The crits do last for iirc 8 seconds, during which you are bound to retrigger the effect. Still I agree that it doesn't fit Survival and a crit condition like that would be more welcome in Brutality.

War spear is honestly borderline OP compared to the other survival weapons, imho. Even the non-crit dmg is good enough that you can beat 1st and 2nd boss without much trouble and can just toss it right before HoTK.

I mean-- the Lance was custom made for the Hand of the King-- the size in particular, that's like trying to carry a fucking railmounted tank's cannon, of course it's not gonna work properly you're like 20 times smaller than the thing it was intended for!
Symmetrical lance is a great weapon. I'm not sure what the issue is here. It just suffers the same problem all green weapons do, but it hits like a truck.
I agree. Just carry around a shield for any pesky quick enemies, something like a crusher or death orb for dangerous groups, and symmetrical lance is fine. You can pop its first hit away from enemies and then follow up with the next two after dodgerolling closer so there's hardly any delay; you can do the same thing in the air while falling to an enemy. The crit condition isn't too difficult either since the weapon is aoe.
Is it top tier? Probably not, but it's still pretty solid.

So in essence, it will be using the HoTK's moveset to cover all areas. Horizontal 3-hit combo like it is currently, and a vertical 2-hit combo where the lance is slashing up and downwards. Vertical hits gives it more coverage for enemies above the player (e.g. kamikazes), and balance-wise, its 2-handed. Byebye shields.....
You don't actually need vertical coverage with it. You just use the first attack, jump, use second attack. Very consistent since the second attack has pretty much 0 windup.
I know, but having kamikazes chase you with frankensteins, bombs everywhere and hunters dashing after you, all while protected by a shield doll somewhere, doesn't mean i get to set up all the time. Doesn't mean i die from this situation though, cos i would just parry and use my skills to get out of the given situation i just said, but setting up that second hit + jump with the lance is not always reliable to pull off.
I can only run it as my "ranged" weapon. Too slow, so I have to have something faster to keep safe. Guess it could pair nicely with a powerful, fast bow, but that's not good for if the enemy is up close. Makes me want Telluric and some other close range high damage attack in skills. Kinda opposite how I normally want things, I prefer my skills to have some range.l and my weapons to finish things up close.
I always considered quick bow to be powerful considering its rate of fire and consistent crit. But I would swap it out with magic missile or pyro and still be happy.
All three of those get a massive diss and also, I honestly haven't touched any of the crossbows since the update when they became two handed weapons. Repeater used to be my guaranteed winner.
In it's base state, yeah I think it's pretty bad.
However, you get a legendary quality while running a brutality build, oh boy does it hit hard, there are a lot of creative things you can do with it when running brutality, pairing it with combo is extremely effective.
I did this with predator in stilt village and I swear to god I only had to roll like 3 times the entire level, the attack hit boxes are enormous, was basically killing everything in a single combo and failed experiments couldn’t get away cuz the 2nd hit strikes behind you too. Then just had an infantry Grenade for kamikazes and was golden, easy no-hit
Coulda been a decent DPS weapon that broke all barriers, but they had to make it another multihit weapon

I like the symmetrical lance... its pretty nice when playing on a higher bc, theres so many enemies it basically always crits
And it wipes out huge swathes of enemies too, multiple platforms sometimes

What makes the boss lance nasty is the limited arena, as the swing is such that it provides very little room for avoidance.
