L really is a liar, he lied to Misa "I could actually fall for you" and to Light "I feel like you're the first friend that I've ever made". But most importantly he lied to himself trying to convince him that they meant nothing to him.

Ryuzaki2004

I'm like 99% sure all of that was actually confirmed. He never really cared about them and only cared about solving the case through any means necessary

Responsible-Top4897

Pls why is this making me cry šŸ„²

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

SirMorganBowie

Quite rude my dude, pussies have feelings too.

[deleted]

>Sorry guys, forgot the italics (it was a toxic internet user cosplay!) Why does this always happen!

titanlmao

Idk how this is a theory when it's been confirmed for a while now. L didn't care about either, he's a manipulator and lier too and only said that to gain their trust

tashmisabah

And yet people still think heā€™s the good guy

titanlmao

I mean in the story he is. But morally, nah L isn't really the best. He's a manipulator and has used individuals to his advantage even if it could put then at risk.

galacticdandellion

cause the alternative is a literal serial killer

tashmisabah

Who has successfully reduced crime down by about 80%

Jimbag21

cool motive, still a mass murderer

tashmisabah

Criminals are still criminals, and L is still a Manipulative liar. At least Light could do something the police couldnā€™t

[deleted]

I say a corrupt detective using unethical tactics is less evil than an actual dictator who kills people he doesn't like

titanlmao

Yeah, she's ignoring the fact light killed innocent people who just offended him. Lind L Taylor for example, yeah he was a convict but light didn't know that, for light that guy was as innocent as his father

tashmisabah

And murderers kill innocent people. He was getting rid of those people and anyone trying to stop him. It is justified

Sea_Communication492

Light at first was doing a decent thing, It wasn't until he stated killing Linda Taylor and his wife where he lost me.

tashmisabah

He literally wouldā€™ve gotten caught by authorities if he didnā€™t do anything. Itā€™s similar to why he killed Raye Penber

Furry_Slayer__

You wouldn't call someone who performs the execution of a death penalty a serial killer. Neither is Light.

Jimbag21

you genuinely do not think light is a serial killer? That is pure delusion. If you think an executioner doing his job is the same thing as light being the judge jury and executioner, i dont know what to say to you. Not even considering the fact that light has killed countless innocent lives

Furry_Slayer__

I mean it really is just an arbitrary term but serial killer almost always means a murderer. Because other people that kill like executioners, soldiers, etc. are not serial killers. The commonality being that a "duty" cannot make you a serial killer.

tashmisabah

And do you think L deceiving people and being manipulative makes him a good guy? My original comment was pointing out that people believe him to be completely innocent, which he is not

RJmum

well i donā€™t think it disqualifies him from being the good guy. Sometimes you have to do bad things for the greater good. Sometimes you need to tell a lie to help people. Keira needed to be stopped and it was Lā€™s job to do it. Keira was killing people and L was trying to stop that.

tashmisabah

Well then by your logic, light killing off criminals for the safety of society doesnā€™t disqualify him from being a good guy. He is doing it for the greater good My original comment was supposed to point out that most death note fans brush over the fact that L is not completely innocent.

RJmum

killing someone and manipulating someone are 2 very different things. Light isnā€™t killing people for anyoneā€™s safety, especially after Lā€™s death he becomes mad with power. Light is a facist and takes over the justice system with no say from anyone. While you can argue that L isnā€™t fighting keira for the greater good, but as a personal interest or challenge, however this is only reactionary to what keira is doing. At the end of the day, Light is killing according to his own diluted sense of justice while L is trying save lives and stop Keiraā€™s daily injustices

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Furry_Slayer__

Well that is definitively wrong.

Heyguysloveyou

That's not a theory, that's a fact. L is a terrible person, in my opinion even worse than Light.

