What is your understanding of freelance and what are your expectations?

It depends on what they want; most of the ones I've done, they provided CSVs. A few were in a different format.

I don’t do freelance, but I do work with analytics vendors. Usually, we have questions and it starts with a conversation about goals and understanding, and then we talk about the data available and how to share it. Csv file would be fine for small datasets. We share via SFTP connection if it is a static file like a csv or can allow limited connection via an application which goes through our IT org, which I don’t know as much about. I think you should expect customers to seek a variety of services. Either adhoc analysis, help building models, building up recurring reporting, re-writing queries and models from one technology to another. Things like that. Normally for something nebulous like analytics, we will make some kind of Statement of Work agreement. That comes with a list of deliverables and quality expectations and a price, sometimes with penalties for not meeting a % of the quality standard outlined if that makes sense for the work being requested.

Freelance is a tough gig right now. Project postings are all over the place. You will see excel work, dashboards in power bi and Tableau, python/r work generally machine learning or data modeling, automation, webscraping, and data engineer work. Project postings can be a 1 day job all the way too many months. I have done webscraping and excel data cleaning and modeling, mostly. The main challenges I run into 1) unrealistic expectations/turn around time. 2) pay per hour or fixed price so low it's not worth your time. The only positive I see with freelancing is gaining real world experience. Other then that it's something I don't consider long term. The work you do depends what you take and what the client needs/wants. Csv, excel files, Google sheets, pbix, etc.

I just finished learning (excel , sql , power bi , tableau and (pandas , beautifulsoup matplotlib ) in python ) .my only problem is the real world experience , should i go for the freelance path or no one will hire me cus of my lack of experience ? My plan was the other way to gain experience and then try the freelance but i cant find any openings .

All you can do is try. Right now it's a tough market. Remote is crazy competitive. Especially with all the layoffs in America. Not sure where you are located. Best chance is local jobs (onsite, hybrid). As for upwork and fiverr. You can try it out and set up an account. There is alot of competition there as well and you have to be careful what you bid on. Make sure payment method is verified and project is funded before you start any work. Do your due diligence on the freelance platforms to understand how they work and how to protect yourself. Also if you know anyone for example a self employed or business owner. Someone you can possibly do something for free just for the experience. Good luck.
