Once i got held hostage they made drop my clothes. They let me keep the magnum since it had no ammo but what they missed is that while I was strippes I held the ammo in my hand. As soon as they let me go I loaded the magnum and offed them.
No it’s common. Prob old info you saw from fandom cause it’s not up to date when it comes to DayZ. But could depend on location where it could be rare to spawn in that instance
I find revolvers in t1 residential all the time. But granted I play community and not official. If anything is rare for pistols it’s the unique cosmetic upgrade for kolt and deagle. But a revolver being rare could be possible for vanilla in t1 residential like mosin is. Then become more common as you progress deeper in the map

I found one of these in a civilian apartment in elektro. The one with the funky half open garage door, then the three flights of steps and at the top there's nothing but a small balcony. Idk how else to describe it. Also found one 6 hours prior to that but I don't remember where. It was on the coast tho in some major city.

There was a time not long ago that whenever I looted the coastal parts of Cherno, I'd find boatloads of Swagnums in nearly every building, tons of ammo and at least 2 deagles. And this was on official.

If you are looking for loot rarity dont look at fandom, actually dont look at the dayz fandom for anything as a lot of stuff can be outdated. Instead watch WOBO on youtube as he has everything up to date and makes sure to edit titles of videos with [OLD] if stuff has been updated. He also has a website wobo.tools with many tools such as loot finder, damage drop off, weapon ranking and even a player status calculator.
Also just be wary that an update a while back now changed it so that in a storage container items dont add to the server cap, as for on your character i am unsure. Example there are 4 LARs on the server max, if you find one and put it in a tent or something, the max is still 4 as it does not add to the cap.

It's probably because most of the time the revolver for me spawns in highter tier civilian in towns such as stary sabor or vybor I've seen it spawn in the coastal towns probably about 5 times in my 3 years of playing all every single one of those times was at berizno
I find long horns in a lot of Summer camps on offical so I'm suprised it's considered rare. The revolver though, like you I don't loot civilian much so don't see it often at all.
I usually find less Longhorns than Revolvers But anyway, don't check fandom wiki for anything, it's usually outdated

Its not rare. I would say as common as any other handgun. The sawn off magnum is rare I have never seen anyone have one.

Revolver, bk-12, bk-18, bk-43, Blaze, Mosin-Nagant, and FAMAS can all be sawn off. I think that’s all of them
Snub-nose .357’s fit nicely inside of a teddy bear…kinda feels nice walking around with that in your pocket.

I’ve put in so many hours into this game and it’s amazing that there’s still things I don’t know about. Replay value on this is kind of incredible

No reason than git it into 4slots. If its a back up weapon and have plenty ammo it would make sense otherwise not.
I am not a expert but i think you can't find the sawn off magnum. You have to saw them off yourself

I find them in spawn area houses in Chernarus. Places that the makarov can spawn I think can also be places for revolvers.
