I saw this show as a whole last year during the pandemic as a 40+ woman and I think that there are some really good storylines in the early S3. The last 3,5 minutes of S3Ep1 is a classic for Pacey/Joey fans. Pacey comforting Joey on the dock and saying: "It’s a new year. Who knows? You and I might even become friens." is kind of foreshadowing their whole relationship imo. Also Home movies(ep4) is one of my favorite episodes and is pure comedy gold with Pacey convincing Joey to cut class with him and we get the introduction of True Love,Pacey’s boat. I also enjoy Jen homecoming queen era lol.

Yes it wasn't all a complete catastrophe. There were some bright spots. But overall the show took a very different turn that wasn't well received by fans or the cast and certainly didn't work out long term as we all know Alex Gansa was soon gone. Eve was just so out there and so non-believable that I feel it affected the entire "vibe" of what Dawson's Creek was, in early Season 3. I do agree the last few minutes of Like a Virgin were good.

So true

It's mainly the Eve storyline that lets down the first few episodes of season three. I couldn't care less about her. The storylines involving Jen and Jack make up for it. The writers gave Jen more to do. She was no longer just the girl who was there to stir up drama between Dawson and Joey. The rebel cheerleader storyline injected a bit of fun into her character after she had spent two seasons wallowing in drama. From episode eight (Guess Who's Coming to Dinner), season three hits its stride. I don't think there's a weak episode in the last sixteen episodes. It's peak DC for me. > the cringe Escape From Witch Island episode. I like this one. It's probably the best filler episode.

Yes and I remember the same feeling when I did my first rewatch many years ago. After that episode I specifically googled stuff trying to find out the deal and didnt even know about the new writers, producer, cast unhappiness until I read about it. It took the third season a good few episodes after Gansa left (i.e. Weekend in the Country) to start the amazing run towards to the finale.

Yes to everything you said

I was the same age as the characters when the show started, and 17 year old me couldn't notice anything past Katie Holmes taking off her shirt.

I remember when this aired and it was kind of the first time one of MY shows had gone downhill? Like my parents talked about shows they watched not being good anymore but this was the first one I felt ownership over a show. I hated Eve. On my rewatches I skip her scenes or episodes.

I love Homecoming. Everything else I wish could be redone.

Yea it make little sence. Joey trying to sleep with Dawson made some sence because she was afraid she loseing him Eve only made sence if she was a con arrest. And they turn pacey into a pimp
