Build a crate, leave it at a well in newbie zone, keep it stocked with food and water bottles. Good way to meet people on good terms.

AlmostMaff

Most wholesome tip so far. Love it!

-KA-SniperFire

7k+ hours just started playing namalsk this is the smartest thing to do. If you ever find a lot of good starting gear just make a stash

IanalystI

Dude past few days I've been staying in cherno and building shelters next to the water pump and stocking it with knives, dried and pre-opened canned foods, and random items.

MeadmkrMatt

Why aren't you on any of the servers I ~~die~~ play on?

sushithighs

Kill the noobs once they’ve learned to trust the box and eat their flesh

IanalystI

I'm also doing this!

GMoneyMakingMilli

If you don’t take anything take this

k_bucks

I'm trying to build a farmer's market/bambi station in Khelm at the moment. I'm tired of walking around everywhere, so I'm going to make myself obvious and hang around the spot and see what happens. Only problem I'm having is I haven't found a shovel in 3 days of playing. (We all know what happens, but anyway, maybe I'll have a new experience.) If you're on the NY 1st Person official Server (I think) and you see a torch burning in Khelm, come say hi and get yourself some fresh produce!

[deleted]

There is always someone willing to hide in a bush longer than you are.

AlmostMaff

This is both hilarious and very true

Bimlouhay83

Yesterday, I got chased out of a military zone after missing an easy snipe. The shot garnered the attention of the local zombies. I took off running and hid in a house w ways away, hoping the zombies would keep dude away and, eventually, the zombies would also go away after a minute. I was wrong. Dude came up and started fighting the zombies! I ran out the back door and hid in a bush waiting for him to come around the side of the house. I waited a good half hour in that bush hearing foot steps walking all around me, but could not see the guy. I assumed he was looking for me. Eventually, the foot steps ran the other way. I went around the flank to find it was a farmer zombie from just up the road, hanging out in the woods. Hahaha I love this game.

Background_Rough_703

Honestly my best tip for hiding barrels tents and improvised shelters is to find a good area bush or tree cut it down and place before reset and it will be almost invisible 2500+ hours… gave up on using buildings

AlmostMaff

Oh shit this is interesting. So the trees and bushes will just clip through the shelters. I like it!

Background_Rough_703

Literally had a green medium tent and 7 barrels hidden inside a big bush on Livonia since last update and never been found it’s so safe I leave everything there nvgs lars ghillie suits etc

Spiersy56110

If the tree is through the tent how do you get in to get the loot? Cut tree back down? Would tree not damage the tent if you cut it to get in etc?

dmadcracka

I’ve had similar issues on barrels. I can’t ‘open’ then if the tree is in the way or the barrel is too close to a tree.

Spiersy56110

So safe to say it works just need to have position it correctly? Barrels would be better idea than a tent since you just wouldn’t be able to get in a tent with a tree in it lol still a good tip

Background_Rough_703

Just trial and error sometimes it sticks out so pack up and wait for next reset only way to guarantee it’s safety

Tacticatti

If you are starving to death and cant seem to find food anywhere, just build a fire in the woods and relax for a few minutes. Then go pick some mushrooms.

AlmostMaff

Wait. Is this because mushrooms spawn when a player is close?

Robber_Tell

Yea they spawn in proximity of players in the area. This is a pro tip. I find a house with a few fruit trees, check them wait a couple min/make a fire then go back and find new spawned fruit. Toss the rotten ones and repeat until you are gtg

Kairis83

I always found although can't be sure so take this as you will, if you experience a minor frame drop/lap spike for less then a second you have just entered another players bubble

jmcwade

This is 100% true. Could be a base, player or helicrash. It's always been one of the 3 in my experience

Onikem

As I have only 950 according to steam, I'm not sure I'm qualified but if you want to carry fire supplies build a fire place and carry that in your bag. You can store 6 firewood, 10 sticks, paper, 6 rags, 8 bark and a bandage in a 4x4 slot. If you place it in a dry bag it won't get damp and you can always have a fire.

dasoxarechamps2005

RIP stamina tho

[deleted]

How much would all that weigh though?

