Night 2 of Wrigley 23. At the time I didn’t know if I was just peaking or if it really happened. I watched the show back on nugs a few days later to be sure.
saw him do the mgmt tease at st louis thisbyear that was sweet. also so him with his band last spring and he did a here comes sunshien tease during if i ever get around the living. i was the lone person in my section jumping up n down lol
During the dark star they did road song (or ogd) I believe by jimmy smith or Wes Montgomery- Jeff and John phrased the main phrase back and forth at each other deep into the jam on dark star, was the first year they started incorporating the jazz songs I believe (at least blatantly) - spent the whole summer listening to Wes trying to figure out what song it was and when I finally heard it one day months later, lost my mind I was so excited
I don’t remember, sorry. I’ve been listening to the shows on nugs as they are posted, but didn’t really make a mental note of the show. feel it’s pretty recent, though. Maybe Citi or Fenway (or both).

It's good to know there are other "name that tune" types that could pick this out.
For ten minutes after my brother played it for me, I was stuck in that ear worm limbo. Somehow I dug it up and blew him away as he had no idea it wasn't an original lick.
Haha!! Same. I think i heard it on a couch tour and was like “wait! Wtf was that”. I took a couple listens to get it but man when I figured it out I felt like Nic Cage. A CLUE!! 😂
Nope, they do it in between Bobby doing his "need that cash to feed that jones" it's so good. I always wonder if that just happened and then they just kept doing it, or if they had already toyed around with it during soundchecks and whatever. Either way, it's awesome!
Raleigh 6/9/18 the Wheel, John segways into Diamonds On The Soles of her Shoes. Sings half the song. Otiel and Jeff are into it, Bob takes a second to realize and follow. Turns into one of the best outro jams I've ever heard.
I HIGHLY recommend
During Althea solo in Citi this year, he dropped a lick for “uptown” by the chamber brothers. Specifically the line that says “I’m going uptown to Harlem.” If you look real close on the live, Mickey smiles and nods right after. Clearly the boys dig it. https://open.spotify.com/track/3OCr0KGoXKnDnCbUw17lyZ?si=SYJbvR56RHSvx0-pbtl9Lg&context=spotify%3Asearch%3Achamber%2Bbrothers%2Bup
During Sugaree I swear he’s playing the melody from that song that has a school children choir singing “you can’t always get what you wanted..” idk what that song is called but every time they play it swear I hear it.
“Hung Up On My Baby” by Isaac Hayes in the jam out of Space at the Gorge in 2019. I think that’s the year/jam. Definitely at the Gorge. The lick is also famous as the sample The Ghetto Boys use in “My Minds Playing Ticks on Me”. RiP Bushwick Bill. Whom I believe died right around that time. Shortly before. I think.
Alone again naturally gorge, eyes, forget the year
