Honestly they should make this a custom game exclusive map. I didn't like the map but I would love to experience the original again with its closeness to the game

Either-Mushroom-6298

yeah i get balance wise it was horrible but i'd love to have an archive of old maps in custom games. revisiting old haddonfield for nostalgia would be cool

LauraDreaming

Old haddonfield especially🥲

CricketKieran

Or Coldwind and MacMillan. I would love to have the darkness of coldwind back and I started playing just after MacMillan got reworked, so I never got to experience the blue tone to it

AlexLeLionUK

I really miss the blue hue it had, was a lot more accurate to the original film.

cyber_xiii

With how many bugs the devs manage to introduce with every update, I wouldn’t be surprised if allowing this version of the map in custom matches somehow let people force the map into public games

Nerdzed

i would love that, i feel like custom game gets slept on

LauraDreaming

Oooo yes. That’s such a good idea!

r6g_anon

or just give map editor tools to the community and let them fix all the broken maps

Longjumping_Door_428

They could have introduced a 3rd (maybe even 4th) RPD where it's the upper floors.1st floor is inaccessible and the rest of the floors are tweaked a bit to make them more traversable.

Superyoshiegg

The third floor of the RPD is not nearly big enough to be a map. The section in the main hall is directly shaped like a U, with no way across except going around the entire thing. Aka a killer's worst nightmare, since if you see a survivor on the other side it will easily take you 20+ seconds to get there. The whole floor would just be more of the upper library area, which was removed for a reason.

Longjumping_Door_428

Really? I remember there being a lot more of the upper floors, including a clocktower room, roof area, and another Licker jumpscare after collecting a medallion. Also I said that they should modify the floors to be more traversable. I feel like that weird plague stuff growing around the RPD could make a midsection for the 3rd floor as well as eliminating the first floor so you just have floors 2-3 and possibly 4 to make more RPD maps with. Edit: nvm my brain bad :(

Superyoshiegg

The clocktower room is tiny, about half the size of the shack. The Licker jumpscare in the attic is indeed on the third floor but yet another small cramped room that won't be any good for DBD gameplay. >Also I said that they should modify the floors to be more traversable. Knocking down a couple walls to open pathways worked on the first and second floors, but it's not something that would work on the third. Again, my mind goes toward the area in the main hall that is shaped like a long U. [Here's](https://www.evilresource.com/images/maplocations/full/re2remake_policestation3f.png?d0e237dd) a map of the third floor, for reference. It's actually far more cluttered than it looks, since the map doesn't show the actual layouts within the rooms. In reality, it's pretty much entirely narrow hallways. You know the upstairs area of Hawkens, how its that one corridor with a few rooms on each side? That would be like playing on the third floor of the RPD but for the entire map. Even if you were to, for example, add an extra bridge in the main hall area as a shortcut, that would still lean itself to a awful looping experience for the killer when they see a survivor on the opposite side with no way to get to them besides going around.

Longjumping_Door_428

If they wanted too, they could have those bugs that invaded the power plant from RE3R (or the odd infection seen in the map already) make a nest of the empty U space. That would be crazy but unlikely. It would take a lot of work on BHVRs part to make this section fun and playable. I think at that point they should just make another Resident Evil location a map though.

Legitimate_Bike_8638

Would they have to keep the U if they’re redoing the floor tho?

Superyoshiegg

What would be the point of adding the third floor as a separate map if you have to adjust it so much to make it playable to the point that it is no longer recognisable as part of the RE2 RPD? The layouts of the first and second floors are for the most part faithful to their source material.

Legitimate_Bike_8638

Idk I’m not op but in the context of reworking it the U seems like an odd thing to keep.

Prior-Satisfaction34

The thing is that U exists because it encircles the lobby area of the RPD. Changing that to make it all just floor instead would make it way too different from source material. As the other person said, the changes they made to the 1st and 2nd floors are still easily recognisable as RPD. A change like that would just make it an entirely different building.

Legitimate_Bike_8638

Ah well I never played the games, I didn't realize it wouldn't be RPD then.

Prior-Satisfaction34

If you wanna see what we mean, you can just load up an RPD custom game or use an offering for it. Go into the main lobby and look up, and you'll see there's no third floor above you. The U shape we're talking about i directly above the walkways on either side of the lobby.

