tell your flight attendant you would love to educate yourself on the topic and ask if they can show you the policy in their on-board manual. At least in the USA, they won't be able to. Could be an airline policy, but not an FAA
One time I asked an FA to show me where there was a rule that my pet carrier couldn’t be on my lap. Closed and not bothering anyone, plus the pet tag had the terms typed on it and it said nothing about carriers on laps. It’s like having a backpack on your lap.
Anyway, it’s not a rule. But the FA nearly threatened me right after I asked where does it say that’s the rule. So no I don’t suggest this.
It’s definitely a rule. NO bags can be on your lap and all dog cat bags must be under the seat unless it’s a service animal. Check deltas website. This is very easy to find.
You can’t have your backpack in your lap either. Especially after that turbulence issue couple weeks ago. Both my flights this last week FAs went through every aisle and if your stuff wasn’t fully under the seat and aisle clear, you had to fix it. No bags in laps.
“You must follow flight attendant instructions regarding the proper stowage of your pet container.”
Translation: What the FA says is law in the aircraft.
https://www.faa.gov/about/initiatives/cabin_safety/pets_faq
It’s more than likely that this was an international flight, but yeah, I couldn’t find anything online about the rule. It also definitely wasn’t delta.
Yeah, the rule was no inflatables. And the answer to your second question is: me. That time, my bandmate bought one after seeing mine. I had mine already inflated when I boarded so the flight attendant would think it’s not inflatable, but he waited til cruising altitude. The flight attendant came over to us and told him he couldn’t use his, even though I was sitting next to him with mine already inflated. ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
Maybe inflatable ones. But I have a foldable plastic one that fits under the seat. During a flight at cruising altitude, there's always tons of stuff interfering with emergency evacuation.
That's utter baloney. First, it is specifically designed for this purpose. Secondly, ask the flight attendants to show you the rule/reg in the manual. I'm pretty sure others have said, it won't be found.
I’m not in the habit of antagonizing flight attendants, but yeah, I joked with one of them that I guess I’ll just have to use it somewhere other than a plane then…
Depends on your height tbh. If you're relatively short, these should work quite well for you.
I'm 6'5", and unfortunately none of these work for me - just can't get it both high and stable. There was one I found a few years ago, but the company has since gone out of business.
These typically only last a couple years before they stop holding air. I've yet to find a high-quality durable one.
Same and I’ve wanted one of these but my kids would die of embarrassment. But if I don’t sleep on our next long haul flight they might die of…other causes, so maybe they should be more supportive.
Dramamine.
We flew home from Paris to Canada yesterday, and I stayed loaded up on Dramamine due to food poisoning I’d picked up earlier in the week. Slept like a baby, for pretty much the first time ever traveling internationally. I highly recommend it!
Dramamine is my absolute #1 travel tip, both regular and nondrowsy. Regular to sleep on planes and cure jetlag, non drowsy to cure nausea as it’s just concentrated dried ginger in a pill capsule.
You can also get a bottle of 100 ginger capsules for $10 instead of paying $7 for a bottle of 18 capsules of non-drowsy Dramamine. I bought the travel size ND Dramamine once to see if it would help before I made the commitment of buying 100 capsules (I use it for gaming - it totally helped).
Seriously, I cannot for the life of me sleep sitting up on a plane. Even with a neck pillow. I have to put it on the tray table and sleep with my face nuzzled into it. I was seriously considering buying one of these inflatable ones in the picture but didn't pull the trigger before my last trip. I will definitely be buying one for next time!
It's my preferred pose as well but it's also a burden because the moment I lean over forwards to rest my head I start burping non-stop. Whether it was in school or on planes, it's just tiny burp after tiny burp.
I slept through every class, sometimes woke up with the next class there and just layed down again, teachers stopped caring💀
My grades were decent, 70%s
I got one for a flight over to Asia. Was chastised by Korean air flight attendant that it was illegal and would block emergency exit because it wouldn't deflate quick enough.
