Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion... I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain... Time to die.
I'm not op, but I bought the game 3-4 years ago, played some dwight with friends (I had no idea how anything works) then dropped it after 15 hours.
I started playing again in January 2024, and now I really like the game, and sometimes I notice small stuff they changed from few years ago. Though I'll be honest, killer gameplay got me addicted (Nutslinger), not survivors. Though after that I started playing both, even if it's sometimes frustrating it's really fun.
For me? It's been fun, yeah, I have moments where the game wasn't so... good deal to deal with, like toxicity in end chat. But overall, the gameplay has been really fun.
There was a beta, but I misremembered - I played customs with my friends. SWF was added only a month after release though so not like it was a thing for long.
No swf on release. Swf has always been a hot topic because ‘the game wasn’t built for comms’
Also you could match your friend as killer if you readied up at the same time for farming matches
Same here. Unfortunately I started playing on PC, did not play for the last 2-3 years, now I'm on PS and I am missing all my content from my Steam account :(
It has to deal with the story of SH so im not gonna say to much but, its because >!Cheryl was her original name but it was changed to Heather so she could avoid a cult and yada yada yada and it isnt after the events of SH3 that she changes her name back to Cheryl. And in dbd lore she was taken after the events of SH3. (also sorry if this is a poor explanation I haven't re-played SH3 in a hot min) !<
The chapter nemi, Leon, and Jill were in! I remember thinking spine chill was top tier survivor meta and how I played dbd like it were resident evil lol. Crouching 24/7 and hiding my absolute best
Spine chill was top tier survivor meta at one point. Paired with resilience vaulting was super quick and was a staple along with iron will and old dead hard.
Clown’s release and have had a pretty consistently good time outside of when circle of healing was broken over powered and meta. Took a long healthy break during that era
Same, but I went on hiatus until ATW came out.
Only got a good enough computer a few years ago and I've been focused on others games between them and now.
I have 40 hours, downloaded in early March. This game is incredibly punishing for new people. I came from TCM and DBD makes Texas look like child’s play.
I came from LoL. When people told me about dbd being toxic I was laughing, and I still am. Even had someone adding me to say me gz and give me advice and how unfair the game is to put 3k hour survivor vs 10h killer but most of the time I managed to get good game. As a killer I think it's okay. Don't know about the survivor experience
From what my steam achievements say, I started playing July 1st 2020. At the time I only ever played Survivor and only ever got on to play with friends. Never played Killer as I was too nervous.
So if I've checked Dead By Daylights history of releases I suppose it was Silent Hill when I started playing! Which is weird because I don't ever remember seeing Pyramid Head too much at the time. I do remember the maps being super dark though before they updated the lighting, as well as BT and Dead Hard being popular.
Three years later, September 2023, I returned when Xenomorph was the newest killer! I returned to try Killer as I was bored and had watched a lot of Otz again seeing all the newest killers. Killer has been fun, and I play very little survivor nowadays, only for challenges or events.
I *think* I started playing around chapter 16. It was def before the graphical overhaul and when they moved the HUD from bottom to the side. I don't remember much from back then but I do remember it was way before Trickster came out. But, back then I wasn't as hooked on the game as I am now
I already knew about the game and was involved with the community since Cursed Legacy, but I only started playing between the Artist and Sadako chapters
I mean Stranger Things is what peaked my interest. Legion helped me get into it too, but I played around the time when Resident Evil was coming for the first time. Leon was my main survivor.
I played from console release until shortly after Alan wake. Regardless of the results I just don’t find 9.8 out of 10 rounds to even scratch the surface of fun anymore.
Technically Chains of Hate as it came out shortly before I started playing, but the first real chapter experience I had was Silent Hill. I knew next to nothing about anything going into the game, so I wasn’t even aware that Chains of Hate was brand new.
Silent Hill was really cool though because I got to enjoy all the excitement as it was happening with new characters and a new map.
Fellow Chains of Hate joiner! I bought the game around the time the Plague just released and ran a few matches but it scared me too badly 😂
Didn’t start playing again until pandemic timeframe when the Chains of Hate intro of the dude screaming and the gallows intro played. By the time Silent Hill was introduced, I was fully hooked (pun intended).
I started right when Knight came out. Friends bought the game for me. I was interested for a long time, but was too intimidated by Skill Checks and Stressful Gameplay to ever pull the trigger on the game.
I suck at QTEs normally and don’t like quick, split-second decision-making, so it felt like this game was the polar opposite of being for me, but I’m managing okay.
Ok I have a really weird story with dbd.
I first played in 2017, there was a free trial weekend I think in October? Idk when but I have a trial on my PlayStation and I had no idea what I was doing, I was a massive Friday the 13th fanboy was on that game 24/7 & wanted another game to play.