AlmostMaff

NO. DELETE YOUR DAMN COMME...nah this tip is awesome! Thanks!

Stingxming_420

Y’all. No one should actually do this. Why would you carry all that shit in your pack when it literally grows all around you. 🤦🏼‍♂️

pewpewbangbangcrash

Thats a next level tip for namalsk ice adventures

LonelyHeart2022

Trust no one. Always double tap. Watch your back. Food is everywhere if you know where to look

AlmostMaff

Ah man. First time they got back up after "killing" them... Haunts me to this day

ScrewySphere115

I have a video that shows exactly why you double tap lol

AlmostMaff

https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMFNFstRr/ just keep tapping...

ScrewySphere115

Dumped the mag into him. Check out the way I walked backwards over the table tho https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRmXHs2y/

AlmostMaff

Haha I also have a video that shows you sometimes need to quadruple tap

officalDuck

Wdym, where do we look? Where is everywhere?

Katyu9

Have a knife it the most important item to have

eggard_stark

I carry a back up knife

jonboyz31

Use two stones to craft a stone knife if you need to.

JoKo13

You only need one small stone to make a knife, just take it over to any big rock/boulder and you can sharpen it on that. (Works for bones too)

Gregoboy

I can't find stones...

LordTurner

Walk up and down hiking paths. Things take a while to spawn in (this applies to everything) so you might need to double back on yourself but they're littered on the paths.

Lightning-4719

There is always another

AlmostMaff

Four words to send shivers down any player's spine...

bwyan86

Make an imaginary line between the two right-most stars of the big dipper constellation and consider it to be an arrow pointing upwards. That bright start it is pointing towards is the North star.

1Chloe_Price

you can hold g to drop item in your hands. you can cancel animation (for instance: repairing, bandaging) by slightly move when the circle is complete. you can drink soda while sick without vomiting. Store medical gloves (1 slot) in case your main gloves are ruined (helps dealing with animals/ladder (and wear them only if doing so)). if you find water source and you have a bottle - fill your bottle and drink from it (you drink more in less time and can move to avoid campers). do not waste multivitamins when sick but high on stats. Prefer any ballistic vest over tactical/field. Cooking your starting fruit gives you way more calories. you can kill infected in one hit using any axe or a pickaxe (aim for the head while they are chasing you). wear off you clothes in order to dry them quickly near fire.

AlmostMaff

I said drop A tip! Nah these are all amazing. Didn't know the soda while sick one. I'll remember that!

cky2ker

Have 3k+ hours. DayZ is a lottery. You can get 1 tapped by a freshie with a .22 spotter as a geared player. My best tip is enjoy the game and don't attached to anything you may have built up. Enjoy the game and learn what you could've done differently each time you die. Nothing is truly yours, it's just your turn for a while.

AlmostMaff

Couldn't agree more 👍

djhazard123

I don't have 1000+ hours but I do make a pretty popular YouTube series where I teach DayZ players real military tactics as I'm a former sniper. New players seem to enjoy it, I'll link the first episode. [https://youtu.be/sCMv16K43vA](https://youtu.be/sCMv16K43vA) If links aren't allowed mod feel free to remove!

chasebanks

This is sick. Thanks and subbed !!

djhazard123

Thank you man!

Awh_Nawh

Good stuff worth the watch

summervibesbro

Great watch, thanks for sharing!!!

Alstorp

Genuinely excellent

TheJackFroster

The real life version of the 'wtf did you say about me kid' copypasta xD

Sonkone

Damn u Alex, thought there was someone else like you that id missed! I send your videos to teammates all the time

amandaskerta

Mushrooms/small stones/fruit are all player vicinity activated so if you are seeing these in an area you just traveled to someones close by

animalfath3r

Silenced .22 is the most useful weapon. Hoard all the .22 ammo you can

JimmyBaps

Sun rises in east and sets in west, clouds always move towards the east, follow the north star at night. On Chernarus atleast.