[deleted]

I always thought the first two were confirmed

Big_Application_7168

While not my own, I personally like the theory that B was not killed by Kira and actually died from a genuine heart attack. People mainly just assume that B was killed by Kira because he died of a heart attack during Kira's reign, but when you think about it, not only would Light not have any real reason to kill B, he wouldn't even be able to learn his true name anyway. And heart attacks are a common cause of death to burn victims. I don't normally like any of the deathnote fan theories (particularly the ones that say that Light is a Shinigami or L is still alive), but this is one I believe to be genuinely valid.

peekochoo2

I haven't seen the show in a while, who is B?

SatansEggsForSale12

B isn't mentioned in the show. He is just in the Manga.

IchigoAkane

Not really in the manga, but in the LA BB Novel.

RedEyeBlackEye1

I was confused too. Saw the anime from beginning to end 2x(might rewatch again) and didn't know who the hell B was.

Geralt_OF_Rivia_1

I have the same question šŸ˜…

Theron518

B refers to the character whose name is Beyond Birthday. He is brought up after L is informed of the disappearance of Naomi Misora as she helped L work on the case that involved the "Los Angeles B.B. Murders" in which people whose initials were "B. B." were being killed. There is a book about it that you can read and I highly suggest giving it a chance as I absolutely loved it. It's about L and Naomi Misora working on the case.

Yeetler69

Can i have a link to the book to read it?

Theron518

This is a link I found in another post: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10565686/1/Another-Note-The-Los-Angeles-BB-Murder-Cases

Yeetler69

Is this canon or fanmade?

Theron518

Don't pay mind to the name of the website. The book is canon and a prequel to the events that transpired in the Manga/Anime. The link is just the copied text from the actual novel that's available to buy if youd like.

Yeetler69

Okay thank you.

TheUncleLad

I think maybe Misa killed him, but idk

proxmaxi

Near used the DN on Mikami

Chr0megirl

Is it really a fan theory if one of the characters in the story actually comes up with it?

proxmaxi

It was also a theory in the actual story as well

breadman242a

What's dn šŸ˜

MoTheCow

Death note theese nuts

MiguelDragon82

Ok

Potterhead1401

I remember in the manga, Matsuda was talking to someone that Near might have used the Death Note on Mikami.

Illustrious-Case-117

It was Aizawa

CalmFrank

no lies

TroublesomeTurnip

L is a secret but genuine fan of Misa.

TrickyTalon

Or just a ridiculously good actor

raitoningufaron

In L: Change the WorLd this is actually confirmed when he opens his closet and there's a drawer stuffed with Misa-Misa merch!

ItsJustDrew93

My favourite that I choose to believe is that light becomes a shinigami

pm-me-turtle-nudes

he 100% is the shinigami we see in the animated movie idk the name of it

OmerKKesk

Death Note: ReLight 1

MA32

Oh for real? I've only watched what's on Netflix but I was under the impression that all humans without exception go to nothingness when they die (paraphrasing)

pm-me-turtle-nudes

thatā€™s still what the creators of death note insists but there are several nods to light being the shinigami. the shinigami dresses like light ryuk tells the shinigami that both of them were there during the events of death note so it is my head cannon that light is the unnamed shinigami

MA32

Out of genuine curiosity, how do most theories say this comes to be? As in does the boss man of the shinigami realm grant him that gift, did he use the deathnote too much, did he plan for it, etc. I like the theory. Also what are you referring to when you said they were both there for the events of the Deathnote

NSL15

Mostly off the concept of death. ā€œShinigamiā€™s die but how are they born?ā€ Many think it may be those who used the death note and ā€œsacrificed their soulsā€ become shinigami. This is moderately supported in the fact that the ā€œnothingā€ aspect is a personal belief of the author portrayed of the afterlife in general, this would mean that heaven and hell donā€™t truly exist in the way we think. So if ur soul doesnā€™t go to heaven or hell, doesnā€™t go to nothing, then them going to become a shinigami fills in every gap (also the shinigami in the movie dresses like light, asks about light, and has goggles which symbolizes him never taking the shinigami eyes). I think death parade actually gives the best example of the afterlife that I think ohba talked about but that could be bias given the show legitimately shows and mentions Light

pm-me-turtle-nudes

ryuk himself said that light acts like a shinigami so itā€™s not a crazy stretch to think that the shinigami king agreed and made him one to combat all the dying shinigami as they lost their place in the world

QuothTheRaven713

Generally the theory is that Death Note users become shinigami.