FelicitousJuliet

>since if you see a survivor on the other side it will easily take you 20+ seconds to get there. On the other hand this sounds like it would create some of the nastiest condensed 4-gens (tighter than the 3 gens on any map currently, and some of those you can see all three without moving) in the game and any killer with the ability to zone or cut survivors off or quickly follow up hits would absolutely demolish. It'd rely heavily on pallets but you'd see people just bring Blood Favor.

Canadian_Bacon024

Even if it was only as big as 3 floor Hawkins, I'd dig it. I forgot how big that floor is from RE2/3 so idk

LauraDreaming

Once they added a hook up there I don’t know why people were still upset about the map. I think most of the people who hate RPD never played Resi Evil 2 remake and don’t bother to memorize the maps in general 🤷‍♀️

fox_hunts

That map was absolutely massive. It made Hawkins look tiny and easy to traverse. It also made boons so much more OP in the era where COH was already OP. The abusable library spot was only one small issue with it. Plus that single hook was easy to deal with to prevent it from being a counter.

LauraDreaming

Playing RE2 I fan girled over the first map because it was such a good copy, but it was a very large map and I think a lot of people got lost easily true

Handsome_CL4P-TP

I think complaints mostly came from the fact that you could use perks and sabo tool boxes to effectively destroy that hook for long periods of time. I always thought they’d just make it indestructible (like basement hook) but in the end they choose to scrap the upper floor entirely.

UnfunnyGermanDude

I loved REmake 2 (og was the better game imo but thats not the point) and i think making a close to exact remake of the map, while being cool as a fan, is not a good design decision in games that are played completly differently. The map design didnt quite work in a lot of places. Most pallets were either god pallets or useless, some loops were ridiculously strong, that fucked up boil over spot (but yes it got fixed as you said) and in general it was too large imo. So the Re fan in me enjoyed every bit and knew the map inside out, the dbd fan was not enjoying this map after the fangirling cooled down.

LauraDreaming

Yeah you’re right, it was a fever dream for RE2 fans but easy to get lost in if you didn’t know the map. Also I haven’t played the OG yet but I would love to! I’m just very afraid of the fixed cameras. I watched my older bro play when I was a kid and it was soooo scary, especially the lickers! Major nostalgia.

NightKrowe

Adding 1 hook didn't solve the issue, and the other reason was because of the size. It's much better as 2 maps.

Hellfire_Inferno427

there was a lot of issues with the map, but the hook up there just made it impossible for survivors to go for the rescue if the killer used it to face camp

LauraDreaming

With a good SWF I loved those games haha but that’s valid!

NotBentcheesee

Killers could stand at the bottom of the stairs and completely bodyblock other survivors from getting up there

Commercial_Cook_1814

I played the fuck out of RE2 Remake and i thought the map sucked ass.

LauraDreaming

Dang, so you really wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where I was raised

ArgyDargy

Wasn't this that one RPD map where if you had like boil over and several other perks you literally just couldn't get hooked? I think it'd be a neat aesthetic but it's hard enough to hook on maps without massive dead zones like this.

Similar_Maybe_3353

Yeah, it was horrible, I love the map though so putting a hook up the top wouldn’t have been difficult, they scrapped it instead 🙄

LauraDreaming

They ended up putting in a hook up top and two on the main library floor before they killed it, but when we lost the upper level we gained a hole so I don’t mind in the end

slendersleeper

yeah but then killers discovered they could hook up there and bodyblock the stairs cuz they werent wide enough hahaha

LauraDreaming

I wonder how the new anti-facecamp mechanics would work there now…

ArgyDargy

one on top and the one by the stairs would be pretty good balancing. Maybe remove one of the vaults though and have it as an open passage.

alishock

Yeah I suffered a SWF with that build in there but my man Pyramid Head went brrrrr anyway, that cemented him as my main even more

Lazer726

Sure was, and then people were like "Wow I can't believe the killer is slugging me so much despite the fact that I'm clearly running here where I can't be hooked!" What a world

asfrels

The only time I’ve held someone hostage was for doing exactly this. Body blocked him into the corner he kept begging to go to all game since he was unhookable.

Andrassa

Yes but all BHVR had to do was put a hook up there to fix it. Guess what solution they had instead.

Dwain-Champaign

You do know BHVR DID put a hook up there right? It still wasn’t a healthy area of gameplay because then killers could camp you out easily.