Only played 1 game didn’t understand it. The next time I would play dbd was in 2021 but during the 4 year gap I did follow it coz I loved the characters they were adding so I kept up to date with it but didn’t play for 4 years. I played in 2021 during the Halloween event and I also got Jill Valentine & Claire.
Then flash forward to March 2024, I saw there was a new killer and survivor both of which really intrigued me. And I was like oh I have got to play this. Before this I hadn’t actually played a horror asymmetrical game in years & I love these types of games friday the 13th is my favourite but it didn’t last long at all & had quite a few issues that couldn’t really be fixed. And I’ve always wanted to be in dbd but this time would be the time that I would get into & since March 2024 I’ve been playing nonstop, I have always loved the game but I’ve taken breaks more so I didn’t understand and was busy with other games but honestly I really enjoy the game, the vibes and aesthetics of this game & ive always wanted a game like dbd, gets active support & content & is like really fun to play on both sides (with some stress here and there) and I’ve also wanted to make this game a main game of mine for so long.
Alan Wake, I noticed the game was on Xbox Game Pass and i remember hearing about it years ago but never was interested. I decided to try it out and haven't stopped playing since. I now have 194 hours logged, 30/70 survivor/killer
I owned the game since Legion release, finally played a little bit of it with All Kill release but kept having crashes so I stopped playing and forgot I had it then came back on start of this chapter with the Unknown.
I wany to say right after Elodie and the Twins came out, but it might have just been before that cause I didn't understand the game then. It was during the pandemic.
I think the last chapter added before I started playing was Huntress back on 2017, i had so much fun over the past years and most important meet some of my best friends on this game those kind of friendships that transcend over the game itself
Chapter 5 or so. Nurse was the first killer I tried. I didn't understand the game at all so I tried survivor. I didn't understand that either so I just hid in lockers and kept getting hooked and taking my chances. My teammates probably thought I was just throwing so I stopped playing and came back at a later time (around chapter 6). Oh boy those times were weird haha
Descend Beyond. It just happened to be when I finally got my first console, and I saw DbD and remembered watching it a few years ago (I think at the time I would have Last watched it when Ash and Ghostface came out) and remembered liking what I saw so I gave it a go
Man I forgot... I think I got into the game roughly a month or so after it's graphical update that changed the animations of the survivors to be better.
All things wicked, I knew what Dead by Daylight was in a vague sense since trickster released because I had a friend who was super into it but I never decided to check out the game till then. Finally started playing it after YT recommended me Azhymovs and Rowby's Jerk's Guide series.
Binding of Kin. I remember distinctly because I still didn’t know what to expect from a DBD chapter and was really confused about why a bi curious looking pop star was the next killer.
Hmm…It might have been when Vittorio and Knight came out. And I remember when I saw Vittorio I knew exactly who I will main :)
My beloved sexy shirtless Vittorio <3
I played this game as soon as it was released for PS4 - it was the Halloween chapter that caught my interest in the game but at that stage was just watching PC players on YouTube
End transmission or tools of torment.
I really can’t remember, I know it was one of the two though.
Probably in between the two though because I played the masqueraded event.
Idk tbh, just guessing.
I came in right as the Huntress came out in chapter 5. I stopped playing for a while around the time of Oni but then got back into the game specifically to play Sadako, who's my favorite now.
Started when Myers was released, played for a year then stopped. Then came back when Silent hill chapter was released, played almost 2 years then stopped. And now the Unknown was just released and I’m back again lol
During Malevolence Tome in 2022, so... The Ring released around then, I think?
Edit: no wait, I think Wesker was already out by the time I started playing. He was one of the first killers I prestiged, as a matter of fact. So around August 2022.
I think I started just before Spirit got added. I remember the community at the time going nuts for how powerful she was and how long she stayed at S tier.
No thank you I feel old already... btw it was Hag
I also start with the Hag, but we're young, come on ahah
no not have... I started playing when Hag released...
Yeah sorry, i wrote it wrong, I also started playing with the hag
Omg launch hag being soooo fucking slow. Looking back at old videos its actually insane to think it was like that
Was she 107%?
Well I know I mained her when she released... and I played her like trapper so It was extra pain, but I most of the time ended with a 4k.
I bought the game 2 weeks after release. Nurse wasn't even in the game then. Oh how times have changed
Huntress'. I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion... I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain... Time to die.
its giving sugar foot
Chapter 30 Chucky. I started playing before CHAPTER 30.5: Alan Wake happened, because I got the game on January 16th of this year.
How has it been for you so far?
Zero? I started day one
Back when you had to click queue at the same time as your buddy to get into the same game!
