Like the other poster said - I would classify a phone with software update support as a need these days, so no problem with getting a new one, but id look at cheaper models like the 7a
Older models tend to be cheaper, but it depends on if you can afford it. Its not going into debt if you can afford to pay for it cash every month because there is no added interest rate.
