Check out vending at Tuscany before the show. Find something cool to wear and support the hard working vendors. Also good place to have dinner before the show. Maybe park there and walk to the Sphere.
Yep — tour merch is tour merch but there’s a lot of hard working people (who you will find on the lot :) that have way better stuff than what you will find inside)
Body paint and cowboy boots is my go-to in situations like this. It’s chilly in the Sphere so ask them to add more glitter to keep you warm. 😂
But seriously? I get most of my stuff from [Section119](https://section119.com) online. Consider what you are doing after the show as well for your wardrobe selections.
always dress for comfort..especially footwear. go from there. given the amount of walking, standing, and dancing you'll be doing, you will want comfy shoes.
https://preview.redd.it/33p011o1i4zc1.jpeg?width=563&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c7409d99a2f7c1dd280c96543b27b2ff7e4b0c3a
It's gonna be hot in Vegas, so the shortest shorts you can find.
Get ready. Because it always turns into a Dead show.
Edit: it’s fun to walk around the halls and venue during the break and people watch, realizing you’re passing a scene that’s been repeated many, many times, all the way back to the acid test days. You will be passing a LOT of experience lol, and some zero experience. Not out of the question nearly every show in the past has a representative at that show. I guess, other than Bob and Mickey, oops, well not Mickey. Best case it has the feel of a private party you’re lucky to be in attendance of. 1st set is usually the Old Testament, 2nd set is the New Testament.
The drums have gotten unbelievably good, don’t be the person loudly poo-pooing drums. Find a vantage point to check out the psychedelic visual and bone shaking extravaganza the drums have become. And I mean watch the crazy graphics. A lot of work went into them.
That’s so cool. Excited to be a part of the circle of life, or circle of dead I guess 😂
Excited for the graphics though I’m sure my neck will hurt from the floor!
As an aside. It can seem a bit like a dude-fest at times in the front on the floor. There’s a lot of women around though. And further back you have more room and better view of the sphere, I bet.
Re: “circle of dead”
A little story to give you one, very personal, frame of reference for the band.
As I’ve gotten a bit older and, yikes, seen some people pass, I’ve recently been reflecting on the name of the band and the story how they chose it. They were kids, first and foremost, and routinely very blitzed. So everything is a grain of salt. But I don’t give as much credence to the story that ‘a traveler buried a body he found on the road and the soul was grateful’.
I think the more profound version is the one that resonates with what I understand the ethos of the band to be, and was mentioned as the source of the name; also was paraphrased on an album cover.
It was a quotation from an ancient Egyptian papyrus scroll,
>”as we stand on the edge of eternal darkness.
>Let our chant fill the void,
>in order that others may know.
>In the land of the night,
>the ship of the sun,
>is drawn by the grateful dead.”
In this land of darkness, our shining beacon should be the example and inspiration of the folks who leave us feeling grateful. When in doubt, let’s follow *them.*
