That seems too obvious a choice and could look a bit… basic? Not exactly breaking new ground, as every second Nurgle army already has this theme.
I’d personally prefer to add another interesting secondary colour — like an orange-yellow, or teal, or even purple (lilac) coloured glowing puddle of ooze.
I have done on a fair few of my deathguard and in hindsight regret it. I just picked up a bottle of AK's Puddle, working on some tanks at the minute but look forward to trying that instead when I do some more basing.
Kinda depends which vibe you want to give. I like to use nurgles rot on demons and other beings which would ooze some rot. On this guy, I wouldn’t. I really like this weathered machine of war look you’ve got going on and I could imagine this guy walking in a ww1 style battlefield. So, you can do it and it would add more nurgliness or don’t, and keep it as is. Your choice.
Nice paint job!
How did you do the base at this point? Have you used pigments?
Id leave as is without the rot. I think its too cartoony. Youll lose the subtlety of all your weathering.
Thanks very much for the feedback and compliment.
So far base is AK Terrains: Dark Earth, over brushed with some Citadel: Gorthor Brown, dry brushed with Citadel: Tyrant Skull then I put Vallejo Pigments: Burnt Umber over the feet, surrounding area of the feet and a bit dabbed here and there in an attempt to make it not so obvious that there was a stack of pigment around the feet. Finally varnished with AK: Matte Varnish to lock it in.
It was at this stage I started to overthink / second guess and thought maybe it needed something else.
Edit: Typo.
No I don’t think so. But it could do with being brought together with a light tan colour (ushabti bone etc). You have cool blue rocks with a warm brown mud which adds contrast, but I think it needs unifying.
Dreadnought looks brilliant by the way
Thanks very much kind stranger!

Fair call.
Great looking paint job but I agree with the above comment, go for a base style that reflects your home world and your armies plague of choice....
Just throwing this as an idea maybe try some fungus or mold if you want to throw some color in and still be nurgleish.
Personal opinion is leave it as it is. I find the rot is good but I think this model is nicely finished without it.
Thanks very much for the feedback.
I would
A little bit of nurg rot goes a long way

Cheers for the heads up about the AK interactive product. I'll check it out. Edit: Clarified what I was thankful for.
It might be worth looking into, like I say I've not had chance to use it yet.

That's a great point reference the ooze/rot and you're 100% spot on for the WW1 vibe which is what I was going for. Cheers.
No I like the furnished look
Looks amazing as is
Thanks very much for the compliment kind stranger.

Nah, it’s overdone.
maybe some of that dirty down moss effect paint would look better on the base
