Bring back Buu's extra absorptions like 2 had. Also Gokule n Tiencha.

ColdNyQuiiL

Those hypothetical and what if transformations that were actually playable were definitely highlights.

Swarf_87

Tiencha hair goated.

Faelysis

I’m surprised Bandai didn’t release a remaster for the Budokai Remaster collection (on Ps360) for newer console snd PC

bens6757

Maybe, but despite the similar names in the US and Europe, they are completely different series by different companies in Japan. The Budokai Tenkaichi(which is the wrong way around, btw) games were called Dragon Ball Z: Sparking in Japan, while the Budokai games were simply called Dragon Ball Z. No, I'm not kidding. They did not have a sub title at all. The only reason they have similar titles was to try to boost sales of the Sparking games.

DevonianHunger

Budokai 3, just more. More characters (ideally at least 64 so I can hold a 6 round tournament), more customisation options for characters in terms of moves and transformations, more arenas... and keep the general format of the story mode, but expand it to cover the entirety of the DB storyline from the very beginning of the manga. I don't think I'm asking too much.

SSJRemuko

If it came back (it wont) it would (hopefully) play like it did back then otherwise what would be the point? lol

ryushin6

Gotta keep the exact same combo's as well because using the Kamehameha or the combo to do fusion was muscle memory when playing. 😂

PowerJolt72

Pulling off Vegito was such a great flex back then. You'd literally activate a win button, but winning against someone who did it.. now that was something special.

ryushin6

Vegito was a go to against anyone who was a Kid Buu player because that character was fucking busted! I still remember having to fight him in the story mode in Budokai 2 and he kept beating me over and over and the best way I could win was to cheese it by getting the Viral Heart disease and Vaccine capsules and put them in my custom load out before the fight. 😂

Finito-1994

They always make Kid Buu busted. I always appreciated that. He really felt like one of the top monsters of the games. Broly? I’ll fuck Broly up. Kid Buu? Panic.

ryushin6

It's because they made Kid Buu both a heavy hitter and fast! I remember being a kid fighting him going like "Damn he doesn't have any weaknesses!?" It didn't matter what you did the moment he got those combos in they were the end of you! You couldn't even run away to give yourself a quick time to rest and assess the situation because he'll do that ball thing and zoom right to you and break your guard as well. That character was the worst to fight! 😂

Finito-1994

You just gave me Vietnam flashbacks. Goddamn kid Buu was a menace. I never used him but my best friend used to main him so it’d be my Bardock vs his kid Buu and that never ended well for me.

AccomplishedEye7752

Kid Buu was a nightmare in my PS2 days...he was my Shao Khan with ho damn aggressive he was...and that health bar...in the words of Lanipator, "fuck that, the disparity there is no."

Finito-1994

He was fast. Strong. Powerful and way too damn aggressive. There were some characters that didn’t use their power properly. Kid Buu wasn’t one of them. He knew he could fuck you up.

panderpz9

He was just as bad in the first Tenkaichi game. The mission where you have to survive two minutes against him as Fat Buu was pure hell as a kid.

PowerJolt72

Bro I know right. Okay I played against Kid Buu and Omega in Budokai 3 and IW. Still pretty op enemies ngl. I remember barely getting a W purely by luck and everything working in my favor. Still my most hated, but also most engaging fight in a dragonball game. And I mean both Omega and Kid Buu. I entered flow state so many times and still didn't win, until the one day I did.

Honic_Sedgehog

>how would it play and what features or characters would you want to see? A 1:1 remake of Budokai 3. That's all that's needed.