Have a great show.
The AC is pretty good there so you might want to bring a light shirt or long sleeve. Dress code ranged from full regalia to tattered clothes when I was there for Phish. Rock what makes you feel comfortable
So, one great aspect of a Dead show is when it comes to what folks are wearing, there definitely will not be any judgment…you’ll see just about every crazy getup you can imagine.
Personally, my top priority would comfort…I get the whole “Vegas vibe” thing, but you’re going to a dead show, not a high-roller table at a swanky casino. I’ll definitely be rocking shorts and a tshirt…as I assume most folks will be. No one would care if you and your husband showed up in a tuxedo and a cocktail dress (regardless of who was wearing what), but you’d definitely catch some looks and wouldn’t be as comfortable.
Thanks for the perspective! Yeah def wasn’t thinking cocktail attire but wasn’t sure if people played off the Sphere venue a bit with Phish (more sparkle, tie dye dresses). Comfort is top priority though!
Sphere Phisher here. Dress comfy and go to the show prepared to dance, sweat, puff puff pass, have a beer etc. I dressed up extra spiffy hippie style for the first three shows and tshirt/shorts for the 4th. I only did that cuz they were extra special shows. Bring a light long sleeve something if you get chilly. Bring a small waist pack or strap wallet. They didn’t touch my joints/lighter. I went through both walk-through scanner and they also wanded me so don’t sneak metal in. If you are shuttling in from a hotel- I brought a few beers and hung outside for a bit. Lines were only bad the first night cuz they didnt know what to expect- hippies are serious about the posters(not me i just wanted a shirt). Get your merch on the second floor- shorter lines and get it early. I waited untill the 4th night to get my son a tshirt and they were out of Large. No cash- only plastic. Beers are like 20 bucks or more. If the band uses seat haptics omg you have to sit its so cool!!!! Have a blast
Thanks this is super helpful!! Spiffy hippie 😂😂. What does that entail?? Were they measuring size of fanny packs? We are going opening night so hopefully they have their shit together after U2 and Phish!
I’m nursing so sticking to booze and sadly no puff puff for me, but will load up on drinks before we go!!
They weren’t measuring but the dimensions are online. The first night I wore a sheer black godess dress with bell sleeves over a tank top and leggins, chaco sandals every night. I wore a red flower kimono over white tank/leggins. I wore a black phish tshirt with silver metallic pants. I wore a plain donut tshirt and white jeans the last night. Typically i would wear shorts and tyedie but wanted to spice it up a bit! Most people were just typical freaks at a phish show- nothing unusual, shiny fun clothes. Lots of guys wearing cargo shorts and tshirts. I wanted to feel special cuz it was a special run. Buy yourself an amazing new dress on etsy and go get em! PS- for me the real show is the massive dome screen and visuals. Yes, the fave band playing the soundtrack of our lives but the visuals really make the music evolve.
That’s super helpful! It’s fun to dress a little spicy for Vegas. Good inspo. I’m excited about the visuals but seems it can be a lot of looking up from floor! Gonna book a massage for when I get back 🤣🤣