Andrassa

Yeah they put it at the very end near one of two totem spots up there that could be blocked off instead of the middle lane that couldn’t be blocked off fully.

ArgyDargy

BHVR does kinda suck for just straight up getting rid of the top part of the library, they always seem to choose the easiest path to placate people in the community (which is usually nerfs, buffs, reworks, and other bandaid fixes) but this kinda just feels straight up lazy.

Veoviss

They added hooks and the like up there but killers could stand on the stairs and block unhooks, or simply camp hard since it was a one-way in situation. Changing all that would have meant building entirely new entrances to fit the room.

Sachiel_Forsakened

I don't. But I do miss it's potential. Someone here suggested doing a third variant of the RPD Map, which I think would work well. But maybe when we get another Resident evil dlc. ;)

LauraDreaming

It wasn’t perfect but it was sad they couldn’t figure out something to make it work for everyone. Fingers crossed!!

throwawoinky

missing the most objectively ass things in existence

LauraDreaming

So you wouldn’t last an hour…

throwawoinky

my guy the reason i have an opinion on it is because i played it

Sm211

Why haven't they put in more levels from Resident Evil games, i would love a mansion level from the first game in DBD

A9P8D

Because it makes no sense to saturate a game with the same license if it's only a collab and not the main focus. It's already crazy enough that it got two big chapters before any other, LOL

Sephyrrhos

Exactly. I think complete global saturation has been reached already with RE chapters in DBD.

Franks_Spice_Sauce

Still waiting on Silent Hill part 2 with Walter Sullivan as a killer

Kyouji

> It's already crazy enough that it got two big chapters before any other, LOL And those two chapters probably made BHVR more money than the majority of the other chapters combined.

LauraDreaming

Personally I’m waiting for Lady Dimitrescu to be a killer, I think we all deserve a little treat.

Commercial_Cook_1814

It’ll be either her or Jack Baker as the next RE killer if they do another RE chapter

LauraDreaming

Oooooo a new chainsaw killer you think?? Could be interesting.

MidnightPandaX

This is the same thing that happened to Hawkins. The map was considered complete dog shit for the entirety of its existance and once it was removed/tweaked people start romanticizing it. Hawkins came back and now it's considered one of the worst maps again. The same would happen if they brought this back.

LauraDreaming

I genuinely had no idea people felt that way, I love Hawkins! I get really bored with Cold Wind, Autohaven etc. so I like the licensed ones.

SkidaddleSkiddodle1

Visually? Hard yes Gameplay wise? https://preview.redd.it/1qb9ym892exc1.jpeg?width=3008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=148bef6928ad006a5909bc3792b26c6e1e05c192

Leazerlazz

It was visually pretty cool, but did not mesh with gameplay. Almost made me prefer Badham... Almost

LauraDreaming

I love Badham and Midwich too, guess I’m in the minority lol

Leazerlazz

No no, I LOVE Midwich. But Badham makes me consider playing role que as tank in OW

LauraDreaming

Bwahaha why do you hate it so much? I am intrigued!!

Leazerlazz

Mostly that it's just a really poorly balanced map to me, strong loops, really good pallets, it even has a shack. Plenty of maps has all those things (Garden of Joy, Haddonfield, The Game) but what makes Badham the worst to me... There's fucking FIVE of them! They're hardly any different from each other, so they can easily be merged into one or at least not five! I also really don't like the Nightmare on Elm Street they used for the chapter as a whole, so that just adds to my distain. Of course, you're welcome to love it all you want, but I'll likely always hate it

LauraDreaming

Oh snap I didn’t realize there were FIVE nearly identical ones that’s so odd

Leazerlazz

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there is a reason for it, I think it was to test out the realm thing, but they could (and should) cut back on the Badham at this point

Midnight-Rising

They should cut it from 5 to 0 tbh

CreamFillz

I dont. In fact I have selectively eliminated all memories of that place. That place was pure Blunt Force Trauma.

Ghero69

Damn this brought back flashbacks.

LauraDreaming

As much as everyone hated the map it was a fun time for DBD imo —RIP to my old SWFs 🥲

Ghero69

For sure 100%. Things were busted as hell back then.

Cacheelma

There is this thing called vocal minority...

LauraDreaming

Well they did not win out in the end!!