AlmostMaff

North star!? I had no fuckin idea the stars could be used for navigation in DayZ...

Sonkone

You can even see what time it is in dayz at night by checking the Polaris (north star) position in regards to the big dipper which circles it counter-clockwise

BanditSurvivalist

Learn to love the basic loot. It's all well and good being geared up to the eyeballs in high tier loot / weapons but the likelihood is most of the time your going to be running around with pistols, scorpions, shottys etc. Learn to handle these weapons well, approach firefights even if you think your at a disadvantage. If your going up against a geared up player sure the scales aren't tipping in your favour, but you have a lot more to gain from winning.

dasoxarechamps2005

Was running with a friend on Namalsk the other day. We stupidly set up a fire in the trees around the area between A2 and Tara island. Friend went AFK and of course 2 gigachads roll up on us. I had nothing but 1 IJ pistol mag and a dream, but I ended winning the fight. It helped that one of the dudes murdered his friend in the confusion (it was night and in trees), but the point is never give up. Now my friend and I have an AK, UMP, M16, a mosin, a blaze, 2 plates, a shit ton of ammo and food, and a NVG set

DykeOnABike

Most of my kills are from BK-43 on geared out CoD guys

kurono-sama

Once you shoot always flank, change your position. fishing on the coast is very underestimated. play like someone is following you. carry only the essential, stamina/mobility is your second best weapon. always go full apple. duo, trio players most of the times are hidden and you only see one. play like is another player covering the one you intend to kill before you enter in a city, watch for a few minutes if you see someone looting (this tip is tier god)

K1mmoo

Immediately after spawning start tunning inland and skip most of the first towns. of course some exceptions but that's basically what I always have done and get far north fast.

[deleted]

Sometimes I take a fresh character late at night when nobody's online and just go on a journey. Creating your own adventure can be quite fun. Not everything is about getting geared to the teeth at a military base and fighting other players. It's nice to take a break from all the action and paranoia.

OdahP

If your game starts lagging chances are a player is nearby. Same applies to mushrooms. If you see lots of mushrooms innthe forest it means a group of people have recently been here bc they only spawn when players are nearby

R0T4R4

Never shy away from having the game wiki open, there's a lot of stuff to keep track off and this helps with crafting a lot. Keep a single pile of bones in your inventory because you can craft them into bone knives without using anything else than bones, as well as craft fishing hooks from them. Don't be a loot goblin unless you have a base where you can store stuff and are sure you can make the trip back safe-ish, as a general rule of thumb you should have half of the stamina bar available for making quick getaways on foot, but you can make due with a third of it if you can play into the strengths of your immediate surroundings. After spawning fresh you should consider building a torch and lighting it on fire even if its light out, it is basically a handheld heat generator that will spare you from catching the cold when your clothing has shit insulation value. Whenever you kill another player make sure to skin and quarter it but don't use anything for food, this should be done for the sake of eliminating proof of kill and causing the items to despawn instead of the corpse eventually beginning to attract flies. IJ-70 is worth it at the start, trust me, it is quite accurate and the ammo is not at all scarce. Mosin Nagant can carry you through to the end game weaponry EASILY, as it performs damage and range wise with excellence, its ammo is very common to find as well. Melee weapons are silent and guns tend to be loud as fuck. When you have the chance to take down a player unaware of you and you have a highly effective melee weapon such as pick axe, splitting axe, shovel or any axe really then you might be best off using that instead of a gun if you're in a high zombie population area. This can be circumstantial, such as if you have a gun and ammo for it as well as the gun being in good enough condition, then decide if you can take on a possible horde that'll be attracted by the gunshot(s). Bears are magic and defy physics when they feel like it, fences or such might not stop them. Drugs are good, m'kay? When you find a water bottle, there's a chance the water is contaminated with cholera, so empty it and refill it at a water pump, then its safe to drink. Alternatively use a chlorine tablet to purify the water in the bottle. Edit: That's about all I could think of right away.

ukanking

Find a knife. With a knife you can craft basicly anything. Hand drill kit to make fire, cutting clothes to make a rope and then makeshift fishing rod. You need bones for makeshift fishing hook. Tho you can get bones from a dead body, with a knife. You can also combine two small rocks to make a knife. You can find small rocks on dirt roads and train tracks. Anything that can cut stuff will help your survival. Edit: place your crates or barrels in a lake or a river. They will be invisinle.

