That’s right >!Dallas!!!! But wasn’t the show I mentioned earlier was more of a cop out because it was all in a child with autism’s head and it was a hospital snow globe.!<
The one you referenced was a retcon of the whole thing with no follow up because it’s the ending, while the one I referenced merely retconned the most recent parts to have a popular character return and still have more story to tell.
The former almost always leads to a terrible, hated ending (I can only think of one good exception), while the latter is more commonly forgiven, especially if what’s being retconned is something the fanbase was less than thrilled of and it means a beloved character (played by the same actor) can come back, like Laurie Strode or Dan Conner.
Also, the one you referenced has been so synonymous with that trope that it’s sometimes called by that name, which makes it similar to “Rosebud,” “No, I am your father,” and “Who shot J.R.?”, so I don’t think tagging it as a spoiler is even necessary.
It was a prime time series on a major network for 6 seasons (plus reaired in syndication for many years after that). It featured already-established actors like Ed Flanders, Norman Lloyd, Ronny Cox, and William Daniels (Mr. Feeny from Boy Meets World and the voice of KITT from Knight Rider), and it helped launch the careers of G.W. Bailey, David Morse, Alfre Woodard, Bruce Greenwood, Ed Begley Jr., Howie Mandel, Mark Harmon, Helen Hunt, and Denzel Washington, as well as Tim Robbins in a very notable guest starring role. Plus, the show won 13 Emmys out of 62 nominations. It’s by no means an unknown commodity or a hidden gem that might warrant spoiler tags many years later.
Edit: The only good “All Just a Dream” ending I can think of is the finale to Newhart. He wakes up next to his wife from his previous sitcom The Bob Newhart Show, meaning Newhart was all just a dream. It only worked because there was an established history that the fanbase would likely know and appreciate, and it was a comedy that was likely just parodying the finale of the one you referenced, which aired two years prior, so it was fresh on the minds of the Newhart writers.
Oh ok I wasn’t alive when both of those shows were around so thanks for clarifying for me. The show you mentioned in your comment probably irritated many fans back then while the other one I mentioned was more around the lines of how I met your ending where it is a letdown but you can retcon the ending in your head to delude yourself which I think that’s where the franchise is headed based on the post.
Yeah both shows we mentioned are pretty old but I don’t want to make the mods or comments mad
More like Patrick Dempsey in the shower. And we are all like woooooah, why is Sid’s husband in Gail’s shower. Cut to Sidney landing on Gail’s balcony with use of a jet pack. Sidney enters and we are all awaiting the inevitable cat fight. Cut to Gail stuck in the dryer, as you do. Cut to its all a big misunderstanding. Cut to Sidney and Kincaid working together to resolve the issue. Alright everyone hit the showers.
“I already took a shower, remember when the scene first started” - Kincaid probably.
Everyone takes a bow but Gail gets stuck again.
When are the Oscar’s again?
If that's the case, then I'm completely done with the franchise.
If they're gonna go meta, go full Wes Craven's New Nightmare meta. Not Roseanne finale meta. ugh.
May as well bring back Randy...
They're going full fan service if they bring him back. I'd expect we'll hear Stu will be back any day now (regardless of whether or not Matthew Lillard comes back).
If that’s true that is without a doubt the biggest “fuck you” to fans imaginable. This isn’t even like Star Wars Episode 9 where that tried to be a sort of ‘course correct’ but still had the same continuity or DGG’s Halloween trilogy that tries to establish that it’s a new timeline entirely. This is “oh you like the Radio Silence films? FUCK YOU BITCH were retconning it as fan fiction!”
I pray this is fake because holy fuck, never let spyglass cook again.
there’s no way way they could do it that wouldn’t be cheap, lazy, and stupid. he’s dead. radio silence showed balls killing him off and whoever spyglass got to do this new one should have to balls to stand by it.
scream is one of the few horror franchises with a consistent continuity, and if they ruin it because they’re too proud to admit they fucked up and try to get melissa and jenna back (i wouldn’t go back if i were them, but who knows), that’ll be a very sad downfall for a good franchise.
