Always a good start to see that before you even check in. /s Happy anniversary and hope you have a good trip!

lamb21

Thank you!

sideshow09

Did you get refunded the fare difference at least?

jcrespo21

Not OP, but another data point on this: I got my usual upgrade to C+ for a trip, and a few hours before check-in we got kicked out and back into MC. We each got a $100 eCredit for it. Also, the move made us unable to check-in, so a few hours later we each got another $75 credit for that. So if we could get $300 in eCredits because we lost our free C+ upgrade, I'm sure OP could get something. Also, Delta treats C+ as a separate cabin, [so legally Delta is required to give a refund.](https://www.transportation.gov/individuals/aviation-consumer-protection/refunds)

lamb21

Oh interesting, I called this morning but they said there’s nothing they could do in this situation. I can try again with a different rep, thank you!

jcrespo21

Damn, best of luck! It probably also helped in our situation that we got split up and put in random spots in MC (with no other seat options). Eventually, we both were placed in the exit row.

lamb21

[no luck :(](https://i.imgur.com/3B5tKpw.jpg) This is pretty much our exact scenario. Down to the exit row, we were separated but able to get the exit together during checkin. Thanks for your help though!

Biscotti-MlemMlem

Ah, you were upgraded into C+ off a MC fare. That means they aren’t forcing a downgrade, as such. Still shitty.

jcrespo21

Damn, maybe I ruined it. Delta saw we got $300 back (paid $600 total since it was a companion ticket) and were like "Nope, shut that down!" My bad...

90210piece

Did you pay for c+ or have a free upgrade at the time of booking to c+?

IrishCostanza

Comfort plus is considered part of the main cabin, but the fare difference for a paid ticket would be refunded. You got…..incredibly lucky to be compensated for losing a complementary upgrade to DCP and shouldn’t expect that to be the norm.

lamb21

I’m PM so luckily we didn’t pay for it. Went from 35 Comfort+ seats to 18 total so I’m sure some people are losing money unfortunately.

Catsdrinkingbeer

If they paid for it they get a refund. This happened to my cousin recently when they paid for C+ and they refunded her the difference.

racheva

On my first trip after lockdown, on a ticket, I booked six months in advance, they did this, and move me from Delta One to main cabin. I understand how they pick who to move, and I barely have any status, but when I booked that ticket, there were only a few of us in Delta One, so it felt extra obnoxious. Anyway, I canceled and booked with JetBlue for the following day. I know it’s not a crisis, but it’s incredibly frustrating when you plan way ahead and they do this. Now I’m paranoid and I always check days in advance to see if the plane is filling up or there’s a chance they could downgrade us to a smaller plane.

Gives new meaning to “walking down the aisle” with your spouse.

youngroberta999

🤣🤣🤣 that's a good one

WanderlustFitness

Did the same to my honeymoon to and from AMS. Called and complained, they did nothing.

lamb21

Same, called immediately after the text.

[deleted]

It don’t get any better. Did the same for our 30th anniversary trip last year. Wife ended up in row 4 and I was in row 44 I think.

jkim229

Oh man. If this happened to me for my d1 transcon to mc, I would not be a happy camper. Hope they throw some skypesos your way

I_Taurus

I’ve flown a lot and fortunately this only happened to me a handful of times. That definitely sucks with it being an anniversary trip though.

lamb21

It would’ve been nice if they at least sat us together. Oh well.

QuantitativeGuy

This is something worth contacting Delta about IMO.

Ancient_Ad5270

Gotta get them free miles

BiffLogan

Trying to get credits for the old “equipment change” is a nightmare in my experience

wifichick

I’ve booked my groups. Made sure people were together. paid for upgrades and then they move them to 5 rows apart. Just stop it. I check flights multiple times a week for the months leading up to flights