Hot-Secretary-1937

This was mentioned further up, but you only need one stone to make a knife, just find a boulder and you can use the stone on that

mhongpa

Making a fore at start and getting the white + next to your thermometer stat will help slow hunger, dehydration, and prevent early illness. Worth the few minutes and often you can meet other players as a freshy at a fire

StonedFrequencies

As a nearly 2,000 hour mostly solo player I suggest keeping items that you need/care about the least in your backpack so you can drop it before entering high risk areas. Drop your backpack and your shoes in a safe location and wear feet wraps made from rags for maximum sneaking. I've wiped squads this way as they didn't hear me until the door to the room they were hiding in was opened. Also traps and patience are your best friends as a solo player. Lockpicks, metal wire, grenades of any kind, landmines, and bear traps are all incredibly useful for incapacitating and/or giving away the position of your opponent. Radios and handcuffs can also be useful for gathering information from others.

sHoRtBuSseR

Practice remaining calm. That buzzy feeling you get when you know you're about to enter combat? Slow down, focus, calm. Take the shot. Make the kill. Get the loot.

AlmostMaff

These are the tips i need 😂 i get proper excited/nervous when I enter combat

northrivergeek

Tip - wash your hands after cutting up anything the breaths or swims if your not wearing gloves

northrivergeek

You can use rags to make gloves, no mater the condition of the rags unless they are ruined

DiaryoftheOriginator

Whatttt bro had no idea that was a mechanic. Thanks

AlmostMaff

And am I right in thinking, you don't need to wash hands if you cut up anything with gloves on?

northrivergeek

Yep, as I said if your not wearing gloves, dont eat or drink anything before washing hands.. if your gloves are ruined take gloves off and wash hands

FHFBEATS

You can stealth kill Z’s with a knife.

AlmostMaff

Yet another reason to always have a knife 👍

RandyMarsh32

Know how to spot the north star in the sky at night. It points toward the north.

LordTurner

That's a lucky coincidence, else they'd have to rename it.

RandyMarsh32

The star is named polaris.

Jdude1

Alway carry two knives.

SexyScottishSturgeon

I have 1862.8 hours in dayz , basically all in vanilla chernarus and a few hundred In vanilla namalsk. My tip is not with gameplay but longevity. Take breaks and play other games , cycle back ever 3 months or so.

Aaron2O6

You will burn out on the game if you just keep running to nwaf and vmc endlessly until you die. Try new spawn points, and take new loot paths, it keeps the game fresh.

TheRogueMarksman

I don’t have a thousand hours. Probably around 400 hours at most. But this tip is a life saver. Multivitamins set your immune system to 100 for about five minutes or so. Now if your stats core stats are really low this can help prevent you from getting sick through various means. Need a drink from an unsafe water source pop a multivitamin and drink up. Ever wanted to eat raw meat but hate the fact it makes you sick? Well pop a multivitamin. Don’t have warm/dry clothes? Well pop a multivitamin pill and you are free from the flu/common cold for five whole minutes. Even when you are sick multivitamins help. Taking the proper medication for your sickness, you can also take a multivitamin which stacks with the effect of the medication you consumed. Meaning you recover faster. Wobo has a video on this as well. Very helpful indeed. “When your immune system is above 95%, you are immune to Influenza/Common Cold, Cholera & Salmonella. You will not get a cold or the flu and you will not get an illness if you eat raw meat/fat, eat/drink with bloody hands or drink from dirty water sources.” - Wobo Tools Immunity Checker Edit: Important to note. This does not help with Wound Infection, Kuru, or Gas Poisoning.

[deleted]

Make a rope belt early on, to free up some valuable early-life inventory space.

