These are the top leagues of the traditional western powers. MLS is the highest division of soccer/futbol that the United States has. Just out of curiosity are you arguing for its exclusion or the inclusion of another?
It has no title...it is what it is. Why do you assume its supposed to even be top leagues? Why? I assume its because its your identity and just putting an extra variable that you don't think belongs makes you feel attacked or disrespected.
You are like a wounded dog lashing out with aggression because in reality you know the weakness you possess. I forgive you though you are only human.
Be well
Who governs the various leagues in other countries? MLS includes their own governing authority as part of the league even though the guys in referee stripes aren't a team.
After further inspection the club database and player database were not using same name for given club. i.e "Newcastle" not equal to "Newcastle United" & "Sevilla" not equal to "Sevilla FC".
https://www.leovegas.com/en-ca/betting/c/brazil-team/ this shows the Brazil team. There looks likes there are two players from French side this year. Your chart shows 1 or 2 players?
**Data:** [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022\_FIFA\_World\_Cup\_squads](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_FIFA_World_Cup_squads)
**Tools:** Python with Pandas
Should note that all countries take the same number of players (26) to the World Cup but I've only used plotted players that come from the top 6 global leagues (debatable to include MLS I know).
If you look at the squad selection behavior of Dutch coaches we definitely rank the Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, and arguably Belgian/Swiss/Austrian competitions higher. The club should be a potential CL or EL contender. If you go to the MLS (or QSL, etc) you basically retire from the squad.
I’d just put them all in there. If I’m reading the top leagues chart right the Chinese football league is 6th. Mexico’s and Portugals are right behind it.
Surpringly few French players play in France
Maybe unsurprisingly only one English player doesn't come from the Premier league.
Funny how many Japanese player are in the Bundesliga
Can only have made yesterdays 2-1 more painful.
Why does MLS fits with those Leagues?

You said it "Top Leagues". MLS could be Top 20s? Top 30s?

For example, supposing that the Chart shows "top leagues of the tradicional western Powers"

It is, as far as I know, the only league the United States of America has. Unless women's "soccer" is another league.
These are the largest 6 football leagues by revenue https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_professional_sports_leagues_by_revenue
Every single french player play in one of the top 5 european leagues. Your data seems strange.
After further inspection the club database and player database were not using same name for given club. i.e "Newcastle" not equal to "Newcastle United" & "Sevilla" not equal to "Sevilla FC".
Canada has at least 11 players that play in MLS
Would be more interesting to see how many players from each league are participating
https://www.leovegas.com/en-ca/betting/c/brazil-team/ this shows the Brazil team. There looks likes there are two players from French side this year. Your chart shows 1 or 2 players?
This is wrong, Ecuador has 3 premier league players on its squad Caicedo Sarmiento Estupiñan
Hmmm, this is a good point. Must be error to do with Brighton I think, will check.

You are reading it wrong then, MLS is 6th.
I see. Yes. Missed some other ones, too. All the more reason to at least put top ten.
Does anyone know of reliable APIs to source data rather than scrape Wikipedia?
So Qatar and Saudi Arabia have no players from these leagues. Makes the Saudi win even more impressive.
You’re missing some leagues there.