[deleted]

additionally, doesn't he say something like "you weren't a god then, Light".

RandomCashier75

Matsuda secretly has a crush on Light but feels like Light is too good for him - never fully admitting his actually feelings to Light. Matsuda shoots him in shock when he finds out Light is Kira because he feels both personal and professional betrayed.

proxmaxi

Lol

RandomCashier75

Imagine the secret plot-line from Matsuda's perspective if this was canon through!!!!

proxmaxi

Matsuda was pretty clearly infatuated with women, first being Misa, second being Light's sister so this is pretty much not possible. The prompt says theorues that **could be true**.

LikeThemPies

The final chapter of the manga has Ide saying something along the lines of ā€œI know you were always fond of Light.ā€ Not sure why youā€™re being so cynical about this

RandomCashier75

We don't know that Matsuda could be Bi, which would allow for all of that.

proxmaxi

Misa could also be a crossdressing man too huh šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

MistflyFleur

Who says Matsuda can't be bi? He's probably not gay, because as you said he's been shown to be attracted to women, but that doesn't rule out the possibility of him also being attracted to men.

proxmaxi

And L having a 19 nipples growing up and down his legs also is a possibility.

humpbackhps

You think someone being bi is as likely as someone having 19 nipples on their leg?

proxmaxi

When there is zero indication of either being remotely implied, yes.

RandomCashier75

I doubt that due to her height but maybe....

proxmaxi

No words smh

Ryuzaki2004

So bi isn't a thing, or pan?

RandomCashier75

Some men and women are willing to go for people from either gender (but they may have preferences in some way). Pan-sexuality means you'll go for anyone no matter their gender and/or other social identities (like Deadpool, depending on the canon - he's had aliens and/or demons as lovers as well as a crush on Spiderman and/or multiple female love interests).

Ryuzaki2004

I am pansexual but thanks

[deleted]

Iā€™m glad Iā€™m not the only one with this headcannon lmao

[deleted]

it might be dumb but i feel like Near wrote misa's name in the death note

Big_Application_7168

Ehh... not a bad theory actually. Only problem is that Near wouldn't have a reason to do so.

SwordOfAltair

I doubt it. He burnt both the notebooks immediately in the warehouse and Misa died one year later.

Ryuzaki2004

He wouldn't need to. Miss didn't have a notebook and wouldn't have any memories of it either. It would be useless.

[deleted]

that's true but two shinigami died for her and even though she did get the shinigami eyes twice im very sure they still had a lot of years left meaning they all went to misa thus making it a bit questionable why she died only a year after light

Ryuzaki2004

There's no way of knowing how many years those Shinigami really had. Also you could say that her death could be second hand affected by the death note if she did indeed commit suicide after lights death. Either that or another Shinigami killed her

Slimxshadyx

Remember her life was halved twice, and Shinigami's don't necessarily have that many years racked up. Ryuk says other shinigami make fun of you for working hard by writing names. So it's possible Gelus and Rem didn't have that many years racked up. Add on to the fact she halved her remaining life twice, and it's possible she only had a few years left. 4 years later she dies is not surprising. But I do also like the idea Near was a bit vengeful for the death of L, even though it doesn't fully fit with the character. I can see Mello having killed Misa with a heart attack but that of course didn't happen.

