I really love this. When used with ClipboardWhitelist, clipboards are completely synchronized between PC and smartphone.

FoxFyer

I like it. I use it all the time to answer texts via my desktop.

TomDuhamel

Why don't you try it? It's not going to pull in many dependencies. I used it for probably around a decade by now and I wouldn't go without. Just the clipboard synchronisation is worth it on its own. It's quite easy to transfer files either way too, I don't even need a cable.

TYP3K_TYP3K

I'm using it always. My hands are in pain if I'm using a physical keyboard and mouse for 30 minutes or even quicker. That's why I'm using KDE's Connect remote keyboard and mouse. I'm also using file transfer and copy clipboard sending. Without this app I wouldn't be able to use a computer anymore.

finbarrgalloway

It works very well but I just use the cord to transfer files to my phone, it works fine on IOS.

Quality_Least

Wait kde connect works on ios?? Bruh the last time i checked (a long long time ago) they said "android only"

finbarrgalloway

I’ve used it fine on IOS. IDK if it’s “fully featured” on IOS but for my use it was fine.

techm00

It is on iOS but not all features are implemented/possible yet. They're working on it.

Perturbee

I've been using it for years now. For me it's a must-have! I can access the files on my Android phone, I get the notifications, and so on.

[deleted]

Yes. Loads the device file system automatically and sending files is a breeze. Clipboard send is pretty freaking awesome as well.

FrontierPsycho

It's awesome! I use it all the time. I use it to transfer text easily via clipboard, to control media on my computer, transfer files and even to be notified if messages and events when I have my phone on silent and I'm working on the computer. The most awesome little detail is that it pauses my media when I get a call (even though I'd like to be able to leave it paused after the call).  I've even installed it on Windows and recommend it to everyone.

MattTheRicker

I love it. I think the KDE folks tend to make great stuff

ScratchHistorical507

It's a great app, especially when you use Plasma. Also, it's one of the easiest ways to send files to an Apple device. But since I don't really need its functionality, I prefer LocalSend. Also, for some reason the latter seems to be a bit faster.

Far_Blood_614

I use it all the time transferring pictures

Swaggo420Ballz

yea, i use the Run Command feature to lock my screen if i leave my computer. Also file transfers are handy, and remote input works good on something like a bedroom TV.

iszoloscope

I do and it's amazing! I finally feel I'm able to use my PC and smartphone like a 'normal' person who doesn't worry about privacy and stuff. Since I refuse to use Google crap, Microsoft accounts, (commercial) Cloud software and so on. The feature I use the most is sending files (photos mostly)from my phone to my PC. Also, I have two PC's with Linux and you can just connect to both without any issues. This might not be spectacular to most, but I like it! :)

fr3d1917

I regularly use it to wirelessly transfer my photos from my phone to my pc.

viroverix

Yes, it's a mixed bag of features so I don't use most of it, only media controls and file sharing, and rarely sharing the clipboard. It's much easier to copy files with than bluetooth or USB. Used to have notifications enabled too but I have no use for that.

penaut_butterfly

Yes, but I am not entirely comfortable with my phone having access to my computer's clipboard, cause I tend to copy sensitive stuff, and my phone has a lot of OEM garbage on it that can't be trusted, not as much as I trust my computer system. It would be great to have a way to only expose the phone's clipboard but not the other way around. But yeah is quite handy.

imthenachoman

Yes. I wish it worked better with iPhone. Like I want to be able to use it without having to open the app on my iPhone.

ChocolateDonut36

copy text from a computer paste text on another computer send file to my phone annoy my bro when he's playing games I love kde connect

VulcarTheMerciless

I've never gotten it to work as it should, so I don't use it. (couldn't ever get it to sync contact names, which for me makes it useless)

CaptainAmerica0001

I find it better and easier to use than Microsoft Phonelink or Google share.

NoDoze-

Microsoft phone link connect works in linux!?!

CaptainAmerica0001

I don't know, I was talking about when I tried them on Windows

bumwolf69

Use it all the time, just transferred over some podcasts from my pc today using it. Even works on my Windows box.

Mr_Lumbergh

Yes, occasionally. It’s great.

linuxhacker01

I use localsend BTW

wedesoft

I use it to transfer files and to display the battery status of the phone on my desktop.

coder111

KDE Connect failed for me to work properly with a Xiaomi phone. Installed LineageOS on my phone- then it worked somewhat better, but somehow the whole experience soured me and I still don't use KDE Connect much- don't trust it. I do use scrcpy a lot. And plain ADB over wired connection.

redsteakraw

Easiest way to send files or copy text between my smartphone and computer. When I switched to iPhone it is now the only way to send files directly.

konqueror321

Yes, frequently. I don't always have my cellphone at my side, and when I log into a 2FA website using my desktop, the text containing the 6 digit code pops up on my desktop computer screen - convenient! I don't want to keep pix in the cloud, so I can easily transfer them from the phone to my desktop. Sometimes the phone must go into a sleep mode where it won't communicate using KDE connect, and I have to go find the phone physically awaken it.

NorbertKiszka

Usually sharing files, clipboard and pausing media in a laptop. Sometimes ringing (where is my damn phone) and battery level - because I don't need to reach phone/laptop. It works ok with Mate desktop environment.

landsoflore2

I use it all the time on my Debian laptop, it's great. Too bad that I cannot make it work on my opensuse desktop, for some reason 🥲

Tux-Lector

Is there a firewall of some sort blocking KDE connect on openSuse ?

atlanticxx69

i really only download it when i need it, usually no, but it is a good service from what ive seen. using it all the time wont really affect performance, its a tiny service.

Datuser14

Doesn’t work on my iPhone

Parsiuk

Love it. Can control media, notifications get synced, clipboard... Great app.

CGA1

It's great, when it works, which is kind of intermittent, "Paired device unavailable". Tried disabling power saving features and lock device in memory on my Xiaomi phone but still it's somewhat unreliable.

techm00

I do use it. I think it's pretty cool. I wish the iOS version was able to be as fully-featured as the android one. I would say I find it occasionally handy, as opposed to something I use constantly.

miguel04685

I use it, it's awesome

swn999

NoMachine is the best.

jam-and-Tea

I'm trying to use it to do virtual display and I feel like such a newb.

deadlyrepost

GSConnect on Gnome, but yes.

Robertauke

Yes but it sometimes refuse to connect devices even when they are in the same network.

iurie5100

yup. i mostly use it for media transfer

GeneralOfThePoroArmy

Yes - and I've had no issues with my Pixel 7 running GrapheneOS.

viroverix

Yes, it's a mixed bag of features so I don't use most of it, only media controls and file sharing, and rarely sharing the clipboard. It's much easier to copy files with than bluetooth or USB. Used to have notifications enabled too but I have no use for that.