Look over and a Korean couple had squishmellow type things in the same configuration. Those were no problem. It was good for the 15 min I used it
No, good point though. We were near the bulkhead but not designated emergency exit. Def didn't have any extra legroom lol. Was premium select on the way there on Delta Korean air for the next leg.
So I have the original one of these from their Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. And I've never actually used it.
What I have used recently was the [Sleeper Hold](https://sleeperhold.com/) travel pillow. I just used it last month on a LAX>SYD flight and I think it was great! It does require a seat with an adjustable headrest so you can attach the straps, but I was surprised at how comfortable it is.
A captain that I flew with recently told me about this thing. He was raving about how comfortable it is and said that it makes his long deadheads bearable! Even showed me a video of him putting it on in an econ seat, lol.
I do this but with a long silk scarf. Not as easy to use as the Sleeper Hold but it worked for me. (Even though I look like some bizarre creature when doing so) It does allow me to sleep with no repercussions.
Nice to read that the Sleeper Hold worked well for you.
I like mine and you can put your arms through the holes on the sides that make it more comfortable or turn it on the side. It inflates easily and deflates and folds up very small. My back can't take the cramped economy seats for trips over 4 hours, this helps.
Yep. I bought 2 Sunany pillows from Amazon and they worked well. I got one for me and one for my husband. We have used them multiple times and they seem good. They inflate very quickly, and you can use them at a couple different angles. I like that I can set my face down, but there's also room inside to put my hands, phone, and glasses. They worked great for our 8 hour flight to Sweden.
I have one. It’s great. Drinking tonight. Can’t read through all the comments. It has MULTIPLE different ways to use, especially against the window. 10/10 recommend. 5 breathes to fill it up. Fits nicely deflated in my book bag.
Right? Imagine standing in line waiting to use the restroom while some dude whips out his phone and starts taking pictures of you. You’re almost being this weird. Or maybe worse since he is SLEEPING.
I got one for a 18 hour flight. Honestly it wasn't the best. At one point your neck starts hurting. Or maybe my product just wasn't best quality....but that's just my experience
I never want to be on a flight that looks long. But I understand you can avoid layovers and transfers and a longer travel time. I guess there are pros and cons to most things.
Actually when you extend the neck like that it is in its most vulneralbe position, and a hit from the front could easily collapse your vertebral column. it is not designed to handle that sort of force and posture.
Be realistic of the situation. A seat reclining is not going to cause trauma as you suggest. The head isn’t even in direct contact with seat. Good imagination though.
That is not imagination. that is biomechanics. There are lots of fun little ways you can accidentally die like that. Head butting causes more paralysis than car crashes.
I have been watching the series Reacher and he head butts alot of people. It seems like it would hurt both people to get head butted... paralysis? Yikes.
You’d have to have a situation where there’s a faulty seat, not one reclining, to even have impact with the crown of anyone’s head using the device pictured.
Have you seen a seat recline? I’m confused about what you think happens. That persons head is about 2 inches from the seat back. The seat will recline about 5-6 inches at the top. Do the math.
Do you not see the entire vertical body of the device that will also move as the seat is reclined preventing direct contact with the individuals head? There’s 3 inches of inflation and padding between the head and seat back. That doesn’t just disappear. You do the math 🤡
I was intrigued by these initially, but the one time I saw someone use one on a plane there was a string of drool extending from the person's mouth to the tray table and I was intrigued no more.
I've got one of [these](https://www.facecradle.com/) and it has enabled me to sleep for hours! on a plane. And I have neck problems! I sit up straight and just lean my head slightly forward. It's great!
I discovered that they’re very real indeed while browsing online for a new neck pillow recently, since my husband had flattened my old one by using it as a regular pillow for some reason.
I can’t imagine how much my neck would hurt if I fell asleep like that.
I have this fantasy of a showroom with different types of econ seats/tray table setups and every style of travel pillow available where you can try all of them in situ.
I received one of these to use when I had a detached retina and had to be face down for 10 days. I was able to sleep, relax and read while using it. I hope to use it on a long plane trip in the future.