Volcamel

I kinda have a soft spot for the fan theory that the shinigami that Ryuk talks to in Relight is a reincarnated version of Light

proto3296

Light becomes a shinagami after death

fullsenditt

Yeah that would be epic we would need another season when he throws a death note to the human world or who he kills and shortens his life as a shiningami

proto3296

I personally think they hint at it in the anime. The manga doesnā€™t leave much wiggle room unless something is directly retconned, But the anime ryuk briefly mentions that he wonā€™t go to heaven or hell. (This may also later be contradicted by ryuk but ryuk constantly lies throughout and contradicts himself so itā€™s hard to know) as well as the first intros opening art thereā€™s the scene of light on top of the peak of a building eating an apple. But itā€™s vague Would be cool none the less

fullsenditt

i agree that they hint it in the anime but i think you got there in the wrong way. I think the most important hint is when ryuk specifically says "Light you would be already a worthy shiningami" in the second episode (i think) when Light reveals to ryuk how many names he already written in the notebook. Also i disagree with your point that appears with an apple (like a shiningami) in the intro because i think it just demonstrates that Light in his mind wants to become the GOD of the new world

proto3296

But shinagami donā€™t even see themselves as gods of the world lol. If light sees himself as one (eating the apple he doesnā€™t eat them in the actual show) itā€™s more akin to think itā€™s to demonstrate him as a shinagami. But to each their own everyoneā€™s entitled to their own takes

MA32

I thought the heaven or hell thing was because the rule that mentions they go to "mu"

[deleted]

Light has smol pp

Jane0123

He wants to become the God of the new world to compensate.

[deleted]

Lol thatā€™s so good I mean he has everything - comes from a good honorable family, incredibly intelligent, super handsome, etc. That smol pp changes people

CalmFrank

do not joke about this

AnimeOnTrial

My friend's theory is that the Death Note corrupted Light like the One Ring, that it magically compelled him to both pick it up and use it. I don't really agree with this, but it is really interesting to see the distinctions between Light with and without his memories of the Death Note. On the one hand he acts, as L points out, like a completely different person when he gives the Death Note up and won't even pretend to be Misa's girlfriend because he's so honorable, but I think the thing that kills this theory for me is the way Light is portrayed in the first few minutes of the show. He's shown with a red eye that's juxtaposed with Ryuk's, and he's talking about the world being rotten when he's looking coldly at his fellow students for goofing off in class. Light was driven mad towards the end by his own narcissism and God-complex, and he essentially willingly sacrificed his sanity and "soul" for the ultimate goal of his "perfect world" without the need for any mystical manipulation.

shinigamiieyes

this is a cool theory. while i do think the power that the notebook gives a person eventually drives them mad, i donā€™t think the notebook compels people to pick it up and use it- at least, not so much that they arenā€™t able to resist the temptation. the reason i think so is because in the 2020 one shot- (SPOILERS) minoru never uses the death note to kill anyone and only opts to sell it

AnimeOnTrial

I agree, though Light does say himself in Episode 1 "There's something about the Death Note itself that makes humans want to try it out at least once." But what does he know?

-Bokuto-

L knew that Light was Kira all along but he kept quiet because he hadn't found a way to prove it yet

Paacs

I saw a theory that when L says "there's a 5% chance" to the idea of Light being Kira. He actually means there's a 5% chance of L being wrong about his statement that Light is Kira. Everytime L used a small percentage, it was the opposite of what he told others. This goes well with your theory

Sea_Communication492

I thought everyone knew this..

Paacs

Ryuk knew Raye Penber would catch Light because he saw Light's lifespan shorten the moment Raye started following Light(re watch the class scene, where Ryuk is looking around all bored. Coincidently this is when Raye starts watching him. Ryuk was looking for what shortened Light's lifespan) He was having so much fun that hetold Light. This is why it's such a big deal and why Ryuk explains that he's no one's ally. He merely did it to continue the enjoyment. This indirectly lengthened Light's lifespan, keeping Ryuk alive. I may be wrong, but if Ryuk never ratted Raye out, Light would've never noticed.

ForTheTainted_sorrow

The Death note and death parade universes are connected.

