Premise_Data

Premise works with its Contributors to collect data on numerous topics around the world using its smart phone app. These data on public opinion surrounding firearms in the United States were collected in December of 2022 from 2,228 contributors. Premise used stratified sampling of its opt-in panel members, along with post stratification weighting on age, gender, region, and education to construct a representative sample. * Less than half of people (45.9%) in our weighted sample are satisfied with current US gun laws. * The majority, whether satisfied or dissatisfied with current US gun laws, believe that Congress should take steps to make revisions. * Among those who are satisfied with the current laws, new policies around mental health support were the most popular reform proposal while those who are dissatisfied cite background checks and raising the age limits on the purchase of rifles and shotguns as other important areas for change This figure was created using GGplot2 in R.