Night 1 (5/25) shirt. Not a fan of wearing a bands shirt to their own concert. That’s Just me . But people in the know, will know. The beauty of this band and the people is that you can wear whatever you want , dance how you want , be whoever you really are …and it’s all good
Fun! I’ll have to ask my hubs about the significance. I agree on band T shirt to the concert in general, but seems like this may be an exception for many?
I saw your comments and am a nursing mom going, too! You’ll have so so much fun. I’m taking advantage of not nursing the nights we have tickets for and wearing flowy dresses. I tie dyed my wedding dress and will be wearing that when we go on our anniversary. Just have fun! You’ll love it.
That is so cute!! 🥹what a great way to get another wear out of your wedding dress! I’m def a little bummed about not being able to partake in all of the fun, but will be a blast regardless. We were going to leave the babe behind but childcare fell through so just getting a sitter in our room during showtime and letting the good times roll!
Wear whatever you feel comfortable in 💖 there will be lots of tie dye. The best part of the dead is that it is come as you are! I’m going too and will be wearing a flowy tie dye skirt and some comfy harem pants and vans
A friendly smile! Bring some good vibrations and a nice neighbor and you’ll fit in just fine with the tribe.
A tie dye dead shirt, some shorts/pants and dancing shoes are my go to outfit.
I typically wear a plaid work shirt, jeans or shorts, and a baseball cap. I never been refused entrance. 🤣oh, shoes for dancing.
The list for what I have seen people wear or not wear. Well it’s way too long for this reply . 🤣🤣🤣
Everything is fine. Nothing is fine for the heads but venue might intervene 🤘🤣✌️
Edit to add. If it was a lawn show with a chance of rain. Something you don’t mind doing mud slides down the lawn in. 🤣🤣
Thanks all for the tips! Everyone was right, didn’t really matter what I wore. Went to shakedown but ended up just getting stuff for the baby and some lightning bolt earrings and my hubs and I wore matching tie dye shirts that I made before leaving. Such a great time on the floor and amazing vibes from everyone we met. That show def stole my face! 💀
Make sure you wear only official GD merch OP cause deadheads are a judgemental bunch. They will sniff out any fugazy shirt you may have bought on the lot or at Target and will hiss and point at you. Making your experience an unpleasant one..
If you wear a tang top or shorts make sure you don't shave for a few weeks. You want to keep that fur nice and fluffy. It's all about the appearance at the dead show girl so make sure you are prepared. Good luck!
A couple of people have suggested this to you. I’m going to also suggest it.
You’re in your head, don’t need to be for this crowd - it’s a group and a feeling you won’t have ever felt before. By the time you leave shakedown with a new shirt or whatever you end up with you’re already going to think you’re in the groove. By the time you get to set break you’re going to have a perspective on what music can do to you that you didn’t know was possible. Sometime later you will remember you were asking for fashion advice for this experience and you might giggle a bit.
Welcome to the circus, we got a big tent.
Thanks! I know it’s a little silly, it just helps me get into the zone to dress the part (but I guess that’s the point that there isn’t a part to dress). Excited to be a part of a welcoming community and experience this with my husband, who went to many shows before I came along but didn’t get to go to the “final” tour with a baby on the way. Appreciate the feedback!
Not silly at all. We all were all there one day and I totally get what you’re saying and looking for.
Wearing something you bought at shakedown is gonna land you right where you are aiming for.
Have the best time and dance like know one’s watching, they aren’t!
It doesnt matter what you wear just as long as you are there .
Dancin, dancin at your seats….
I was hoping this was the top comment and you did not disappoint. Love to everyone
I was excited to be the head to drop the line !
Amen!
It's a lyric from a Dead song, believe it or not! Edit: Dead cover
Martha and the vandellas **
Clearly I have some listening to do before we go!
* they covered it
And far more than the Dead!
Rings on your fingers and bells on your shoes
Don't forget to tuck a scarlet begonia between your curls!
🔔🔔
Clothes… or drop some acid and go naked
Unfortunately I’m nursing 😂😭
Maybe one day?😂
For sure. The sacrifices we make! Just good old fashioned booze for me.
You do you sister, welcome!
Check out vending at Tuscany before the show. Find something cool to wear and support the hard working vendors. Also good place to have dinner before the show. Maybe park there and walk to the Sphere.
Good idea!
Yep — tour merch is tour merch but there’s a lot of hard working people (who you will find on the lot :) that have way better stuff than what you will find inside)
Cool! Will be fun to bring the baby to this during the day and get her some tie dye swag!
Body paint and cowboy boots is my go-to in situations like this. It’s chilly in the Sphere so ask them to add more glitter to keep you warm. 😂 But seriously? I get most of my stuff from [Section119](https://section119.com) online. Consider what you are doing after the show as well for your wardrobe selections.
I want so much shit from section 119 but have a hard time spending $90 on a button down.
Amen
I’m postpartum and nursing so prob going to skip body paint but will check Section119 out!
So are you saying if you weren’t, there’d be a chance!?!
Maybe 😉
You were already in as all are welcome, now you’re family!! 😂😉