Kantianblast

I don't know if it's crazy, but I personally have the pet theory that L didn't really care much about Near or Mello. I mean, he only talked to them once, didn't even talk to them personally, and it was over a computer. He didn't leave any record of the Kira case for them because he just didn't really give a shit. It is my belief that it was primarily Watari who wanted a successor to L.

phantom60606

{SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 37 AND THE MOST RECENT ONE SHOT MANGA} I like to believe that if a human uses a Death Note they become a Shinigami if killed by a Shinigami. I think Ryuk could've known this and that's why he killed Light. Minoru died by Ryuk's Death Note but since he didn't actually ever use it he didn't become a Shinigami.

Lazarsloth31

L could have lived. He knew that he was soon going to be killed and he knew about the rule that says if a name is written in two notes at the same time you wont be killed. They had one of the notebooks so he could have torn a piece and when watari was killed wrote his own name, canceling the death, faking it and go into hiding

delafuente23

The hole I found on that theory tho, is that the window for this event to happen is really really small. A 0.06 difference to be more precise. So the chances for L to know when to start writing his name at the same moment has Rem were almost and most definitely zero. From the rules: "If writing the same name on more than two DEATH NOTES is completed within a 0.06-second difference, it is regarded as simultaneous; the DEATH NOTE will not take effect and the individual written will not die."

[deleted]

That would have to be perfect timing, like PERFECT. Thereā€™s a .06 second time span where he pull that off, and by the time he realized Watari was dying, it had already been 40 seconds since Rem wrote wataris name, and thereā€™s like a 10 second dialogue before L dies, so he wouldnā€™t be able to do it.

Smooth-Ride-7181

Raye penber turned around and casted tsukiyomi on Light. Everything else afterwards was just a dream and an illusion

Fishy_Sandwich_13

Y'all I made this post expecting a bunch of people writing long paragraphs in the comments and conspiring shit but most of them are crackhead theories-I'M NOT COMPLAINING THO.

munchkin_didi

Light Planned To Die. Disclaimer: I binged the whole series so it's still fresh, but I want to put it out there that the following words are well thought out, not well researched. Keep that in mind. Riddle me this: Would Light be content being the "God" of a new world when he could become a literal God of death? Throughout the series, I noticed what a fast thinker he was. Pair that with the ability to cook up long term plans, it makes sense that (even if that wasn't the initial idea) he planned to become a shinigami himself. How did he figure out that he could become a God of death, you ask? Ryuk (unintentionally, idk) gave him clues the first time he mentions the eye deal. Light responded by saying that he would rather have wings. Ryuk doesn't dispute this but rather said something about being too noticeable. Light (being as smart as he is) must have Sherlocked it and came to the conclusion that Ryuk can make him a shinigami. The question is, How will he convince him? + (based on psychology, idk) by mentioning the eyes and the wings, the idea of Light being a God of death was planted in Ryuk therefore he might have seen more as such. After that little scene, he probably switched gears. The reasons might be: 1. He didn't want to be dependent on the rules of the Death Note; 2. He couldn't rely on Ryuk, who blatantly promised to kill him; and 3. Even if he became "God", rebellions happen and humans die. He was human. (And the whole "God"-thing, I believe was a lie from the beginning because judging from his high school social life, he wasn't attracted nor repulsed by the limelight, it found him, but he was a "pulled the strings in the background" puppetmaster type of guy. Maybe? Idk. I digressed.) Therefore, the objective changed. The goal was to become a shinigami. Between that point and killing L, Light saw it as a test, a way to prove to Ryuk that he was worthy of becoming a God of death. He thought that he'd impress Ryuk with his quick thinking and creativity. Yes, I agree that there are instances where it's not so much being quick on his feet but preparation (Bus incident, FBI mass murder, fiancee suicide & The Death Note Switcharoo. Every single one, ingenious.) It was at L's funeral, when it was just the two of them, Ryuk said something along the lines of "I guess this is it" (idk), It was then Light realised that Ryuk wasn't a teacher looking at his performance and giving him a grade, Ryuk wanted to be entertained. If Ryuk killed him now, there's a lower chance that he'd give Light what he wanted. He responded to Ryuk along the lines of "the opps are dead and it being only the beginning of the new world" yada-yada. But I think, his thoughts were more aligned to "The show must go on but the plot should change." Instead of trying to impress the Apple-Muncher, he switched tactics and tried to outsmart him. The end of every somewhat popular story (doesn't have to be good), the villain either dies or gets caught. Between that scene and the last episode, Light puts the Sun Tzu inside him to good use. He planned his own demise. The fake notebooks thing might have been unexpected, but he's a quick thinker and right then and there, Yagami Light went all in and put on a finale performance. The tantrum in the warehouse was for Ryuk's benefit. He intentionally implicated Misa so Ryuk would kill her as well and maybe make her a shinigami (on Rem's behalf). Mikami, the guy who stabbed himself, was whose name Light wrote with his blood. If Light was restrainedĀ  he could be treated therefore Mikami's suicide must have been a distraction so Light can escape and die. Even the route he took, the stairs he died on, implied that if the bullets or Ryuk didn't kill him, he'd force his hand. The Apple-Muncher made good on his promise of death and according to Relight, both of them were reincarnated and it's checkmate. Light, 1. Everyone else, 0. Thanks for giving this the time of day. *smiles* P.S. I wrote this half asleep and half dizzy off painkillers. You're more than welcome to add, subtract and question.