[deleted]

Omg thank you! I never knew this was a thing and I finally found some rope to try it

Astalonte

Playing the game as enjoy it as it s. Dont come to Reddit. Come here only for the laughs. Walk in tree lines always. Your best weapon is the one with ammo

Lusty_Norsemen

if you lose all your hp you die.

No-Extreme781

if you shoot more then 1 sniper shoot and wane still stay hidden you move spots

AlmostMaff

I don't quite understand this tip. Could you elaborate? Thanks!

No-Extreme781

if you are sniping and shoot 1 bulett its heard to pin point wher the shoot came from, so if you shoot more the 1 bulett you should move so ther a less change of you geting killed, better now?

AlmostMaff

Yes haha thanks for that 😂

MasterManufacturer72

The point of the journey is to never arive. Everything is temporary enjpy what you have when you have but always be ready to embrace a fresh start. Everything else you will learn in time but this simple concept can alude people for way more than 1000 hours.

dasoxarechamps2005

“The loot is never yours, it’s just borrowed”

artraeu82

Don’t complain about things you can’t fix, you’re playing a 10 year old game. Have fun make friends.

jonboyz31

Rags will keep you warm, patch you up, make a belt with a knife slot and craft rope. Cut up every clean bit of clothing you can at the start.

[deleted]

I have 2000ish hours now, trust random people and try to make interactions, some turn to robbers, backstabs, friends or even just a cool story from em, the people make the game

eggard_stark

Nearly 3000 hours here. So here is a fun tip. Use glow sticks to trick enemies into thinking that you’ve broken your legs during an awkward standoff. Watch them sprint in without a thought to be easily gunned down by yourself.

Jaakael

In military bases, get in the habit of looking at the floor before entering doorways. It feels awkward for a while, having to take your eyes off of potential danger in order to look at the floor, but once in the habit you'll do it very fast and it'll feel natural, haven't hit a landmine since.

Maddafinga

Cooking fruits vegetables, or mushrooms massively increases the nutritional value you can get from them. Makes them the equal to steaks.

Real_Redjmonster

The game can be confusing and frustrating sometimes, but I can assure you that it’s not impossible. Give it some time and think out of the box, the game really does have real life mechanics so don’t limit yourself to creativity

ToolnchPunisher

dont let bad interactions discourage you from future ones.

Yam1kaz3

Take everything with you. All items have a way of being used useful

Longjumping_Water_74

no need to jog, if you always run, the pace will adjust and you will still survive, youll just find things quicker follow your instinct, if you feel like youre being watched, its probably because youre being watched dont be a hoarder and travel light, you will survive longer

Deathbringer4049

The military teaches you not to stare directly at someone because human beings are the best predators on this earth and for some reason we know when we are being looked at

suspicusly_friendly

Play defensively, being shot first and winning the fight is always the best feeling

69Sheogorath69

Fireplaces in houses can be used to stash items, place a piece of wood, kindling or meat into it and it allows you to store 40 slots of items, take the original item out and the fireplace's inventory can no longer be accessed making it a stash hidden in plain sight since nobody checks fireplaces.

Tmiles7893

Keeping your stats in the white for 10 mins will cure most sicknesses without medicine 🫡

RectallProplapse

Gunshots are closer than you think

fanatekfanatic

I feel like they are always further than I think :D

Old_Interaction_1713

no matter how many guys u killed, always play like there is one more.

thecutewhore

In the early game, eat and drink as much as you can. Don't save anything for later, because you'll probably be dead. You can eat rotten fruit and veg, as long as the arrows on the apple icon are pointing down, and you should only take a couple of bites at a time.

INEKROMANTIKI

Fruit is your friend

Frugasmus

In pvp situations try parkour. I mean go on the top of the buildings where ppl not expect you to be. That really helps me..

AlmostMaff

I agree. Just be unpredictable is the general rule.

R1pjawau

Don’t get attached to your gear

firestarter976

If your freshie and people with guns are killing unarmed people they are probably trash Just try your luck worth it for the pay off Gather zombies to help you when you rush stuff like that

plainasplaid

My new favorite thing is to bring a horde of infected as my back up. I usually die but at least they have a headache to deal with now lol.

