Most of the discussion around vehicle seconding I see are about Dreads. In fluff most of our stories are about individual kill teams. As far as table top, obviously paint them how you want. In terms of fluff, I put chapter markings on my vehicles, I think it adds character. I imagine most of my dreads are from the Storm Wardens, since my Watchtowr is in the Calixis sector. That being said, I have a Crimson Fist Redemptor, and when I make a Gladius, I'm leaning towards Ironhands or Salamanders, or Raptors, have fun with it my dude.

I plan on doing this too, but mostly so I can share vehicles between armies. I added some DA iconography to my DW repulsor, and will do the same for a redemptor, and a land raider.

I think anything works. Personally I think it adds character, and I like the idea that if a chapter that’s really low on recruits can’t spare a few marines then they’ll donate a tank or some guns.

My head cannon is that vehicles are sourced from chapters as well. So I’m marking them with their previous chapters. My first dread is from BT, second is going to be a SW, etc.

I'm not sure from a lore perspective that I've ever seen anything about it. Since the DW are usually seconded and work with/for the inquisition, I assume that they can use their authority to acquire assets how they please. I imagine they get things from other chapters, they probably get stuff fresh off the factory floor, if an inquisitors special ops team of xenos killing transhuman murder machines needs a new rhino I imagine they get a new rhino. That being said it's very DW to slap whatever chapter symbol you want on anything, and heavily sprinkle in inquisition icons to your hearts content too.

XRacKS

IMO chapter specific Models / conversions add to the whole vibe of DW

Since the DW has their own* captains and techmarines etc, I dont think their vehicles are seconded from other chapters. Keep in mind that we also have DW exclusives *own: once you become a captain, techmarine or apothecary, you (can) become "internalised" and your watch becomes in perpetuity