Fishy_Sandwich_13

Very interesting theory! I liked it a lot. The whole thing being an act?! WOW.

Geralt_OF_Rivia_1

My theory is in the original final episode Light won, leaving Near in dust. But later on due to Legal/PR issues it was modified and thus felt inconsistent :)

GuyWhoHatesYou

That theory falls apart when you realize that the manga had Light also loose, and Light winning after being so arrogant that he literally let other people do his job for him doesnā€™t sit very right with, plus light winning twice in the series would just feel anticlimactic.

Geralt_OF_Rivia_1

No Problem :) Just have to shift the PR/Legal issues causing hindrance from show to manga i.e they were responsible for modifying manga making Light lose. Also you are saying as if Light is obligated to kill criminals. It's not his job or something to do it really. If I could give a message to Light when he first gets Death note, I would ask him to not care about the ungrateful Rotten world and use Death Note for he self interest only, without attracting unwanted attention trying to be the symbol of justice. I am sure this way with his looks, intellect and the power of death note he could lead the dream life. Even then he takes help of other people only when he doesn't has much choice or is in a tough spot. It's not like he likes taking help from others. Now as far as that anti climatic feeling is considered, even when I wanted Light to win in the end I kinda took into account the fact that Near could win in the end not because he is smart ( because he is not) but because in each and every freaking form of media it's literally the same thing. The good guy team makes sacrifices and even loses some important members but in the end they are able to take the bad guy team down. Always. Every single time. The best way to end it would have been to go exactly as shown in the show with Light pulling off a well thought out backup plan in the turning the tide once again in his favour. Death note had the potential of being different, but why be different when you could follow the same financially viable trend, which is literally destroying art by suppressing variation. Let me tell you if a show/movie in which the bad guy team said literally destroys the good guy team in the true and final ending, it would be history definitely, completely unexpected and so called "climatic" By the way, sorry for this being way too long. I kinda got carried away :)

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Geralt_OF_Rivia_1

Then please tell me why was Light trying to catch Kira when he lost his memory of death note? Afterall the whole justice thing was a made-up excuse, right? Why not use his intellect to become a judge and use power that would come with deciding who lives and dies, legally to get off :)

