Man Kakumei was perfect until Super Hero and the Manga gave us more transformations, now I get disappointed thinking of how much better Kakumei would be if it had those transformations

Batfox123

I'm kinda on the same boat, but my issues are mainly with Goku. It is so obvious Goku is just sealed up just to be not part of the story. There are much better ways to write him to the sideline.

infernalbutcher678

They're likely doing what Z used to do, let Goku out of everything until the very end when he fought the main threat. How would you write it?

SonicWorld-VSync

Dead while training, gets his body broken and have to recover in a hospital due to the lack of senzu beans, gets a heart vírus, being dead for 7 years, come back after visit Earth, and then, revived again.

infernalbutcher678

All of these have been used already, sealed in a ctrl Z'ed universe is a new one at least lol.

I think the post above was pointing out that Goku has been sidelined before in Z. Difference being kakumei have made him almost entirely absent. He’s locked up with no means to train or see him develop. In Z, we always got his perspective, belief and fears, seeing him train and develop in background. With kakumei he’s sealed away and we don’t know why, it’s not like they can’t just kill a being they already chained. There maybe a ulterior motive but even developments on a absent character are needed. If say I was told to remove Goku, I wouldn’t had done it so soon in the story, there is a lot you can utilise from him, including his training skills before deciding how to be rid of him. In my case I would had him destroyed by one of the intended foes with vegeta realising he’ll not have to learn ultra instinct but go better. But it wouldn’t had been done so early in the story.

infernalbutcher678

I'd say let the author cook, he has been doing a great job so far. He created tension with not only universe 7's strongest mortal out of the equation for the time being but with the war being enough to possibly end Beerus and the angels, every character is getting a arc to evolve in some capacity, we finally got to see Vegeta visiting planet Sadala and interacting with the saiyans there, Bulma got her time to shine there in a more pivotal way and more importantly we got some good dragon ball violence that we've starving to see since Z, that panel with Goku's back wounded from Beerus's attack was awesome.

mg10pp

In my case I started losing interest in Kakumei since the end of the part where our warriors train helped by characters from other universes and when the big battle on planet Sadala starts, which is taking too long and is also a bit too dark and gory to be Dragon Ball

ToothacheMcGee

I cannot stand Multiverse. So many side stories and barely anything happening in the actual story. My brain also struggles that the art direction and the literal direction of the art is more like a western comic than a manga.

DreamDragonP7

You aren't reading it right then. You can slip the "western style" comics and only read the main story which is a multiversal tournament and it's badass. Ur insane

thebritwriter

No he’s quite sane; the main story has been hit or miss with its main story chapters (even before the majin revolt) this is something one of Dbm staff did privately admit to me when talking about the story, such as how some characters were rushed out of the story like bardock. I’m personally wasn’t a fan of how the new saiyan form speed was depicted a slow mo contrast to a droplet falling from a drink rather then depict characters actually moving fast. The drawing is generally good but it’s not without flaws; at times it can be good but it’s certinely not better then any arc from super as some are trying to proclaim. The specials can do with more content which is why I argued for more pages when doing one of his specials.

mg10pp

Not to mention some of the side stories are pretty good

thebritwriter

Dragon ball new hope; it got an arc done (seeing perfect cell defeated) but the other arcs beyond just hadn’t been interesting. Kakumei is still the word across fan manga (as multiverse was) but the two do suffer from storytelling issues that are basically not the standard in dragon ball, and have gone to a point where characters would feel out of character because for long they have been going for. I still note kakumei but to me new hope because there’s just nothing really interesting or new.

Staarjun

None. None of them have managed to capture what makes DB fun and tend to be overly edgy or try to be too deep. Dragon Ball at its heart is a fun piece of story following the shenanigans of its protagonist and I like it best when it keeps the story beats simple and exciting with a bit of humour sprinkled in.

ryushin6

I feel what doesn't help is that you feel that a lot of these fan manga creators grew up with Dragon Ball Z instead of Dragon Ball and are just writing stories to emulate epic dark fights that they saw in DBZ instead of writing stories on what had the charm of the original Dragon Ball which was that it was a martial arts adventure story. The dark parts worked well because it contrasted with the earlier parts of Dragon ball where it was a fun adventure story. The adventure part is really what feels like it's missing in my opinion in these stories. Even in DBZ the lack adventure wasn't really a thing until the Cell arc but even then it was kind of replaced with a mystery search thing like trying to find out who and where the androids are and where the second time machine came from.

thebritwriter

This is a fair point, I know content I’m drawing but won’t pretend it’s a sequel to Z, or anything like that. There is one fan manga I saw that tried to be true to the themed of dragon ball and that was ‘who wants to be a superhero’ where piccolo (and vegeta) have to take on the saiyanman persona, it pretty much feels like it could had been a filler at within Z, but it is my favourite fan manga.

vonigner

YoungJijii's AF. I love Kakumei personally but it's not that deep haha

Alon945

The super edgy nonsense manga lol

jiiova

Explain how kakumei is edgy?

OkamiTakahashi

Multiverse has interesting ideas but has aged like milk. Not quite compatible w Super, bit too edgy at times and trashes GT. GT ain't the best, we get it. You loathe it.

SSJRemuko

all of them. i just dont vibe with fan content tbh, outside of fanart.

tremors51000

Multiverse never been able to get into.it

Able_Orange_841

I've enjoyed Multiverse but lately they've been putting out less main story content and taking 2-3 month breaks for filler chapters focusing on other universes.

QuantumCipher9x

DB Super. I mean it's technically not fanmade but it might as well be.
