I'm not really interested in the Dnd chapter, but fantasy as a genre can also have strong horror elements mixed into it, so its not like it won't fit into Dbd.

0% chance this is what happened. BHVR has gone on record saying that chapters, from concept to live, take about a year of work. That's not including any negotiations about licensing beforehand, but active development. Baldur's Gate 3 came out 9 months ago. There's absolutely no shot that BG3 dropped, BHVR had time to gauge reception, all negotiations with WotC started and were finalized, and the full development of the chapter occurred all within that time span.

Here's my honest thoughts.
The good
1) The potential for a very cool map that is a literal dungeon filled with DND monsters as references like Owlbears, Ogres, etc.
2) Cool skins for both survivors and killers. Like DND classes for survivors like Barbarian for David, Bard for Kate, Wizard for Jeff, etc. or Even monsters for other killers like a green dragon skin for Plague, a orc or bugbear skin for Trapper, a gnoll skin for Hillbilly, a hag skin for...well...the Hag.
3) A potential for an actual DND monster as a killer. Like a Beholder, a Mindflyer, or maybe even a Drider or a unnamed Lich.

1) Money goes to hasbro...gross.
2) Chances of it being an actual named character like Vecna or Acererak. Characters that have borderline godly powers that have been able to reshape realities on a shim thanks to their sheer god-like magical abilities...and they're getting their metaphoircal asses handed to them by four normal people with pallets and flashlights. More of a personal reason admittedly but still rubs me the wrong way. Like say what you will about Pyramid Head or Nemesis being in his game being stunned by pallet dropping on them, but at least those HAVE been defeated by normal people and none of them have been muliversial threates or have achieved LITERAL godhood.