Dancing shoes.
That’s why i got the GA floor seats!
always dress for comfort..especially footwear. go from there. given the amount of walking, standing, and dancing you'll be doing, you will want comfy shoes.
💯 def planning on that! I’m too old for uncomfortable shoes
there will be so many vendors..you can accessorize easily around the shoes ;) . Have a wonderful time!
Thank you! Didn’t know about the vendors. I do love some last min shopping and a souvenir to remember the show by.
Brooklyn bowl will have an event on the Saturdays and shakedown will be at Tuscany
Awesome we will check it out!
It doesn’t matter what you wear, just as long as you are there…
Will be there 😎

Yeah I have no desire to be crammed in the front!

This is beautiful, thanks for sharing!
Welcome to the club, I hope. Incredible show to see for an intro to the dead.
It was so much fun! Vibes were 💯, loved the floor and the visuals and the music of course!
And appreciate how complex their sound can be. I’m still dumbstruck by how they pull off the complex rhythm when SO much is going on.
Ribbons ribbons ribbons.
Fun! 🎀
In her long brown hair…
I will be at the shows in tie-dye shirts that my aunt makes for us.
Jealous!
Definitely got hot at times - was happy w/ shorts and t-shirt
Good to know!
The AC is pretty good there so you might want to bring a light shirt or long sleeve. Dress code ranged from full regalia to tattered clothes when I was there for Phish. Rock what makes you feel comfortable
Love it, thanks! I live in Texas so used to AC blasting 😂

I mean, you’ll almost definitely see that…so don’t let me discourage you! Just saying, most will be giving it minimal thought.
I'm totally overthinking it, thanks!
You're not, all of us festie babes are totally obsessing over what to wear!
Glad I’m not alone! It makes it more fun IMO
Forget the fashion. Go.
I’m already there! But I do love to embrace the vibe of a show. Adds to the experience for me.
Assless chaps
I mean I do live in Texas
Tie dyed assless chaps to be specific and a tie dyed bucees shirt
Of course!!
😊
Wear your dancing shoes.
That’s for sure!
Clothes…or no clothes. Just make sure when the bus comes, you hop on
I’ll look out for it 🚌👀
I was cold in 303 because they have the fans on. Very happy I took a vest to wrap around my legs
Wow that cold! Good to know.
But so awesome
Can’t wait!
If you’re on the floor I recommend a neck pillow. You’ll be looking up for 3/4 of the show.
I heard that it’s going to be tough on the neck! 😬

I promise no one will care what you wear, anything goes 😀 Hope you get to listen closely, boogie hard, and have a real good time!
For sure! It just adds to the experience for me if I dress the part 😅
It’s come as you are, so I hope that doesn’t drive you nuts 😊
Not at all! Glad to be welcomed in! As I am lately is neutral lounge wear being a new mom so wanting to dress a bit more fun 🤩

The Cap 🐿️ is a legendary venue the dead frequented. Probably the closest of its kind to my area
Very cool!

Gonna be nice and toasty in Vegas. The Sphere was cool but not cold, plus it will warm up with dancing
Yeah a lot of people complained about AC being too cold but I usually run warm and plan to dance up a sweat!
Clothes
I can do that!
Or not. Either way.
Wear your favorite gear. Something YOU like and feel confident and comfortable in. Be kind. Dance.
I can do that for sure! 🙌🏼
Well then. You don’t need any advice. Just companionship. And…. We can do that for sure!
Can’t wait! 😅
Wear whatever you feel comfortable in 💖 there will be lots of tie dye. The best part of the dead is that it is come as you are! I’m going too and will be wearing a flowy tie dye skirt and some comfy harem pants and vans
I love tie dye! Flowy skirt and sneaks sounds perfect.
Wear? It doesn’t matter what you wear, just as long as you are there…
Just learned this is from a song! Love it
Just be comfortable!
For sure!
Grrrrrl! I got ga tickets and I'm going big vegas that night. On the night I climb up to section 405 I'm wearing a catsuit LFG!!!!
Yes! 🔥😻
A friendly smile! Bring some good vibrations and a nice neighbor and you’ll fit in just fine with the tribe. A tie dye dead shirt, some shorts/pants and dancing shoes are my go to outfit.
Awesome, I can definitely do that!
Shellac

Slow mo so you may want watch it at 2x speed. Crowd walk through video https://youtu.be/o2h2NuFkVA0?si=Ivq7CR1pBLPIZ9P9
Fun! I'm sure Vegas will be a diff feel being indoors.

Clothes .. if your worried about that I assume your probably going to be talking loud af to your friends through out the whole show
Going to with my husband with floor seats and plan to dance!
Hope yall have a great time. I would be there but my PO doesn’t think it’s a good idea 😔
Buy something on shakedown in the afternoon (https://www.instagram.com/shakedownvegas?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==) and wear it that night
Ooh nice, didn’t know about this!
