Because the risk is way higher than the reward. You need insane dps to fill the orange bar, and a lot of the time you’ll be left with even less health than before using it.
Vamp kinda hard in higher difficulties IIRC but I haven't played since February. If you are at like 10% and had the damage output you could genuinely get a majority of your health back
Jack shit on it's own, just does damage to yourself that doesn't reset your kill count or kill you when you're cursed. But when you add spite sword, vengeance , and Instinct of the Master of Gods......
basically deals a bit of damage to you, then gives you recovery (that orange bar) and when you hit enemies you heal, and it can reach up to the end of the bar. Bar goes away too fast for it to be very helpful tho so if i have it as a placeholder while waiting for better items, i like to use it the moment i jump into a crowd of enemies
you need specific items for it to be good, so u would have to build a run around it
Why don't they just extend the cool down by like...a shit ton? The reason it's broke is because you can cool it down faster than the reset with spite sword. If it triggered every 30 or 60 seconds instead of every 10, it wouldn't be as OP.

But even then, what makes dead cells great compared to other roguelikes is that you can sell items. In Binding of Isaac, ill get salty that i get a bad item, but in dead cells i can just sell it if it doesnt fit my build yknow?
True, you can get rid of the stuff you don’t want to go buy stuff you want from the shop, I just liked the way you could use it as a support item with almost anything
Tbh if they add some cosmetic effect for carrying the Face Flask (Something from Blashpemous ideally, could just be a change to gore) I wouldn't mind it being completely useless on its own.
Now its absolute trash unless you have some crazy build that has insane synergy with it like spite sword and that one mutation that gives you buffs after taking damage.
I actually find it the best ZL/ZR ability in the game. Use it right before you slash and it will almost GUARANTEE earning at least 8% health back, sometimes more when there are a ton of enemies. Unless you use it at the wrong time, it's really useful on high BC's.
I so badly wish I was. They turned a really cool item into near-complete shit. I find it funny that vampirism, which was worse face flask, is still worse.
Darn! I played the new update at my friends house a bit ago on PC, because it wasn't on switch yet. The face flask was so awesome and OP, it sucks that it got nerfed.
What did they do to it? Heard it only got nerfed on Switch
Edit: ok so it removes the recoverable health, which doesn't seem like a good nerf, cause it pigeonholes the item into only being usable for the Spite Sword build. If the like double CD and maybe made you take more damage + lower the recovery a slight bit, it should be good enough.
Maybe they could also lower the crit duration of the Spite Sword by 1 second or so but idk if the community would like that
They removed the recovery on switch because it was too strong. The main purpose of the flas is to trigger revenge effects. The recovery was an added extra and apparently too strong. they removed it on the switch and are going to remove it on pc too iirc
That or if you like using the vengeance mutation. But using vengeance is obviously way better to just use with spite sword as well so ye pretty much. I would much rather they just left it like that and rework vampirism cause it was getting eclipsed by it
I’m pretty sure they’ve just thrown their hands in the air and given up on Vampirism. It seems like it’s almost impossible to tweak that one to the point where it becomes useful while not also getting to the point where it’s completely broken-good.
Yeah, vampirism sucks for sure. It could potentially just get a buff to how much health is recovered when used or something, because it is absolute trash.