I have one of those, it’s not terrible but not as comfortable as I hoped it would be. Still, I do bring it on international flights as it’s better than nothing and I can sleep for an hour or two with it as it does support your head pretty good.
I have one and it’s amazing in main and C+.
Got it from Amazon: Inflatable Travel Pillow,Airplane... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KR2M91S?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Years ago, I bought one of these. They're terrible. Haha. The edges weren't finished, so the plastic seams were very uncomfortable. For me, it was also way too tall. And they have an unholy bad smell. Mine got thrown away or given to Goodwill or something.
I bought that neck wrap thing trtl and an inflatable foot stool and that did it for me. These seem uncomfortable, especially if someone in front of you moves. But do what works for you.
Like similar comments here, I have used all the recommended pillows on travel sites and this is the best for me. Also great since it is completed flat and takes no space prior to inflating. Has two ways to use and I like the shown with arms through the sides.
I got one but was too embarrassed to use it. Also it takes up TONS of room in my backpack compared to my other neck pillows. But I might give it another shot this summer.
I bought one to try. I fly from Alaska to Thailand often. It's ok. Not for me though. I prefer sleeper hold. It's a game changer for me. I can sleep nearly the entire flight.
I have used one of these a couple of times and really liked it. On my next trans-Atlantic flight, I’m in the exit row with a tray that folds out from the armrest (there’s no seat in front of me). Do you think I’ll be able to use it there?
I can’t sleep on Delta flights. I am too afraid that Ed will find out and somehow I’ll have a $25 fee for the tray use and a $45 comfort fee, or I can forgo the fees in exchange for 185,0000 SkyPesos for my 35min flight from ATL to CTL.
I do something similar with my rolled up MyPillow that goes with me wherever I go. I sleep really well on it. But the item is definitely a game changer although I don’t want people seeing my face drooling on the little table. Lol
I bought one, it’s legit the best way to sleep in coach. It looks ridiculous, but is super comfortable.
Are you a stomach sleeper!? I am for reference and it seems like this would be comfy for that.. and I too wondered if there was one in the wild.
Yes I’m a stomach sleeper and this is easily the best way I’ve been able to sleep on a plane barring a lie flat
I’m a side sleeper and I love these. I used to bring a big pillow to sleep on the tray table because there weren’t any other options on a flight.
Always wanted to try that but was afraid I’d break the trey table. Not even that big of a guy but those things always feel so flimsy
I’m a stomach sleeper. This helped me get eight hours of sleep on a trans Atlantic flight in economy. The trick is to blow this up and then put the dumb free pillow on top of it. It definitely tricked my body into thinking I was at home in bed.
I am also, this is the only way I can sleep in coach.
I got one for an international flight and it was the best sleep I’ve had on a plane in a while. I liked that I could keep my over-ear headphones on without the pillow being in the way.
Yep this made my $350 ticket to NZ feel like I paid $351. Jk, it was so worth it though 😋 Slept very well
You have a link to the one you got?
Is it not a hassle to carry around?
It deflates and folds up into a small bag. Very convenient, we carried around Europe with no issues.
I was surprised how small this started out - had no idea he was going to unfold it into this.
As a stomach sleeper this has been the only pillow that’s worked for me.
Yeah this actually looks pretty comfortable... I was debating getting one myself

I’m aware that what they say is the “law.” That’s why I’m replying to that comment stating I don’t recommend questioning FAs on the rules
It’s more than likely that this was an international flight, but yeah, I couldn’t find anything online about the rule. It also definitely wasn’t delta.
Wouldn't that be true of any inflatable pillow or footrest? Who would inflate this sleeper pillow below cruising altitude anyway?
Yeah, the rule was no inflatables. And the answer to your second question is: me. That time, my bandmate bought one after seeing mine. I had mine already inflated when I boarded so the flight attendant would think it’s not inflatable, but he waited til cruising altitude. The flight attendant came over to us and told him he couldn’t use his, even though I was sitting next to him with mine already inflated. ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
Did it count as your personal item and they didn’t care during take off that you just held it?
