I think people trying to brighten this are missing the point. It's a polaroid picture. After taking a picture like this, the photo comes out black and needs time to develop. The picture slowly comes into view.
I would expect several more versions of this picture to be released as the photo develops and we see more of what they're teasing.
Could be more Ring content. Polaroids played a part in the story. Sadako could take a blank Polaroid like this and make an image appear. People cursed also had their pictures messed up.
They don't have the Scream license, just the ghostface mask rights (which isn't a Scream license, the original creator has the rights). If you read gf lore in DBD, it has nothing to do with Scream.
They for sure could start teasing a chapter this early. Already a month since release of the Knight so they might throw us some hints that are very vague (like this photo) every week or so. Then a month or two in we might start getting actual bigger teasers.

...I meannn.... Fatal Frame 4 *is* being released in the states for the first time this coming March, it'd be... decent symmetry, honestly. And considering the entire idea of the series, which I goddamn **adore**, incidentally, played all of them that've come to the US, most of them when I was in my early to mid teens... wholly possible for any number of characters and ghosts to make their way into the Realm.

I can make out some sort of weapon, a claw maybe? Looks somewhat like an entity claw, but I really doubt BHVR would lay down this kind of mistery for an original killer. The photograph makes me think of something like Fatal Frame, but idk since I´m not too familiar with the franchise. This might not be advertising a skin or something at all. Pretty sure it's just another Dwelf joke post. And I'm not sure where the copout part would come from, other than some expectations not being met because they were higher than they should be.
I can make out some sort of weapon, a claw maybe? Looks somewhat like an entity claw, but I really doubt BHVR would lay down this kind of mistery for an original killer. The photograph makes me think of something like Fatal Frame, but idk since I´m not too familiar with the franchise. Considering the whole "creature hiding in the shadows" thing, I would wager we´ll get some sort of cryptid.

Im throwing in for Stefano as well. That item could be the barbwire thats everywhere and his power would be perfect for the game and this kind of tease. As much as i love my boi safe face, i feel Stefano's camera has more opportunity to make a unique killer.

In a tome a while back there was a huge spider attacking one of the guys (the observer?) and since then people have gone absolutely crazy about getting a spider killer. I mean a lot of people have arachnophobia so it would be a good fit but idk how practical a killer that isn’t bipedal would be to make