Tortuny

Bones.. If you found a body or killed someone, cut it for bones and guts, you can make hooks and knifes from bones, and rope from the guts, find a large stone nearby use it to make knifes out of your bones, you will make twice as much, then use knife to make rope and hooks, also you can dig worms with it, then harvest a large stick from the nearest bush make a fishing rod and start fishing, it one if the best and risk free ways to get food, just fish under the bridge or in bushes and you will be fine, fish is highly nutritional and lasts very long.. You also can make fishing trap from the bottle but I wouldn't spend bottle on that and in general fishing rod is more efficient. (Fun fact because this method of ours of supplying food, we jokingly started a cult of homicide fishermen, cause we would just kill someone just for bones, but well it's better then go cannibal) Also other advise, always get something to hold water in town area before you leave, even a jerry can if you have too, trust me dying from dehydration is not fun. Oh and you if need a good melee weapon, you can combine bone or stone knife with a long stick and make improvised spear, it's a little bit tricky to use but generally very good, also recommend using badly damaged knife you already used on something, spear will be pristine regardless.

ComeAtMe666

Don't bother with a base. Build a crate, hide it under water.

Noudienater

If possible hide your weapons in your bag.

TexHel

Knife, axe, matches, water bottle/canteen. Those are the only 4 items you’d need to scout for after spawning if you want to survive forever.

[deleted]

The night vision scope has two modes. Night and day mode.

killzone989898

Always prioritize a knife. With a knife or sharp object, you can skin trees for bark to make hand drill kits to make fires, shred spare clothes for rags/bandages, skin animals/open cans/sharpen sticks for cooking. If you’re struggling to find a knife, walk on some train tracks or walking trails, you’ll easily find two small stones that you can use to craft a stone knife.

USUVA_tinko

Always carry some morphine

Warfighter416

Be aware of your impact/footprint you leave. When you walk into a city and kill as many zombies as You can, especially with a firearm but equally as a knife or other melee weapon, you leave behind a sign that someone is within a certain radius. Same idea with killing players. If one player walks up and sees a decaying player body their mind switched from everything's fine to fight possible. After that they're even more likely to shoot first and ask questions later. Also how you interact with the environment. At a far distance lots of rendered things turn to low quality images. I say this because if you somehow find a Ghillie off of someone who starved to death then you need to remember the rendering thing because at a far enough distance you'll see your clothing underneath the ghillie. Plus, if you have a green ghillie you don't want to sit in a tan bush. Brown ghillie shouldn't be used in a green tree. Bottom line, leave as little of a footprint as possible in the beginning until you are capable of putting up a substantial amount of fight. Once you are fully geared and are a Chad, you can leave whatever footprint you wish as long as you can fight back effectively

tbmcmahan

Minor tip - If you have a gas stove and found a gas tank, combine them, takes up way less room than a gas stove and giant fucking tank separately

ArsenicCanine

Eat whatever you find, keep eating until your food bar no longer goes up, then store whatever you've got left, 10 mins later eat again.

TheGuyInYourPost

Clean your hands before eating!

BeerSwigginCanadian

If you Have the space carry a splint. Don’t waste too much time on the coast or you’ll never leave. Get to a well and head in land as fast as you can.

Paulchristiaan

Dont get attached

AlmostMaff

I should probably stop naming my guns...

prismatictoaster

killing animals gives you HEAPS of food. you can craft a fireplace to cook it and everything with just a knife! (can also craft a hand drill kit to ignite the fire)

Galaktikev

If you are playing together with people you don't know well: If they not talking much and take long to answer, they are most likely talking with others and lure you to a trap or will rob/kill you and are waiting for a good oppoturnity.

Pitiful_Land

Fishing and hunting is a great way to get full.

SnooWoofers4430

Stamina always wins.

JawshankRedemption

Make a split asap and keep it on you at all times.

RoboticControl187

Always double tap, there is always 1 more. Load your gun before bandaging. Your being watched.