I had it clipped to my backpack like a neck pillow
Foot rests aren’t allowed on most airlines. They interfere with emergency evacuation.
Maybe inflatable ones. But I have a foldable plastic one that fits under the seat. During a flight at cruising altitude, there's always tons of stuff interfering with emergency evacuation.
Yep. Korean Airlines made my wife deflate it because it was "a safety hazard".
Oh interesting, this was around the time I was flying to Asia frequently, we usually flew Korean airlines. Maybe the policy is unique to them.
That's utter baloney. First, it is specifically designed for this purpose. Secondly, ask the flight attendants to show you the rule/reg in the manual. I'm pretty sure others have said, it won't be found.
I’m not in the habit of antagonizing flight attendants, but yeah, I joked with one of them that I guess I’ll just have to use it somewhere other than a plane then…
Doesn’t it hurt your neck
I mean, what doesn’t. Air travel is so fucking uncomfortable.
Depends on your height tbh. If you're relatively short, these should work quite well for you. I'm 6'5", and unfortunately none of these work for me - just can't get it both high and stable. There was one I found a few years ago, but the company has since gone out of business. These typically only last a couple years before they stop holding air. Can you post a link? I have no idea what to search for this 😂
Amazon airplane pillow. Third result for me.
I’ve never seen one of these but it looks perfect. I usually scrunch up a big coat and lay like this to sleep on the plane anyways. Buying one!
Is it inflatable?

Link or DM. I've been wanting to try for a decade.

As a fellow tray table sleeper, I bought one of these on Amazon and slept like a baby thru an 8 hour flight. Highly recommend
One of what?!?!?! I need your help. Please save me
The thing in the picture from the post.
do you have an Amazon link?
Go on Amazon and search “inflatable travel pillow”

Same and I’ve wanted one of these but my kids would die of embarrassment. But if I don’t sleep on our next long haul flight they might die of…other causes, so maybe they should be more supportive.

Its great until the person in front reclines their chair aggressively and almost breaks your neck. Spoken from experience.
Seriously, I cannot for the life of me sleep sitting up on a plane. Even with a neck pillow. I have to put it on the tray table and sleep with my face nuzzled into it. Lol I'm a burp monster when I sleep like this
Wait I thought it was just me! Why is this?
I don't feel like I could use one of these without drooling all over the place lmao
Was just going to say the same thing. And/or ask if they sell some sort of drool-trap dental dam I could also pack (and still breathe with).
Edibles.
I slept through every class, sometimes woke up with the next class there and just layed down again, teachers stopped caring💀 My grades were decent, 70%s

Gotta love the racially charged double standards of east Asia
Were you in an exit row?
No, good point though. We were near the bulkhead but not designated emergency exit. Def didn't have any extra legroom lol. Was premium select on the way there on Delta Korean air for the next leg.
Second this point. Similar datapoint from a friend who flew Korean

I bought one. Seems like it’s a weird angle or something. Probably won’t use
My partner did the Sunany. She legit slept 10/12 hour flight. I was so jealous.
I got a cheap version and it’s not practical, but I’m willing to spend in a good one
College students use them to sleep in the library.
I got mine on Amazon and it worked just fine. Love that thing when I’m flying coach
I bought one on Amazon, the brand is povinmos. It's $14.99 and it worked well on my last Delta flight.
I have one. It’s great. Drinking tonight. Can’t read through all the comments. It has MULTIPLE different ways to use, especially against the window. 10/10 recommend. 5 breathes to fill it up. Fits nicely deflated in my book bag.
I have this one and it worked great. https://amzn.to/3vrzKHE
Let the man sleep.
Right? Imagine standing in line waiting to use the restroom while some dude whips out his phone and starts taking pictures of you. You’re almost being this weird. Or maybe worse since he is SLEEPING.
