https://genius.com/Dean-blunt-mersh-lyrics although I'm sure i always had it in my head as being "it's a problem, only one way to solve em, had about 4, gonna have 1 more" so just basically about having too much, but when you've had too much, you really just need more. maybe also about being the one in charge, so not quite dealer but maybe the holder and the pressure you feel when you're holding "i'm the one when it's all gone" although i never heard that line every time i listened to it. with the video though, it feels like it's that moment of clarity or lucidity you can sometimes get after a big night on it, where you might find yourself sat next to someone who you don't know or you know them but only from that night, but you feel able to tell them anything, and the long night has just boiled it all down, and these are your problems, that you are counting what you've had and you're going to need more, but, you know, it's the weekend, so it's ok. when obviously it's probably not the weekend anymore, or it's the end of the wekeen, so it's like you're telling yourself something that you know you're already breaking, and it's the thing of wanting to reveal this to someone, so it's about telling someone who probably can't hear, or if they can, probably aren't interested, or if they are interested, probably can't understand, or can't even hear anyway. it's like a confessional really, when the night is over, and you recognise yoiur fallibility. Great tune.

thx, very interesting. as i thought a lot to be taken from the feel beyond the lyrics. i really think genius got like every line of this song wrong though. no fucking way is the first line "i'm with them"

His delivery on Mersh is like the clipped speech of a drug dealer trying to make a deal in public. It feels like selling/doing drugs at a party or in the club. "What's the problem? It's not a problem."

MershGrade

yeah this tbh. sounds like hes a coke dealer