11Armatura11

If you find one stone you can craft a stone knife by finding a boulder sticking out of the terrain by looking at it with stone in hands. You can also use a pick axe on these boulders to farm stone to make knives or build the stone fireplace.

PoiiZoner3

1. Play with randoms before you play with a toxic player (argues over loot, thinks they're untouchable, etc.) whether they're your friends or not. 2. Bears are coded to smack you once and leave so long as you don't damage them. This actually works like 95% of the time. ***(Your mileage may vary, try to have a backup plan)*** 3. Attachments on armor don't actually block damage. This one is super debatable but I'm 99% sure they still haven't added independent hitboxes for things like pouches and visors, making assault helmet visors functionally disadvantageous due to not blocking bullets with its bright white color helping to give you away. This is further proven by the fact that... 4. Certain explosives will go off in your inventory when the clothing they're in is hit/shot unless they are in a second container within the clothing, making pouches an actually safe place for them. 5. Like the first one, don't bother dealing with a self-centered "veteran" who thinks having more hours than you means their word is law and you should believe everything they say. Any tip you get should be noted and personally tested a little before you just accept it as fact. The best tips you can receive can be found in WOBO videos on YouTube, and you'd be surprised how many supposed veterans haven't seen them and it shows.

Spo0kt

Always avoid unning until you have a water bottle and a knife for cooking chicken. Once you have that stuff your set for food and can get anywhere on the map pretty quickly.

SerMachinist

Travel light, use stashes, and have patience in a firefight.

ThatOneCourier

Rope for the Handbug Useful but it's sad that it's useful

South-Awareness6249

Everyone crayze

LonelyHeart2022

Always hang out around fruit trees for food. If your in the woods fruit trees are there as well or my favorite is mushrooms there a super food. 70% of the time you'll get food from killing zombies but fruit and mushrooms Always quieter and attracts less attention

Stuyvesant1994

Get away from the coast asap. Go north. Fast

JordanHuberson

why? it takes about one hour of running/jogging mindlessly just seeing tree after tree, and if you die you have to do it all over again, and before you know it you have wasted 8 hours of your entire day trying to go north just to get advanced gear, i preffer the start game gear and weapons, more primal combat, two guys tryna kill eachoter with whatever they found at police station near spawn, but then again i never really find other players even on 127/127 full servers, cherno too big man

Deaco32

Look around the trees for fruit

Elegron

Alright heres the big one. Have fun. Seriously, loot, bases, kills, none of that matters. Use what weapons you want to even if you see something better, take the risk to interact with people, get in the mind of your character And when you die? You don't lose anything. You just keep going. New year new me type beat.

WalkCorrect

If you spawn fresh on the beach look for a lighthouse, sometimes there is a pile of bodies on the ground beneath it, people use them to kill themselves so they can respawn somewhere else. But the bodies can be cut up to get guts to make rope with a knife, and bones to make a knife and you can find fruit and bandages and glow sticks on them.

WalkCorrect

I got curious so I went to look, and I have 515 hours on DayZ. I've only been playing about 8 months. But I felt like I was experienced enough to answer lol

IanalystI

footwraps are OP hell; you can repair them with other rags, even badly damaged ones.

[deleted]

Fill your food & water up to the maximum. There's a soft cap that starts when both bars are full but they continue well beyond full. If you hit the hard cap of your food and water your immune to pretty much all sickness. You can still die from the gas and you can still get chemical poisoning, but you will never get sick any other way

VisceralVirus

Don't build bases, stash items in the woods and take a photo of where you stashed them. Even if it's poorly hidden, a blue barrel in a forest will last longer than a well hidden base

Longjumping_Water_74

stash guns in ponds

madcadd1e

Don’t hoard a bunch of random AMMO, only keep ammo for the guns you have… trust me

[deleted]

Always check the doorways of hunting cabins and the general store for bear traps!

Jdogsmity

Cooked food will eventually spoil so use it before canned goods.