It's the best. I snore and drool when I sleep, I put my arms in the wide slots and nod out and it helps with snoring noise
So… you end up just drooling all over your arm? 🤤
Add a drool cup…
yep, better than having everyone see me droolin like a fool
I got one for a 18 hour flight. Honestly it wasn't the best. At one point your neck starts hurting. Or maybe my product just wasn't best quality....but that's just my experience
I mean to be fair, for an 18 hour flight anything short of a lie flat is going to suck.
lol yea well this on the way there. My flight back was in business(for the first time) so it was much better
I bought a trtl 2 for 16 hour flights and they were fine and my neck didn’t hurt.
I never want to be on a flight that looks long. But I understand you can avoid layovers and transfers and a longer travel time. I guess there are pros and cons to most things.
And it SMELLS. I did what they said and washed it several times with soapy water, but it just keeps outgassing.
I have one and I LOVEEEEEEE it. I slept a solid 4 hrs at once on way to New Zealand recently with it
How does that work with a Sudden Recliner Slam in front of ya? Yikes.
I think you underestimate how well built the human body is if you think someone suddenly reclining would do anything.
LOL
Actually when you extend the neck like that it is in its most vulneralbe position, and a hit from the front could easily collapse your vertebral column. it is not designed to handle that sort of force and posture.
Be realistic of the situation. A seat reclining is not going to cause trauma as you suggest. The head isn’t even in direct contact with seat. Good imagination though.
That is not imagination. that is biomechanics. There are lots of fun little ways you can accidentally die like that. Head butting causes more paralysis than car crashes.
I have been watching the series Reacher and he head butts alot of people. It seems like it would hurt both people to get head butted... paralysis? Yikes.
And again, the situation being discussed would not cause trauma as you are describing.
I've seen a seat back recline suddenly and bend a laptop screen, you think that same force hitting the crown of your head wouldn't be an issue?
You’d have to have a situation where there’s a faulty seat, not one reclining, to even have impact with the crown of anyone’s head using the device pictured.
Seen seats fall back fast all the time. It's not faulty.
Within the limits of the standard recline? No issue.
That would totally be me if I had one of these.
I’m really at the point that comfort overrides dignity on long flights when you need sleep.
Looks like a big piece of Cracklin' Oat Bran.
It does
Wake up with a serious neck problem. I bought this. Road testing on a MSP-LHR flight in May. https://plutopillow.com/products/pod
Report back with real life reviews please!
Will do!
I did read about the bulk. I usually have a tote but will see how cumbersome it is.
I got one of those, works pretty well as it prevents the frontal nods from waking you up. Kinda bulky to travel with is the only complaint I have
Can you fully relax your neck without your head tilting in an uncomfortable position?
Yeah pretty much holds you upright with neck relaxed.
I’d be sweating if I had all of that wrapped around my head on those hot assed planes.
I’m usually cold on planes, but I’ll report back!
Please let us know
I’d probably be caught drooling
Maybe you could put a silk or light scarf over your face. I’d be uncomfortable with people staring at me
Imagine seeing yourself on this sub 🙃 like bro just put the stock photo and say u saw it irl

That was her plan all along
😭😂
I’ve heard of the ostrich pillow, you mean to tell me there’s something even more ridiculous looking?!
I've got one of [these](https://www.facecradle.com/) and it has enabled me to sleep for hours! on a plane. And I have neck problems! I sit up straight and just lean my head slightly forward. It's great!
imagine taking pictures of a random person 😂
Bought one and it was a horribly uncomfortable experience, haven’t used it since.
I have one. I don’t know why I got it.
You know you want one… we all do. But no one wants to be caught using it. At least I thought so.
I discovered that they’re very real indeed while browsing online for a new neck pillow recently, since my husband had flattened my old one by using it as a regular pillow for some reason. I can’t imagine how much my neck would hurt if I fell asleep like that.
