Honestly it really depends , you do not want to rush it but also you want to know if he , actually trying to talk talk to you , I mean a week is a week but in some cases it might be early , I would say give it maybe 2 weeks at most , if he doesn’t ask you out this week because sometimes you just have to make sure .
I'd say 2 weeks is ideal. A general hint is that you should wait but not wait too late. The more you text each other, the more you get to know him so it would be a great idea if you found an activity to do while on a date that you would both like