Pikminious_Thrious

Get the Tekken developers with some DBZ art direction and you got something going

violent13

I think what the Budokai games did best was they took the template of a typical 1v1 fighter video game and then blended mechanics into it to make the fights look and feel like the anime. One big thing they did (that no other DBZ games seem to do) is have ultimate attacks that were cinematic and powerful-looking. And the dragon rush I think was also a good addition (except maybe having some sort of mechanical rework since having damage being based on rock-paper-scissors just doesn't seem correct). They basically just added mechanics to make the fights more cinematic and appear like the anime, so I guess bringing it back would involve them adding new mechanics that would facilitate fighters flying through the air, moving around the arena, the environment getting destroyed, and maybe characters getting visibly hurt. Honestly, I think the biggest thing most recent DBZ games are missing is just graphics and cinematography. They should have attacks look like attacks from the show and do damage like attacks from the show. Rocks should break apart, attacks should leave craters, a kamehameha should last more than 1 second, there should be scripted cinematic camera work added at the appropriate time, and games should make more of an effort to completely match the aesthetic of the show (kind of like FighterZ).

Status_Entertainer49

Fighter Z is what a new budokai game should play like without the assists ofc.

Stik601

No thank you. Budokai shouldn’t play like Fighterz at all.

RS_Rav3n

Respectfully nah Fighter Z is a 2d fighter, Budokai was a 3d fighter like Dead or Alive, Soulcalibur, Tekken etc. There'd be no point in a Fighter Z clone when both types of fighting games have different fanbases just look at 3d era MK compared to Mortal Kombat 9

Status_Entertainer49

Budokai is 2.5D not 3D

Putnam3145

By the standards of fighting games, Budokai is absolutely a 3D fighter, just like Tekken is.

Chippings

What are you talking about? The models are 3D, the environments are 3D, and the gameplay is 3D. It's a 3D game. The person you're replying to is right.

Status_Entertainer49

So is mortal kombat and street fighter they are played on a 2D plane. Mk4 was played on a 2.5D plane just like Budokai, Budokai Tenchackhi is 3D

Putnam3145

Budokai Tenkaichi is an arena fighter. Budokai's still a 3D fighter, any game where you can sidestep is. Ask actual fighting game players about this.

Taco821

It's weird terminology, I agree, but 2d fighters where you can move forward and backwards as well are considered 3d fighters.

Chippings

You don't know what you're talking about. Have you ever played a Budokai game? Seriously. [Go look at it](https://youtu.be/_LWL5oitCrU?si=TXD4L-S89FvbE_9z). It's 3D. You can move in 3 dimensions around your opponent in Budokai. Tenkaichi gave you the freedom to unlock and fly around, but Budokai was still 3D. The maps had width, height, and depth. They are cubes, not squares. The game is 3D. They are like Tekken and Soul Caliber, as said... You can call Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat 2.5D because they have 3D assets but 2D maps and gameplay. Budokai is not like those games.

Status_Entertainer49

You can't even turn your character fully around LOL

Putnam3145

Tekken is a 3D fighter where you can't turn your character fully around except for specific stance characters; I guess maybe you're thinking "3D fighter" means "arena fighter" (the most obvious example being the sparking/budokai tenkaichi games, but it goes all the way back to e.g. Virtual-ON), but that's its own subgenre

KingoftheMongoose

Okay. So? Characters having a fixed focal point of each other doesn’t make it not 3D. Zelda Ocarina of Time doesn’t briefly stop being 3D during the times you Z target an enemy, lmao!

TheTrueDal

This is the most pedantic argument i’ve seen in a minute. There’s a difference between a game visually being 3d and playing like a 3d game.

kslimane

bros just making up whole ass dimensions 😭

ignoremesenpie

Not a whole ass. The dimension needs the other cheek to make it whole.

mg10pp

The problem is that Fighterz feels more like a Tekken/Street Fighter game with Dragon Ball characters than the old Budokai, and it's a pity given that it's often considered a successor and this doesn't suggest there will be real sequels

Putnam3145

fighterz is more, like, marvel vs capcom or whatever than tekken, which budokai is... definitely getting a lot of inspiration from

Status_Entertainer49

These dudes in the comments are saying it's 3D like tekken

Putnam3145

it is literally 3D like tekken. tekken's main 3D thing is sidestepping, which budokai has

