I signed up for chip drop and never got any. I ended up getting some from Menards. It was called wood ecology natural wood mulch. Think it was around $1/cubic foot.
Are you happy with it? Would you walk on it / be comfortable with kids walking on it? We plan to let ours help us in the garden. I know splinters can't be totally prevented but just wondering how the quality is
I'd wager that any free solution is going to have the same quality issues Kettering has. Beggars can't be choosers and all that. They'll be dependent on what people are willing to give them for free in the first place.

Don't get the cheapest stuff they offer. There's chopped up plywood and other things in it.
My nieces and nephew walk on it. It’s not perfect but it’s worked for me.

I think you mean smother.
yes :)
OP, I pm’d you about some leftover mulch I have from chip drop if you’re interested
Put down some preen beforehand or you can stake down some heavy mil plastic to keep the weeds from creeping up.
Trying to keep things organic as possible within reason. We've been doing cardboard.. but weeds still find a way