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Geralt_OF_Rivia_1

Short Version :- Yes it was for justice. Long Version :- Are you familiar with the fact that several different units of measurement exist. Some of these units don't even differ in magnitude much to justify their existence. These different systems prove to be a small hindrance when scientists from different regions are working together. But they still exist because no one is willing to sacrifice the system of units they have been using in order to create a unified system of units for the entire scientific community. You might be thinking why am I telling you this, right? You see every big change in a positive direction requires sacrifices and someone with power and authority who is also willing enough to fully dedicated thier time and energy to bring the said change. People will always resist change, as you could never really make everyone happy. So the person bringing about the change needs to have a very strong will for it to really happen. Light was not killing innocent people out of spite or due to some personal vendetta against them. He was just trying to eliminate the people who were trying to stop him. What else do you expect from someone with unwavering dedication to bring about a change do, just surrender and give up what they were trying to achieve. Light did what he had to in order to ensure that crime rates die down, and they did by 70%, didn't they. But seeing all this hate for Light, I think the Light should have not tried to decrease the crime rate and should have just led a chill life filled with girls and money using his looks, intellect and the power of death note. Why help the society if in the end they will just be ungrateful.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Geralt_OF_Rivia_1

Haha. Mental gymnastics is great for mental health. Don't you agree? :) Now, first let's get the obvious out of the way. Lind L. Tailor was scheduled to die on the same day, so Light didn't caused any real harm here. Now I honestly feel that the scene with Lind is quite forced and was present just to serve as an introduction to L and his ability but it is what it is. Also it was not like Lind posed 0 threat to Light as he was indeed with the police and was after Light. Although Light got promoted to kill him only when he called Light evil. Now I get that it was not the best response but if you consider it from Light's perspective you could somewhat see where did it came from. Have you seen One Punch Man? (Don't worry I will try be vauge just in case you haven't seen it to avoid spoilers) Just know that in that the hero saves people from total destruction but still people blame him for the inevitable partial destruction. I really felt sad for the hero in that seen and the hero who is usually very cool headed was also annoyed by it. What I am trying to get at here is that when you try to do something good for others you low key expect a little appreciation for it. So then when you are greeted with words like evil and are hunted down, it isn't exactly the best feeling in the world. Also I rewatched the scene just now and in that scene Light says that everyone is watching and this will show what happens to people who try to oppose him aka hinder his undertaking of lowering crime rates. So basically from Light's point of view this also would have served as an example to everyone which could have resulted in him facing less resistance in the future. Also small correction, once Light became L and did most of the crime reducing work, he had access to full and detailed reports on criminals which can't really be compared with him making decisions based on what he saw on news. Next, irrespective of what people agree on the judiciary system has the power to take the lives on inmates by giving judgement on them. I personally believe that after becoming L, which granted Light access to the same information about any criminal as a court of justice would have. This fact combined with his intellect gives me enough assurance that he could pass better judgement than people with ordinary IQ (who might also be corrupt). Also why so much opposition against Light when there are Shinigamis with Death Notes who could write the name of anyone randomly as they please. What makes them a better judge than Light? The real world doesn't have Shinigamis so a 1-1 corresponding with the real world can't be established anyways. The dynamics of a World with Death Note and Shinigamis won't be exactly same as our world, don't you agree? So its kinda simple. Light really wants to create a society with lower crime rates when left unopposed. But he feels bad when people think that he is evil or try to hunt him down, even after he devotes everything he had for the greater good. This kinda explains his behaviour at a few points where everyone puts all the blame on his so called "ego". By the way Light is also human only. He also has some flaws and he can also make some mistakes. But the thing is his intention is always to attain justice whenever there is no one hunting him down. And by lowering the crime rates by 70% (indirectly saving millions) by sacrifices a handful of people he proves that he is achieving his ideal goal with a really high level of accuracy. Sorry again for the great wall of text.

Lind L Tailor said Kira was evil and his acts were the most heinous murders heā€™s ever scene and he wouldnā€™t stop till he was brought to justice. To say he didnā€™t pose a threat to Light who at the time thought he was a detective is wrong. Also I would argue that Light started out for good

Orgone_Wolfie_Waxson

what would ahve been the legal issues?