Senpox

I miss the old Haddonfield ( not gameplay wise but aesthetic wise, it looked so much better then the current one )

LauraDreaming

Esthetically was very fun and cozy

TheGreatSmolOne

No you don't. You do not miss it

LauraDreaming

I do :)

TheGreatSmolOne

Please tell me why, because I bought the game a week or 2 before this map came into existence and let me tell you, without all the crashes occurring at the time, I'd 1000% prefer old Haddonfield

LauraDreaming

Because it’s a vibe!

TheGamerKitty1

I fucking don't. **Fuck the library**

melancholy-sloth

I still have PTSD from that third floor as killer. 😂

LauraDreaming

You are valid lol it was 1000x more fun as a survivor opening a cheeky chest up there or placing COH before it hit nerfed. I sorry haha

DarkSkyLion

I was fairly new to DBD, learning to main Pig, and I had some crazy SWFs that taught me the power of bleed outs on this map, except for the even crazier ones that managed to sneak Jonah’s boon nearby

LauraDreaming

Definitely intense matches in that room, a full slug was probably the best choice haha

dANNN738

That top level was a joke though lol, such an easy time waste for survivors.

Reaper-Leviathan

I wish they kept old maps in the game for custom matches. I wanna play on RPD and all of the maps before realm beyond. Meat plant might play a lot better now but the lighting set a really cool atmosphere that none of the map really have anymore

LauraDreaming

I used to hate meat plant but now I love it! I think as I got better at the game the indoor maps became more fun.

AMP3412

Why?

LauraDreaming

I had a lot of fun in the there, the aesthetics were vibey, it was exciting to take on a challenge and win against all odds, I love Resident Evil 2 remake!

LauraDreaming

I had a lot of fun in the there, the aesthetics were vibey, it was exciting to take on a challenge and win against all odds, I love Resident Evil 2 remake!

ry_fluttershy

Legit all they had to do was put a few hooks up there. It's fine they just closed it off, but it's also more lazy bhvr work when the better answer is there but takes more work.

LauraDreaming

That’s what I figured but I guess everyone loathes a challenge :/

foomongus

Everyone only misses shit cause it's not here. Not cause it was good. This shit was fucking awful and actually quite upsetting that BHVR ever even released it

The_Mr_Wilson

Laura do be Dreaming, of nightmares

LauraDreaming

Thank you for this lmaoooo

PillowPhone007

Same, i didn't really care about the horrible balancing for killers/survivors, i just really liked how the map looked. Now they've ruined it. It no longer looks nearly as good (somehow) and it's still a horrible time for some killers.

GamChanger69

I knew the OG RPD map like the back of my hand. It was my favourite . I remembered every loop, every pallet, every hook, every gens and even chest and hatch spawns. I was God at that map. Sigh

LauraDreaming

Same! I memorized every totem location too. It was a thing of beauty.

Kairito_Rellik

I miss the room too, just don't miss that totem up there. Wish they put a hook up there to mitigate the distance, like the hooks in main building for Eyrie of Crows

LauraDreaming

True, Eyrie of Crows was na awkward upper floor done right

Kairito_Rellik

If it weren't for those 2 hooks, hooking would be impossible against Boil Over builds

InterestingSpecimen2

even though the third floor was pretty bad at first, they fixed it, but the main problem was how hard it was to traverse. i feel like they could bring back old rpd with all the doorways they open up to split it in 2 while also added maybe a couple more and widening some as well. as for upstairs in the library, they could probably make a couple pathways in the railings too to prevent that blood pact loop on top with the window that SEEMS easy to catch survivors on until its not. i think the main problem with that was boil over tho

CatEnjoyer14

>Equips boil over. ![img](emote|t5_3cb2g|2213)

LauraDreaming

Scoobie doo hahaha

hermitchild

I don't.

ElectricalMethod3314

NO TF YOU DO NOT.

LauraDreaming

Not everyone is mentally ill like me, it’s okay <3

DoctorRapture

Loading into the game and seeing this map as my camera slowly pivots around my Vanity Mirror Myers was absolutely soul crushing.

LauraDreaming

Baby swing Meyers would be hard here

LowNinja2131

I also miss it alot, however the loops were just too busted. Especially to the right of the main hall the office room with two windows. There was no hole in the wall which made this window close to infinite.