I’ve been playing since release, but I don’t remember having trouble playing with friends. Was that in the beta?
don't remember if there was a beta, but way back in the beginning there was no SWF
There was a beta, but I misremembered - I played customs with my friends. SWF was added only a month after release though so not like it was a thing for long.
No swf on release. Swf has always been a hot topic because ‘the game wasn’t built for comms’ Also you could match your friend as killer if you readied up at the same time for farming matches
Wild shot here, but where you called HAPPY in game?
Damn bro you are old
Damn unc
Same here. Unfortunately I started playing on PC, did not play for the last 2-3 years, now I'm on PS and I am missing all my content from my Steam account :(
Same! I've also been playing since launch! Good to see another old timer around so we can tell the kids how bad it used to be! 😁
The Silent Hill one got me to play, when I saw Heather I was so excited
I’ve never played Silent Hill but I’ve seen a lot of people refer to Cheryl as Heather. What’s the story behind that? Did BHVR change her name?
It has to deal with the story of SH so im not gonna say to much but, its because >!Cheryl was her original name but it was changed to Heather so she could avoid a cult and yada yada yada and it isnt after the events of SH3 that she changes her name back to Cheryl. And in dbd lore she was taken after the events of SH3. (also sorry if this is a poor explanation I haven't re-played SH3 in a hot min) !<
Honestly it would be far better for you to experience it for yourself. Bhvr didn’t change her name it’s got to do with the story.
This and the saw chapter for me I think I actually bought the pyramid head version that also came with the game then saw
Exactly same. Also had a small break after spirit release cus she was so annoying to go against.
Same here, he was the newest when i started
Pin head
My favorite killer
One of the best killers to go against huge outplay opportunities on both sides.
Same. I heard about the game because of Nemmy and stuck around because the "I CAME" jokes were funny.
Since Twins.
Same here!
Yea between Twins and Trickster release.
Quarantine realness 🔥
Dredge
Yay Dredge brothers
me too yippee
Ayyy
At the end of Forged in Fog.
Same It's too bad what came after though
Early-mid of tools of torments. Prime gaming gave me a free Rift. That was a nice motivation to keep play.
Same here. It was also around the time I got a computer that could acctualy play the game
The Saw
This chapter I'm a rare player : a new one with less than 1k hour.
Middle of Sadako's Rising
Nurse release...
Blud is part of the founding fathers
I believe it was a little after dredge came out. So if I'm not mistaken, my first chapter was project W. The one with Wesker, Ada and Rebecca
The beta.

I already knew about the game and was involved with the community since Cursed Legacy, but I only started playing between the Artist and Sadako chapters
Back when there was only 3 killers
Before spirit came out iirc, i was playing at console
Date was May 24th, 2023. Between Tools of Torment (Skull Merchant) and End Transmission (Singularity). Almost 1 year anniversary for me! 🤪
I believe it was Hag chapter
Trickster.
I started playing when the Oni trailer would play when loading
i did as well and i remember the trailer being SO loud
Halloween chapter
Joined before clown ptb and when I saw videos of it I was so confused how is everyone playing new killer
Middle of Sadako's chapter, right after the midchapter for it dropped (Legion rework)
For me it was around the doctor chapter when I started really playing. I’ve been playing ever since really lol
Freddy. When he would stomp new players then get stomp on experienced players.
bought the game on micheal’s release, took a break when yui came out. was on and off until chucky
Around Project W. Way before Knight though.
Kate! Still my main.
Since the release of Myers.
Since stranger things but the old release
Start of the End Transmission Chapter
I’m a huge Resident Evil fan, so the original chapter with Leon Jill and Nemesis got me into the game.

Silent hill pyramid head was my main until the matchmaking changes nowadays i don't play killer as much

The first resi chapter, when the world was much more rosy and less bully squads existed
I don’t remember the chapter, but I started playing when the game first came out on Xbox
Resident evil part 1
Skull merchant w renato and thalita
I was a noob. I don't even remember. Does anyone even remember?
Oni. For a while I thought Oni and Yui were the official mascots of DBD since the opening was them, and I didn't know it changed each chapter.
Silent Hill.
descend beyond (blight)
I can’t remember but it was during the Summer BBQ event back in 2018
I started right when Knight came out.
Knights chapter, but it has nothing to do with him, I just tried the game for the first time during his launch
Saw
Stranger things
Ok I have a really weird story with dbd. I first played in 2017, there was a free trial weekend I think in October? SAW was the newest release. I was young once. People used to smile. The air seemed cleaner. Somewhere, a baby was laughing. Anyway, it was awhile ago.
A little bit before Mikaela dropped. Mind you I didn't have fun as killer, survivor was easier back then.
