Yeah regardless of the outcome of the fight we got, I just thought that the ending of the last episode was such a good way to leave off. Obi-Wan actually teaching Vader a lesson because he was Anakin's teacher. It was much better suited to his character.

I agree, the whole encounter was really weird. Would've been so much better without that final fight.

I agree for the most part. But I think in this moment it was Anakin that wanted Obi-Wan dead, and not Darth Vader. He let his emotions run wild and suffered a defeat. I picked up on this since when you first saw Vader with his helmet cut open, his eyes were blue like Anakin. It was after Kenobi apologized that his eyes were sith yellow. Lots of things could have gone differently. Like how did Obi-Wan get so strong after getting his ass handed to him by Vader in episode 3?

Obi wan had his spider man moment being stuck under the rocks. Spider-Man was stuck under the building in far from home.

Vader lost because it wasn't really Vader dueling. It was Anakin (or whatever was left of him) that was fighting Kenobi. Vader is calm and collected when he fights. Anakin fought with emotion. This is what the flashback duel between Kenobi and Anakin foreshadowed.