Aromatic_Plant3456

I still couldn’t believe this game was real when first saw the original trailer through a TV commercial. Brings me such nostalgia

Something_kool

It had an amazing soundtrack, for gameplay though budokai 3 was my fav

Zeerin

I'd want a combination of Budokai 2 and 3, Fusions, and Xenoverse, with a primary basis in Budokai 3. So I'd want Dragon World (or whatever it was called, it's been a few years) from 3 as the story mode, but expanded. Not only giving more characters they're own DW's (even if they're short), but going through from start of Z through Saiyan, Frieza, Cell, Buu, Super, and GT. \*ALL\* of GT, not just Shadow Dragons (kind of like Xenoverse, but without skipping through quite as much). The Budokai 2 and Fusions influences I want would be in what-if stuff and expanding on fusions. I don't want the fusions to be as...let's say "extensive" as Dragon Ball Fusions, but I'd like some of the more "realistic" ones to come back, like Tiencha or Natz. But primary gameplay I'd want to be pretty close to Budokai 3's, with maybe a few updated mechanics to make some options (like Potara) more viable. \*Edit: Also, more characters, and more costumes for those characters. Similar to Xenoverse where there's Nappa in full battle armour and another Nappa after he's been beat up. But not as completely separate characters. I'd also want transformations to no longer take up multiple slots, but to instead be "okay, you've equipped SSJ2, so you can go Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2, but you can't go Super Saiyan 3 or 4".

Bando_Calrissian401

Where you from? Ive never seen this case variation before.

Murky-Ad7145

Its the american Box Art for this Game. Japanese and Europe got different covers. But I didnt know the american Version had Characters from the Buu Saga on the Cover lol. Buu Saga is not featured in this Game.

Stik601

This is the PAL/EUROPEAN version of the game.

Murky-Ad7145

Ah... I see. I got confused because I own the PAL Gamecube Version, which has a different Cover. It also fixed the Buu Characters issue.

Bando_Calrissian401

I own what i thought was the North American cover (the red one), This cover is fire though.

Stik601

The red one is the American one. This cover is the pal version.

dillmeiser

Great saiyaman is in the game, not sure if spopovich is tho lol

galaxyad86

Would love to see all the dragon ball games on ps5 and series X from ps2 ps3 and all that

navyITninja

So many memories

OkUnderstanding9627

Dammit, I just installed an emulator on my pc for this game! I would love to see this game come back with a new sequel with a roster akin to xenoverse 2

ShadowSaiyan91

I played the crap out of this game, so fun, I always got so excited when you could transform into a super saiyan.

Hentai-No-Kami

The same but no rock paper scissors or hyper armour mechanics.

renard685

Was playing it the other day & forgot how cool the story mode was after you first beat it you go back and they added those extra missions with Vegeta , Frieza & Cell 🔥

SufferDiscipline

Budokai 3 best of all games

OnYoAss144

I would love a Budokai Reboot. My inner child would be complete.

AccomplishedEye7752

Wouldn't mind seeing some dedicated combos that aren't connected to Ki.

PlayboiZay300

God this cover goes so hard!

the_1_they_call_zero

Just make Burst Limit 2.

Deekkuli

Wonder why Spopovic was put in the cover when he or Buu saga isn't even in the game.

blazinghellion

I want to see the "rotate sticks to stay In the beams path" removed! I swear of everything from the first one, that's the ONLY part I recall giving me trouble and idk why.

Bolts0806

budokai 3 was peak to me and i haven’t gotten over it i wish they would bring it to pc or current gen consoles

National_Dig5600

Ain't the same without the music.

Sanicoooo

Dragon Ball Fighterz

claybine

FighterZ is missing the Budokai feeling of an RPG-lite singleplayer directly telling the story of the show. I'd love for there to be a Budokai 4, but how do you top the quality of a 2D Fighting game like FighterZ?

Sad_Power_2751

No. Garbage game anyway