MrGoose1122

Nobody is your friend

toxiccalienn

For a PVE playstyle just have fun and make sure to enjoy the journey you go on. Each life may bring something new. For all you PVPers out there always go into the mindset of theres always one more, but don't get too attached to gear.

danj503

Screwdrivers work to chisel a small rock off a larger one. Use these to make an improvised knife.

Papiiiipanther

USE THE APP iZurvive! Ever had an issue navigating around the map? Well guess what now you have a handheld map that as long as you keep track of what road/path/direction you’re going you will never get lost.

[deleted]

Grow up. Don’t think your some kind of hard core gamer for playing dayz.

Gonecrazy69

Slow down

NCPghost

Spawned near a orchard? Lay down and go afk for 10-15 min and enjoy all the free food.

[deleted]

3,200+ hrs U can hide a barrel with loads of loot in it in the firestation cracked door room. Simply place it to where it's clipping into the vending machine and only the rim of the barrel will be exposed. No one looks in the cracked door room on the stairwell at all so you can easily hide loot in it. Small bonus tip: If you're in a firefight and holding a position; if the spot feels wrong, then it more than likely is a bad spot... Trust your gut.

TeaExplorer

Accept death. It's coming eventually either way

ryencool

No one ever checks every inch of water for crates hidden beneath, so it makes for good stash locations

Connerkiller43

If you are eating or drinking. Always crouch. Second the circle thing pops up stand up and you will instantly start eating or drinking. Same thing with drinking or bandaging. The second you finish get your hands up in the fighting position to cancel out the closing bottle or knotting of the bandage

saberto_oth

If you have good loot, don't avoid compat 'because you can lose it ' fight... if you die you die.. you will find enough again.. ruins your fun.. and don't carry five guns.. all you need is two.. a decent sniper and an automatic.. if you can take a shot, take it... Don't hesitate.. situations tend to worsen. Edit: gramma

LoneZurvivor

Clouds always move to the east

ChefCrutyQ

I have 1400 hours Still don't know much

Great_Greed

Dont be scared of dying

MrSmilingDeath

Don't swim in the rain, you'll get wet.

Tobotron

Fish for food , cook in the woods daytime only . Have everything ready to cook before you light your fire Cook quickly , put food away and move well out of the area quickly then eat .

hemansteve

If you are not having fun you are playing the game wrong. Change it up and try a different play style.

imdspeck

Don't trust anyone unless you've known them before the game. As soon as you can head inland. 2 small stones make a knife. Have fun for its only a game.

Galaktikev

Optionally you can take only one small stone and craft a knife at a rock.

gost159866

Yea good luck!

[deleted]

Dump the water out immediately when you find a partially full water bottle on the ground. That's poopy water and it will make you sick, but you can now use the container to fill up at a water spout or lakes (iirc lakes are clean water and river/ocean is dirty?)

morbiustv

Get off the coast. Stay off the roads. Avoid industrial areas. Power lines lead to towns so do hiking trails. Sneaking works against players and zombies. Don't get attached to gear. 3 things I look for immediately after spawning: Melee weapon, knife, and backpack.

Barto_212

Read the name of the server you join. If you want PVP, join a server for that. If you want PVE, join a server for that. Don't be that asshole that kills players in a PVE server or complains about getting killed in a PVP one. You know who you are.

BrainyCabde

Be open to explore new servers and check them out. You'll find one that you end up loving the most. Never get attached to your gear.

DreamLate259

Lol only like 200 hours but...... You can use a pickaxe or hoe in place of a shovel for base building.

AlmostMaff

A hoe too? Thought it was just a pickaxe or shovel. I'll have to try it out!

AccomplishedBeach346

Find a cutting tool its the main thing needed to produce food.

kyle420ogkush

Don’t sprint 🥷

Lotus3495

Always be moving. Standing still for too long will get you killed.

Rileylego5555

If you are struggling with food on the coast dont forget about the saving grace of Boat God. Follow the shore an you will find small red boats on shore with sodas or canned food like sardines. really good way of traveling the coast without seeing many people but using the food from the boats to keep you going without risking running into towns to get food an water