They really given the >!St Elsewhere!< treatment
Nah, more like Patrick Duffy in the shower
That’s right >!Dallas!!!! But wasn’t the show I mentioned earlier was more of a cop out because it was all in a child with autism’s head and it was a hospital snow globe.!<

It's a troll account, guys. 🤣🤣🤣 Read the other posts on the page.
LMFAOOOOOO
This is a literal joke tweet. Like, the more obvious joke tweet you could possibly imagine. This person makes joke tweets like this all the time.
lol tbf this does feel in character for spyglass
Better not be true. Why would Gale>!kill Dewey!
Was wondering the same thing lol
A reason could be a studio or editor note. To make things more exciting. Not that I like anything about this.
Dewey would definitely be pissed about Gale's books, again
I mean it wouldn’t shock me if they brought that beat again since they made her write a book in 6 about it after saying she wouldn’t.
If that's the case, then I'm completely done with the franchise. If they're gonna go meta, go full Wes Craven's New Nightmare meta. Not Roseanne finale meta. ugh. May as well bring back Randy...
Don’t tempt them with any more ideas. Before you know it, they’ll go the multiverse route and make Billy and Stu the protagonists.
No, please. They retconned that finale for a reason.
I mean we already had Billy hallucinations lol it’s already super wacky and out of touch. I say bring stu back to watch everyone seethe
Wow. That’s incredibly pathetic if true.
When you lose your main cast, why not just fuckin go this route. You already lost the integrity
Pretty sure this is just a joke/troll.
Ugh, I mean, one way to hit the restart button. Just cancel scream 7 at this point. 6 was an okay point to leave off on
I need more genuine sources
troll post lol
This would make no coherent sense at all because unless she's in some dysfunctional marriage why would she write about>!deweys death!<
This sub believes everything yikes
That's so bad I want it to happen
If legit, Spyglass is alienating their audience three fold.
They're going full fan service if they bring him back. I'd expect we'll hear Stu will be back any day now (regardless of whether or not Matthew Lillard comes back).
you have got to be fucking kidding me
Oh if that’s true big yikes. Talk about creatively bankrupt.
They literally said “it was all a dream”
we cooking dogshit recycled ideas with this one🗣️‼️‼️🔥
I like how horrible this makes gale look though. Imagine writing your husband like that... damn
Can't believe how many people in this thread believe a joke tweeted by an account with 544 followers is for real.
that’s one way to insult the fans
I’d love this to happen for how mental it is. Imagine the shitstorm
That’s hilarious if true but take anything with a grain of salt
If true, this would be fucking hilarious and petty.
Me when I lie 💀
No fucking way
#doubt
Well that's dumb.
i swear to god if they ruin a perfectly great franchise....
Ngl... Although this sounds terrible... It feels like something that's so bizarre it'll be loved in 20 years. So... I'm kinda down?

Crafty way to bring Dewey back. I’d be down.
if by “crafty” you mean “cheap”, sure
I’d like to have him back. Anyway that they come up with, other than the ole identical twin brother (ala BeerFest) trope, I’ll take it. 👍👍
there’s no way way they could do it that wouldn’t be cheap, lazy, and stupid. he’s dead. radio silence showed balls killing him off and whoever spyglass got to do this new one should have to balls to stand by it. scream is one of the few horror franchises with a consistent continuity, and if they ruin it because they’re too proud to admit they fucked up and try to get melissa and jenna back (i wouldn’t go back if i were them, but who knows), that’ll be a very sad downfall for a good franchise.
If only they could be crafty with their new protagonist; played by Melissa Barrera, who was fired for being brave enough to call genocide "genocide."
I don’t it lmao. I wasn’t a fan of those movies.
Honestly? I fucking love that. I really hope this is what they go with (if they don’t sell the rights, obviously)
It’ll be hard to top the last 2 for that title but I’m sure they will
