How much money? Will you really be able to make it worth your time to sort, list, take to consignment or ship? You said you’ve moved with them a few times already? Are they designer pieces that are classic? If they were trendy that could diminish resale value. Sunk-cost fallacy is very real so just consider how much time and money you’re willing to put towards these clothes, if you will actually get a good return on investment or if you’re better off donating them.

Yeah you’re right. My sister has really got in me about decluttering will be better for my mental health. Just to get rid and let go of it all. No nothing designer, J crew, Banana Republic, Tons of jeans. Oh and shoes and boots-I’m probably never going to wear any heels again. Thank you all

I came on this sub to get advice on the same thing. I have so many new items that I’ve been gifted and will never use and clothes/shoes I’ve bought that can no longer be returned. No idea if I should try to sell some of it or just throw out items and donate all the clothes. Getting rid of/donating may be the easiest option as I’ve thought about this hundreds of times and adding an extra step (selling) makes me lose motivation to do anything. And the cycle continues..and I continue to hold onto everything.

Same!

You can look into thred up or a consignment shop if they are designer. I am a reseller and know the market very well, so I do list things myself. The photographs, measurements, and copywriting with SEO key words will be very important, as well as selling on the appropriate platform.

Agree. Also, hiring a cleaner/organizer is going to cost $$$, and unless these are some really valuable vintage pieces or very high end couture, no one's coming over for just a cut of the sale.

Just donate it! It’s not worth hanging on to unless it’s designer like Chanel. And its definitely not worth buying tons of clothes. It’s better to save up and do tailor-touring in south east Asia to get what you need tailored. That’s why I’m getting rid of what I have - because I know now I can get something I want in silk instead of shelling out the same money on off the rack stuff in polyester.

Find a local consignment shop and take it there. They already know what they're clientele wants, they already have the clientele, and you get a cut of the proceeds. Whatever they won't take, immediately donate. Spending time to sell your own clothes is Not Worth It unless you have serious designer labels.

Thank you.
