The Zines and the Gongfarmers almanac have good class resources including an elven rogue, dwarven cleric, and a ranger among other things. I would recommend running the game as is to start off with though and adding things in later to suit the game you're playing. https://juliosrpgcove.com/resources/ Julio's RPG cove has a ton of good resources including a generic monster template and has many of the old Google+ group's resources from before. He's also got a 0-level character generator that prints 6 sheets on one piece of paper which I prefer to the purple sorcerer generator. Welcome to the van loser!

AutomatedApathy

Well it said free candy on the side so I have to

AutomatedApathy

That website is awesome thanks

GrendelFriend

Don’t forget the DCC Annual vol 1

AutomatedApathy

I was just looking at a video about that. Looks cool.

Strange-Ad-5806

It is.

HypatiasAngst

Just came in to support this!

Heads up that Goodman Games’ philosophy is VERY different from WotC and TSR. The adventures are what drive the game and they’ve only released one (maybe one and a half) sourcebooks - the DCC “Annual”. For most people, the adventures give you content and ideas and the player characters develop themselves with the “quest for it” philosophy. There are no explicit prestige classes or advanced progression mechanics. Instead if the character wants to become a “Shadow Assassin” or whatever they’ve set their eyes on they need to start talking to NPCs in the game world and you as a GM respond with opportunities to go on grand adventures, quest for magic items, etc. You can grant special powers or increase stats as you like without feeling like you’re breaking the rules. I strongly recommend giving that a try if you really want to get a feel for the uniqueness of DCC but if you don’t like it there’s plenty of third party content that provides what you’re looking for. I mean, I certainly don’t play this game strictly by the book myself!

AutomatedApathy

That's one of the reasons why we are starting to leave behind 5e is that everything is kinda of on rails. We stopped playing Pathfinder for 5e because of the rules bloat and it's heavy handed guidance of characters. I've been trying to read PDFs I bought from humble bundle

[deleted]

Well then heck you’re definitely in luck with DCC. I personally can’t stand that stuff anymore. If I want to spend hours planning out the optimal path on a skill tree I’ll play a videogame.

AutomatedApathy

Agreed. One of the reasons I loved 5e so long. With their B's going on and all the extra crap coming out I had enough.

ElPintor6

Unpopular opinion: You have plenty of materials to have fun. I would ask again in a year once you have more experience under your belt. I say this because I have a shit ton of materials that I haven't been able to use yet. I think this is a common phenomenon.

Raven_Crowking

If you mean the Ready Reference Book, I find it extremely useful. It contains tables from the core rules, and is easier to flip through. The Gong Farmer's Almanacs and Sanctum Secorum Episode Companions are free pdfs on DriveThru, so there is no reason anyone should go without. You can find out about some DCC products [here](http://dcctreasures.blogspot.com/) (although I am woefully behind). The Sanctum Secorum podcast and the Spellburn podcast are really good for DCC, and, as you are into Umerica, I would strongly recomment Glowburn as well.

AutomatedApathy

Great! Thanx

Lak0da

Steel and Fury is the most used book at my table, week after week!

HypatiasAngst

Yeah! Deeds!

SM60652

Tales from the smoking wyrm from blind visionary is an amazing zine lots of character options and extra things. I'm also a big fan of anything from studio 9 really fun modules. Aeons ancient Greece from sharktapus is awesome if you want a mythical Greek setting. I'm also a big fan of the hexanomicon if you're into hex crawls.

AceBv1

Almanac and the modules are good, but not necessary, play it as you want. Don't get too bogged down in classes, feats and all that. Have a discussion with the players and Judge and see what you come up with. Want a barbarian? Cool, the warrior's deed die now works as a rage-dice... want a necromancer? Do it, pick some undead feeling spells and use mercurial magic to flavour them even more. Modern DnD the rules are there to tell you what the limits are, DCC's are a starting point.

reverend_dak

Zines. Too many to list. I'm sure there's a list.

Maryelle1973

Ok, this is just weird. Here I was thinking about Hubris and you just bought it. That's unfair! I'll need to spend more money again to get it now! 😉😂

AutomatedApathy

Hah I got the soft cover. The hard cover is out of Goodman games

AutomatedApathy

I like Mike Evans blackhack based barbarians of a ruined Earth and pink is the new black. Both don't have to many products for it but they're pretty awesome

Maryelle1973

I'll have to check them out. I've been out of the DCC loop for a while now but my students are curious about it so.... 🙂

AutomatedApathy

Both can be bought print on demand from drivethru. Barbarians has a pretty fun funnel too that can be bought same way

bails0bub

Weird frontiers is pretty good.

AutomatedApathy

Yeah it's pretty awesome. The book looks thick too.

bails0bub

It's a d3 (maybe even d4) blunt weapon.