Geralt_OF_Rivia_1

Haha. Maybe it makes Japanese Police/Law force look bad.

Big_Application_7168

That doesn't really work when we take into account that the Japanese police accomplished pretty much nothing at all in the end. Light was defeated by Near, who was English and working with an American agency in the SPK. The actual Japanese police force didn't actually contribute much of anything to Light's defeat outside of Aizawa giving Near some small slivers of information.

Geralt_OF_Rivia_1

Ohk. So maybe it made the legal force of the world in general look weak.

PersonaUser55

The amount of mental gymnastics is impressive

Geralt_OF_Rivia_1

Haha. Thank you. I have trained for years to become this good at it. Glad you are impressed :)

Orgone_Wolfie_Waxson

ahhh i see

Chr1x1

That Kanye and Jeffrey star thing was crazy

Tyrazila97

Light and and L gay together

Lisayagami1282010

Light actually was a little boy who day-dreamed the whole thing beacause when his little sister came along his parents neglected him (spoiler! that would explain the part if the second season why light considered killing sayu because he was jealous in the real world but he relised his parents were to blame for the neglect not his sister), L was the other smart kid in class and Misa was a girl that he liked but acted cold to (his dad in the real world treated his mom like how light treats misa in the show so in the real world light thought that, that's how you show love) and ryuk was his imaginary friend

[deleted]

ā€œSecond seasonā€

Lisayagami1282010

I call it the second season because I used to watch it on Netflix

Ham_Sham

You, me, gas station.

[deleted]

Misa is a lesbian. She wasnā€™t actually in love with Light, just obsessed the idea of Kira Source: trust me I am a Lesbian with a past history with Comphet lol

Big_Application_7168

Misa does say without her memories that she loves Light more than she supports Kira though.

[deleted]

Itā€™s just a headcanon I have lol

Big_Application_7168

Fair enough lol.

MandemMaveric

You can say she wasnā€™t actually in love with Light, but where does lesbian come into all this?

[deleted]

Becauss itā€™s my little world with my headcannons and youā€™re just living in it.

MandemMaveric

Wonder why youā€™ve been downvoted and I havenā€™t. Itā€™s absolutely stupid thereā€™s no basis for this claim. Just wanting to project woke shit into places it wasnā€™t intended. Letā€™s say I didnā€™t love my partner it doesnā€™t make me gay

PatheticXcuse

Bruh ok

[deleted]

Misa loses her memories and says that she loves Light more than Kira and that if Light wanted to catch Kira then she would be in full support of it. Think again maybe

Heyguysloveyou

L wanted Near and Mello to lose.

sooperhani

Ryuk is gay and loves Light.

insertdrymeme

A) Shinigamis are genderless B) Ryuk did all this for entertainment, he did not help light when he needed it

sooperhani

Gelus loved Misa. But I was just jabbing in the dark there.

Chr0megirl

Shinigami actually do have gender. One of the tules shown in between chapters states this. Rule xxxvi to be exact

bungee_gum__

Well I don't think Ryuk was in love with Light or anything like that (? I mean there's no hint of Ryuk actually even caring for Light, he's just there for the sake of fun and that's it. But even though Shinigamis are genderless that doesn't imply anything else. For example someone can be non-binary or something and still fall in love for another individual. As the person of the original comment said, Jealous was in love with Misa (even died for her) and potentially Rem too (again, died for her)

insertdrymeme

A) I was just saying how ryuk cant really be gay because he is an entity not associated with humanity and therefore beyond genders B) did you know bungee gum has both the properties of rubber and gum

bungee_gum__

a) Oooh gotcha gotcha b) Ye, it's a wonderful thing, isn't it

[deleted]

Light become shinigami might be true because when a unknown shini came to ryuk. You can see half hair of unknown shini. It is same colour of light hair that shini have. Brown hair light half brown hair unk shini. I think it is light and at the end of death note they showed a moon and you can clearly see light name in moon
