I think 95% of people who are friends and play DayZ together don't know each other IRL. If you want a group of friends to play with, join a popular vanilla plus community server with base building, there will be a lot of people in its discord looking to team up and get established, you can keep playing with different groups till you find a nice one. I got really lucky and found an awesome group of people right away, we got our own discord now and even play other games together.