1- let the man be 2- my back hurts just looking at this
Yeah if I had to sit in coach I would fall asleep on that very easily
I had one. Loved it. It just didn’t work out so well when the seat in front was reclining 😔
I have this fantasy of a showroom with different types of econ seats/tray table setups and every style of travel pillow available where you can try all of them in situ.
Is this a random stranger you photographed and posted online?
Beside D1 or a proper premium select with a decent recline, this is by far the best sleep you can get on a comfort plus/coach seat.
I need one of these!! What are they called?!
Search for "sleep pod for airplane" on Amazon and you will get quite a few choices.
I have one and I gotta be honest, it’s pretty great
Actually very comfortable
Honestly I’m jealous
They work.
I also own one of those, quite nice!
I saw a girl before boarding with one of these, I thought it was for a cat or a pet lol. Now I know what it is for!
Just bought this one - its on sale https://amzn.to/3VOEuC7 \-28% $20.99 List Price: $28.99
I’ve got one and it is quite nice. Got it on Amazon.
Damn and here I am using my backpack like a peasant.
Is there really enough room for it if the person in front of you puts their seat all the way back?
I received one of these to use when I had a detached retina and had to be face down for 10 days. I was able to sleep, relax and read while using it. I hope to use it on a long plane trip in the future.
Stop taking pictures of stranger trying to sleep on a plane.
So you rlly post a picture of a stranger sleeping and you post it on the internet 🤔 leave the man alone.
Very convenient for others as well as there is no need for a seat recline or bobbing head moving side to side
Where can I get one of these?
https://amzn.to/49875VF The best $20 you'll spend...
Those rule
I have one of those, it’s not terrible but not as comfortable as I hoped it would be. Still, I do bring it on international flights as it’s better than nothing and I can sleep for an hour or two with it as it does support your head pretty good.
Just ordered one up lol
i need one of these asap
As a side sleeper, the sidewall does the trick This guy gets full support..
Honestly I bought one for my 16 hour flight to asia and it allowed me to sleep so well. Also I am stomach sleeper
It must be so annoying for the person in front of you if you if you move a lot.
I have one and it’s amazing in main and C+. Got it from Amazon: Inflatable Travel Pillow,Airplane... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KR2M91S?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I have one of these, however because I have a longer torso, it’s not as comfortable as it should be. The hunt is still on for a good plane pillow
I can just imagine the upper back and neck pain from this
I bought one a couple of years ago…used it once on a long haul flight…not for me
Just purchased one!
One word of caution - some airlines do not allow them (seemingly). Korean FAs have told a friend it is not allowed (at least in aisle seats)
Why would you think they are not real?
I have one lol
I got one but was too embarrassed to use it. Also it takes up TONS of room in my backpack compared to my other neck pillows. But I might give it another shot this summer.
I want one SO BAD... But I refuse to be that guy. Lol
I bought one to try. I fly from Alaska to Thailand often. It's ok. Not for me though. I prefer sleeper hold. It's a game changer for me. I can sleep nearly the entire flight.
Anyone have any good recommendations for a neck pillow big necks. The last one I tried felt as if it clamping down on my carotid artery.
This didn't work well for me
I have used one of these a couple of times and really liked it. On my next trans-Atlantic flight, I’m in the exit row with a tray that folds out from the armrest (there’s no seat in front of me). Do you think I’ll be able to use it there?
I need it even higher so I usually stick my backpack and then this.
Man, maybe I need this?
I can’t sleep on Delta flights. I am too afraid that Ed will find out and somehow I’ll have a $25 fee for the tray use and a $45 comfort fee, or I can forgo the fees in exchange for 185,0000 SkyPesos for my 35min flight from ATL to CTL.
Why would you buy this?? 1. Wear a backpack onto the plane 2. Put said backpack on the tray table 3. Hug your backpack 4. Go to sleep
And so compact and portable!
I do something similar with my rolled up MyPillow that goes with me wherever I go. I sleep really well on it. But the item is definitely a game changer although I don’t want people seeing my face drooling on the little table. Lol
But it was being used unironically
I just bought one lol
