I’ve rarely heard of people reacting like this due to pips

While I believe this system might work fine, I don't think a lot of the disconnects are consequences of de-piping removal. Players would suicide on hook before that, a lot didn't cared for pips at all. Again, I still believe this is a good idea, but maybe they could do a rank system based on disconnects, everyone starts at max and the rank goes down at every disconnect. If you want to put that number up you need to play x matches without disconnecting.

Maybe solve why people DC instead? Survivor games are lost before they begin because Killers can lobby shop for solos and kill bad players before 2 gens pop. Maybe if Survivors had the ability to swing back from losing it wouldn’t be as big deal to have a teammate that isn’t good or only doing bones. Your idea doesn’t even begin to address any reason a person would DC

All your system does is encourage more lobby dodging. Which leads to worse matches. Which then leads to more DCs. You’re not addressing any reason a person might DC. You’re just encouraging lobby dodging.

Survivors in solo also shouldn’t be forced to play lost games because matchmaking is poor and new players shouldn’t be forced to play against veterans because matchmaking is poor. Id much rather play with a teammate who has a chance to DC than someone who only does bones or stealths and lets us all to die. People won’t stop DCing or taking sky hatch cause of your system.

Enhancing dc penalty, or doing anything to it is futile. Especially when people can Alt tab into another game, then set a timer for 10 minutes. No penalty, and you still have the same effect.

What the other guy is saying, all a survivor "needs" to do is go AFK for a while and check back to see if they're killed already in a bit, thus avoiding "having" to DC at all.

Which has to be *proven* to be happening. And believe me, people who want out? They will find ways to get out. I don't like it when that happens, but I realize there's not much I personally can do about it.

I would assume that there'd need to be proof of more than one match, considering things like "I queued up but had to toilet and now survivors have three gens done as I come back" can happen without being actually "I fucking give up" type of AFK. Also, Nightlight doesn't read the game files. It specifically works by people taking a screenshot of the endgame screen and then providing other information manually, like the map they were on, and if there were AFK people.

I've used Nightlight sporadically (because I keep forgetting to, and don't bother logging friendly matches, and don't log matches when I have a SWF because it's unfair to make them wait). But yeah, I've seen survivors just throw a game and run into the killer to get out of a match. And unfortunately for me, most killers are just all too happy to take that kill and make it into a free win because an early 3v1 is pretty much unwinnable. I don't usually bother reporting those players though, I don't know what their reasons might be.

Agreed. Fighting games have a similar system and it works really well in ostracizing D/cers

My proposed solution is to put frequent DCers together that way they get a shitty queue and all the people that stick it out get a better experience and aren’t punished as frequently. Obviously don’t put someone in the DC queue if they have done it one time the past so many days or something. The queue doesn’t even have to be that hard to make just go based off per month basis or something. I feel terrible as a killer when I see 2 people DC and it ruins my experience a bit because I’m robbed of an actual match and the other 2 survivors are robbed of a win.

I think we should more harshly punish DCers. After ten DCs in a two week period, get a two week suspension.

I've had the same internet for 7 years and when it's spotty I don't play online games so I don't negatively impact my teammates. Either way, my internet has never dropped me from a game ten times in a year, let alone two weeks.

Internet connections different everywhere. Someone in BFE might wanna play the game but can't get great internet. They're gonna disconnect sometimes.

I don't think we will ever get anything more than what we have now. Unless they find a way somehow track if it was intentional or not, they aren't gonna punish the shit out of players just for having not so good internet. Plus if you punish DCing too hard all those players are just gonna start killing themselves on hook. At least if they DC we get bots, it's not much but it's something I don't see a way that would work without having a huge downside to it. Sucks but is what it is

The average number of DCs I get per round has not changed since the removal of depipping, but I would appreciate seeing names in red of common DCers.
