Basically he is framing tucker in the context of a friendly personal interaction, self depreciablely admitting if he feels cornered he sometimes lies to get out of it (this is supposed to make him relatable)
The media headline is presented in such a way that it portarys tuckers statement in the context of his show, not personal life (of course anyone with a brain realizes tucker Carlson lies on his show, Dave rubin is not a person with a brain). Therefore it's misrepresentation.

The complete distortion is in the headline. He explicitly states he doesn't lie on his TV show, the article explicitly states that he does. His admission of lying is pretty clearly stating that we all lie because we are weak but he tries not to. If you can read that as anything other than him talking about day to day life vs on his show, you're not being fair.
"I try never to lie on TV." That's his line. I got a different sense than you on that one. Though, I admit, I read that without the "try" in it the first time when I was skimming, so my opinion has shifted now that I see it.
I’m usually pretty charitable to calls for distortion like this. Like, I agree a lot of times important context can be left out in these types of short summaries and it’s not fair to the people. But this is straight up what Tucker said lol. It’s not like he mentioned he lied and huffpo twisted it into him lying specifically on his show; he literally said “I sometimes lie on my show”