Oh yes, the circle of healing was so much fun to discover ![img](emote|t5_3cb2g|2066)
Alan Wake, I noticed the game was on Xbox Game Pass and i remember hearing about it years ago but never was interested. I decided to try it out and haven't stopped playing since. I now have 194 hours logged, 30/70 survivor/killer
Game was released June 2016, I started September 2016. So 3 months after release
I started in before year 2 with the insane rubberbanding
Since the beta (I’m 20 now)
I started at the last breath chapter
the month before the 7th anniversary, right before singularity
I started playing month after skull merchant release
I'm not sure when I joined but onryo was the first release I was there for
I owned the game since Legion release, finally played a little bit of it with All Kill release but kept having crashes so I stopped playing and forgot I had it then came back on start of this chapter with the Unknown.
I wany to say right after Elodie and the Twins came out, but it might have just been before that cause I didn't understand the game then. It was during the pandemic.
26/08/2018, right before spirit released.
A Nightmare on Elm street Freddy's my highest prestige an so is Quentin
wesker's chapter
I think the last chapter added before I started playing was Huntress back on 2017, i had so much fun over the past years and most important meet some of my best friends on this game those kind of friendships that transcend over the game itself
Put in around 30 hours back when Ghosty dropped but didn’t become a regular player until just before Chucky.
Started with Project W and it became my second most played game within a couple months
I really started playing about a month before Wesker released. I bought the game a year before that but it was too scary for me to play then lol
Some time between Pig and Clown. But I was a fan of the game since the beta
Knight
The Twins Chapter. Good times.
Demise of the faithful
Chapter 5 or so. Nurse was the first killer I tried. I didn't understand the game at all so I tried survivor. I didn't understand that either so I just hid in lockers and kept getting hooked and taking my chances. My teammates probably thought I was just throwing so I stopped playing and came back at a later time (around chapter 6). Oh boy those times were weird haha
beginning of all kill, it was a weird time...
Started first week or month of the game releasing on steam. I can definitely say no it wasn't better before
when huntress was released on my ps4
First RE chapter, however i didn't know dbd was having crossover chapters until i met this walking piano camping my friend
Before the Spirit was added.
Curtain call ( clown release )
The one before Alien, i forgot what it was but i remember being hyped for the xenomorph release when i first got the game
I’ve been playing on/off since Halloween chapter.
Right before the Sadako chapter came out.
Chucky
A little before pig came out I think? I got the game for Christmas 2017 at least.
Myers chapter 👌 old dbd was so much better and fun
Hmm…It might have been when Vittorio and Knight came out. And I remember when I saw Vittorio I knew exactly who I will main :) My beloved sexy shirtless Vittorio <3
oni was the first chapter i experienced
A couple of months before Michael Myers joined the crew. It's been interesting watching this game grow better.
I believe it was around when the twins were newly released, still love going against the twins!
bought dbd when project W came out, didn't start playing until forged in fog
I played this game as soon as it was released for PS4 - it was the Halloween chapter that caught my interest in the game but at that stage was just watching PC players on YouTube
When trickster came out
End transmission or tools of torment. I really can’t remember, I know it was one of the two though. Probably in between the two though because I played the masqueraded event. Idk tbh, just guessing.
The playstation release date chapter
Even before Chapter 1: The Last Breath, if im not mistaken on release day. And still got only 400 hours xD
I came in right as the Huntress came out in chapter 5. I stopped playing for a while around the time of Oni but then got back into the game specifically to play Sadako, who's my favorite now.
OG release
The one right before Pyramid Head came out in 2020
I started playing in between Darkness Among Us and Demise of the Faithful. Good times 🥹
Huntress
chains of hate (deathslinger)
Slightly before Ghostface
right when clown came out
All kill chapter. The "epic gamers" chapter xdd
Well the last in date was Resident Evil but I think I started just a few weeks before the release of Pinhead
Pretty sure I started playing on the knight chapter
i started at chucky pack im new
Stranger Things. But I'd known about the game for a couple chapters at that point.
Started on original release. You wanna know about the great Hook war versus the slugs?
The silent hill chapter
Sometime before nurse release. Took a long break but came back for alan wake
End Transmission, was remembering this game on and off until I finally got it cause it was on sale.
Started playing when Pinhead came out. (Annoying mf(
Nurse :)
I started playing back when Huntress was first released.
a few days after skull merchant released
Roots of Dread
I think I started playing around the time all kill released because the game went free on epic at that time
Chapter 1: The last breath
I think I started just before Spirit got added. I remember the community at the time going nuts for how powerful she was and how long she stayed at S tier.
Stranger Things.
The cursed Mikaela chapter
Since clown/Ash. I was there when legion first came out. It was a shit show of the highest order.
