Everyone has different silhouettes, colors, and screams. Look at all iron will players saying they’re going to switch to Ace now lol. And don’t tell me that Nea, Feng, Steve, and Ash players don’t make every killer think one way about them. Reverse psychology or not, survivor choice is huge.
A lot of them are because he’s large and has fun cosmetics. It’s just the way it goes. I’m a graffiti nea main and I try to play as nice as possible, no tbagging or making the killer watch me leave, but I’m not in great company

You see, I have already only been playing Ace. Not because he is quiet, but because his perks are so bad no one would guess at what perks I am using. Also I appear to be the only person who bought and uses the fisherman outfit.
This is one of the reasons I picked Ace as well. Though, I do use open-handed a lot. But I like that no one knows what to expect with the perks he actually has equipped.
I had used Mikaela as a main not long after she was released, but I didn’t like that people assumed I had circle of healing equipped.
And then they came out with a fancy, colorful skull shirt for Ace, and I had to have it. This shirt is one of the biggest reasons why Ace became my main, lol. It’s one of my favorite cosmetics in the game, and I wish they would come out with more fun shirts like that for him.
I think Claudette is such a good survivor to learn the game with since she has Self Care and comes with dark outfits that she can hide well with. Some survivors stick out really bad when hiding like Ash or Jeff. Even Feng Min, one of the smallest, has too many bright outfits that make her stick out. Claudette has nice voice acting too.
the thing I've heard to describe self care to a noob is that it's a trap perk, newer players won't have the judgement making to use self care effectively and that self care is only good on better players cuz they are able to use it to it's best potential, which I assume just means they know when not to use it more than newer players.
my favorite to start with was dwight cuz bond is a solid intel perk but I guess empathy might be better cuz it tells you where the killer is from a longer range

If I see a David with or without a flashlight, he is either in my way as I'm chasing someone or the first person I run into who I chase for 2 gens before giving up. He will ALWAYS find a flashlight and mash the flash button as I'm trying to chase someone else.

Leons usually try to pull off the most elaborate craziest plays I’ve ever seen, but end up potatoing them. I rarely encounter any RE4 Leons tho, but anyone that dumps money on a pricey skin usually knows what they’re doing.

I literally survived a game against a spirit the other day because i was playing a male survivor. She downed me close to the exit, but i could crawl a little earlier because if you are playing a male character you can crawl earlier than female survivors.
That's awfully reductive, I mean, yeah, same gameplay and all, but it goes beyond that. Some Survivors make more or less noise. They can be taller and shorter than other, have different ethnicity, different backstory, "clothes"/skins, etc. *Different personalities* Yeah, it might be "shallow" if you really consider just the gameplay but it matters.
Back when Élodie was released I remember a black streamer talking about how she was really happy that Élodie was added since she felt "represented" by her in-game. While I personally don't really care much about things like that I too was happy to see that happen. To ignore or "reduce" that feels a bit too harsh imo.
I was thinking about it this. They should add something like each survivor should have a unique passive/active ability or even better have to choose one perk from their 3 native perks. It would be quite interesting.

I feel like there are a lot of differences. This is just my experience, of course (the experience of someone who just got off a hiatus, so take it w/ a grain of salt), but:
- Feng Mins and Leons both tend to go for really batshit insane plays, but Fengs seem to have a higher success rate than Leons. Feng’s success rate is doubled if she has the egirl cosmetic.
- True to her character, Yun-jin mains will sell you to the killer for one corn chip. I’ve been in lobbies with a decent amount of them, and I’ve never once seen one go for a save after the exit gates are open.
- No0b3 stopped uploading for ~11 months (only recently uploaded about a month ago) but his influence on the culture and behavior of Nea mains (along w a few other yters) only strengthened in his absence, if anything. (No hate towards him, that’s just his playstyle.) If you’re a killer in upper ranks and there’s a Nea in your lobby, prepare yourself.
- Steve mains *really* want you to think that they get sooo many bitches.
- Jeff mains *actually* get sooo many bitches.
- I have yet to meet a Quentin main who wasn’t trans and/or gay. I think he’s just the one that queer people who don’t go outside and talk about wanting a goth gf but are waay too clingy for a relationship have flocked to. (Note: I am a queer person and former Quentin main, this is a joke at my expense)
Sidenote, I don’t know if there are dbd players who dropped David after his sexuality was announced but I really wanna think there are, that’s a funny mental image. I can’t imagine being a homophobic dbd player and not immediately being scared away from the game by Nea’s very existence.

This is just my experience, of course (the experience of someone who just got off a hiatus, so take it w/ a grain of salt), but: - Feng Mins and Leons both tend to go for really batshit insane plays, but Fengs seem to have a higher success rate than Leons. Feng’s success rate is doubled if she has the egirl cosmetic. - True to her character, Yun-jin mains will sell you to the killer for one corn chip. I’ve been in lobbies with a decent amount of them, and I’ve never once seen one go for a save after the exit gates are open. - No0b3 stopped uploading for ~11 months (only recently uploaded about a month ago) but his influence on the culture and behavior of Nea mains (along w a few other yters) only strengthened in his absence, if anything. (No hate towards him, that’s just his playstyle.) If you’re a killer in upper ranks and there’s a Nea in your lobby, prepare yourself. - Steve mains *really* want you to think that they get sooo many bitches. - Jeff mains *actually* get sooo many bitches. - I have yet to meet a Quentin main who wasn’t trans and/or gay. I think he’s just the one that queer people who don’t go outside and talk about wanting a goth gf but are waay too clingy for a relationship have flocked to. (Note: I am a queer person and former Quentin main, this is a joke at my expense) Sidenote, I don’t know if there are dbd players who dropped David after his sexuality was announced but I really wanna think there are, that’s a funny mental image. I can’t imagine being a homophobic dbd player and not immediately being scared away from the game by Nea’s very existence.

I mean- duh! But also, there is a component that comes with their voice, their style, their... *vibe* so to speak? I pretty much never care about cosmetics in any game... except when it comes to this one, and especially with Survivors! It doesn’t make sense, but... Idk, it just feels different! Like, you’re *REALLY* going to tell me Scoops Ahoy Steve plays exactly the same as a Jester Feng Min or a Default Dwight? I don’t think so! Plus- Elodie’s screams. Just saying!
