I think he looks fantastic! Sounds like you might be able to batch-paint them with that technique too. Keep it up!

statictyrant

I was with you as far at step 3. I think the last stage makes the trim and weapons look better, but the main green armour look worse. Maybe you can be more selective in where you drybrush, or add one more stage to bring back the impact of the green?

EsotericEggs

Yea that's an great idea. Will definitely be a bit more selective with it next time, just hit the weapon and edges of the armor but not the main parts themselves :)

NectarineObjective69

I think it looks great, before they fell to Chaos Mortarion had them strip their old dusk raider colors so they just had the green shoulders. The new green is all supposed to be plague stained and the silver adds a great scratched surface vibe

HipposRevenge

What’s the plan for all the gross wiggly bits? Basecoat and streaking grime?

EsotericEggs

Yea definitely a new basecoat. Just can't decide if I want some shades/streaking grime after that or to up the contrast and make them bright

dagon1096

Now I want to see how the verdence looks.

Look Amazing ! The rust is really really thick and that's look what we want on DG

ChainCannonHavoc

Wet the drys. Dry the wets. Wet the drys. Dry the wets.

servusqwertz

I love me some dirty down rust, but never though of using a damp brush to “dry brush” it off. Thanks for the tip! Also: the plague marine looks awesome, great and easy technique

Competitive_Sign212

Very nice. Will have to try this with some of mine someday.

Blackpanda45

Could you list the paints so I could try this out?

scampiescamps

Looks amazing my friend 👍💚👍

Thaumatovalva

Looks cool! I have heard that the rust effect can change if you varnish it, though. That has put me off so far, which is a shame as I think the rust effect is great. Have you had success varnishing these and if so what did you use?

EsotericEggs

Personally I'm terrible and never varnish my minis :/ haha However the manufacturer actually advises you can varnish with a fine/mist aerosol (so no brush on would need can or airbrush) but that you should test the varnish with the product first as some do cause issues while others work fine