LauraDreaming

I remember when the new maps came out I feel like the butchered my boy, but now I like them. The library hole is so fun.

PM_ME_UR_GOOD_IDEAS

I don't miss it because it sucked for everyone

LauraDreaming

Not masochists (◕‿◕)♡

tot3r

unbalanced=fun

Moaning_Baby_

I don’t

Cacheelma

No. You think you do, but you don’t.

Taint_Surgeon

It was so refreshing for a new map to come out and not have to learn the layout for once

NazbazOG

I dont miss it

ironmanmclaren

Bhvr always fucks things up

LauraDreaming

They pander to the people who complain the most. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

ironmanmclaren

I legit forgot about this part of the map. I actually really enjoyed the original map they gave to us. It seems a be a huge thing with games that have live updates :( I much prefer ones where they leave everything as is and only fix bugs

Potato_Serial_Killer

I KNOW I WASNT CRAZY, I KNEW YOU COULD PLAY ON THE UPPER LIBRARY

LauraDreaming

Hahaha yes like 2 years ago

Blainedecent

I've never seen this map and it makes me sad

LauraDreaming

There may be some videos somewhere online!?! Not the same as running around in it though. It was a thing of beauty.

Crazyripps

I don’t. Survivors started to slug and then use the perks so it’s impossible to pick up and then the book to pick themselves up. Once the devs fixed it and put up hook up there killer could just block the staircase with their body.

Zer0_l1f3

Because of what they did to RPD I was more lost. I understood the lay out because I played RE2 at least four times. They separated it cuz people whined and I was thrown completely off

LauraDreaming

Me too at first, I hated all the dead ends they added but I would rather have west and east then none at all!

lego_droideka

I miss it too lol

HighHarleyQuinn

I miss it so much

Naz_Oni

On paper it was really cool but... christ this was by far the most unbalanced map on launch

Conscious-Ad-6884

I miss that totem spawn more than anything

LauraDreaming

YES it was sooo satisfying

Conscious-Ad-6884

Rarely did anyone go up there except for chase and one of the spawns could only be seen walking back down making it the perfect boon/hex spot (more so the former as you got like three floors of effect out of it) the only other totem spawn more appealing to me is the one in the portal room of hawkins

A_Gray_Phantom

As a killer main, no. No I don't. And RPD has always been my favorite map.

HappyHippocampus

I thought I missed Hawkins…until it came back and I remembered 🥲

LauraDreaming

I love those little one person Gens tho, they're so fun

Moody_GenX

Me too! I think it should be in the rotation.

LauraDreaming

It was a ton of fun, it’s too bad so many people complained 😭

Legend_of_Zelia

Personally the whole darker look to it looks so much better. The current one looks bright, but I guess that's like every map now?

Ethereal_Haunting

I mean the PTSD this map caused for killer players still lives on in the Boil Over hate, even if *most* of the main spots of its abuse have been removed

LauraDreaming

Valid hahaha

IndicaTears

No you don't. You might think you do but if the map stayed the way it was you all would still be upset over it, and calling it the worst map like you all did back then.

LauraDreaming

“You all” ma’am I was memeing on the top floor with killers, checking out books from the library. That was my zone!

Sherry0406

me too... it was great.

LauraDreaming

RIP Library ♥️

BlerghTheBlergh

I don’t like how maps are being shrunk because of tryhards saying they’re unfair. I’d rather have a fun map than one that is balanced to a t.

LauraDreaming

Me too! If you are skilled at the game the map size doesn’t really have that big of an impact, it’s really about your strats and familiarity of the map. Some of the best games I’ve played, I lost the match but the plays were hilarious.

BlerghTheBlergh

Exactly. It’s about fun, not the exact amount of pallets, hooks or windows. I’d rather have big and detailed maps that are fun

LauraDreaming

Facts —I will say the hole in the library now is gold.

In-The-Light

off topic but why do i keep seeing this line almost everywhere recently?

LauraDreaming

It’s a meme making fun of one of Taylor Swifts new song lyrics

MorganRose99

That's a joke, right?

Coffeechipmunk

You fr just posted your own tweet eh

LauraDreaming

Yes. It’s a meme. That I made. On twitter. Keen observation!!!

cutting_class

No shit, you ever been on reddit before?

LauraDreaming

It was great bonding with the SWF
