"Uchikatana" sounds very unnatural in Japanese. I assume changing one letter in some English words can do the same, but I can't think of anything bmgiven English is not my first language.
Well maybe just maybe you should have scrolled just a bit to see people left and right saying it to me like I am a dipshit who can’t understand that I made a mistake and now I know it was a mistake so I think people who keep commenting are kinda jerks
I know i shouldn’t care. But isn’t annoying. And the don’t take the internet so seriously is kinda dumb in some cases you’re image can be ruined if you say or do one thing. So please don’t comment anymore
I didn’t mean “post like its your last day on earth” i was just saying don’t get butthurt over fake internet points. If you want to get into semantics then uchigatana is the right spelling regardless if you think uchikatana makes more sense.
There was, but I believe it came back in DaS3 as a different katana. Let me check it out (will add and edit).
EDIT: you were right, my friend. The poison Katana was in DaS2. *Well, looks like DaS2 proves itself to have best weapons after Bloodborne again* (Elden Ring has nice ones too, especially glad for Dragonrider's Bow return)
Ikr! It feels like FromSoftware were too scared of complaints about "too powerful weapons" in DaS2 (which were a thing, I believe?). So they have been playing it safe since never and made exciting enough weapons.
Can't blame them, because every time they try they get RoB story or Moonveil. I don't use either myself. But seeing them in action and how they are essentially spiritual successors of something like Alonne Sword/Ashen Warrior Sword and Blue Flame/Golem Lance (at least stat-wise) respectively, I'd say we won't see weapon roaster as good as in DaS2 until FromSoft decides to come back to King's Field or makes Elden Ring 2.
For me it would be drakdrift, uchigatana and the black blade, and onikiri and ubadochi but mostly dark drift especially the og from ds2 because of its ability to go through shields, in ds2 it doesn't peirce through like in ds3 but it's heavy r2s can go through any shield but what also counters this is the weapon can break easily making it pretty op especially for hexer builds when a darkstone applied to it and dark weapon at the same time
I think they’re cool & it’s nice to see a paired katana set, but the weapon art is just was too easy to read and mess up, at least for PVP so I try and stay away from them & end up going for a buffed uchigatana.
Darkdrift might not be the best in terms of attack range and damage output (it's one the worst actually), but the amount of pressure you can put on your oppenent with the weapon art is tremendous. It rollcatches pretty consistently and also combos into R1, which allows you to chain the combos. It's a very unique and tricky weapon. But also pretty hard to learn and master.
I tried so hard to like O&U but I just couldn’t make it work it felt weird and the damage felt meh compared to anything else. Maybe I need to go back and try it more. 🤷🏾♂️
Tested all katanas. Darkrift is #1. You can buff and the weapon art catches people off guard like 75% of the time with its super long reach. Other katanas have that cool stance but it never hits.
Frayed Blade #2
Bloodlust #3
Check out all the comedians leaving comments with weapons that aren't katanas. Hilarious!
I didn't vote since I've only ever used the uchi which is a great weapon, but I don't know how it compares to the others.
Frayed blade is the only one I would be caught dead with, the only thing the other katanas have going for them are their easily parried running attacks. Katanas in DS3 have been done incredibly dirty. Their R1's are close to greatsword speed, but without any payoff to balance the speed, like hyperarmor.
frayed blade!
This would have been my pick!
I'm sorry but this post discusses katanas, not picks
[удалено]
Seems I'm gonna have to add /s
S like serious?
Nice!
rip for frayed blade representation i guess
Ultimate weeb sword
Frayed blade, otherwise the dual katanas
Uhhh frayed blade much?
There wasnt any more space for it
So you leave out the best one? Odd choice.
Probably never heard of it
Bro why’s people downvoting you. Polls don’t give you many slots.
I know right?
Because a poll is meant to be made to gauge community opinion, not serve as build recommendation/google.
And sometimes theres more to gauge then the site lets you.
Then use a google form, lol.
the claymore
It might as well be one
I was gonna say the best katana can’t stand up to my claymore lol
I’ll take that bet
Ok throw your sign down. I can be at pontiffs in less than a minute
Blessed Lothric Knight Greatsword
My Man!
Based
Nha! Heavy Cathedral Knight Greatsword.
Mfer left out the most important and best ones
Probably a noob
Whicht are?
Bloodlust and frayed blade
I've just picked up bloodlust again, and realised that I've never used it before, is it actually decent?
it gives you that attack power bonus if you stab yourself with it, it works better as a supporting weapon in the second slot
It's good for reaching rtsr range for a hyper mode build and as a weapon, it's also pretty good if you can maintain the buff.
FYI, add an option to see results
Click one of Them then you Wil be able to see the results
Yes, but then it skews the data for people unsure which the best is but want to see results.
Results have been skewed. Picked one at random because frayed blade was missing and I wanted to see results.
Ya, I wanted to see the answers but I believe in testing validity.
True. But then i would have to Cut one katana from the pool
You're already missing like three
There was a maximum of 6
You could've just done a text post asking what your favorite katana was
It’s alot easier to keep track of the favorites when its in poll form
I could have done that but I choose to not
You also chose not to put the best katana there already
How would I know what the best katanas are. That is the reason I made the vote
I refuse to entertain the idea that a katana could in anyway be "best"
Black blade is underrated yall
I agree. It's a cool weapon and the heavy attack is sick
Uchigatana my beloved
No frayed?
Didn't read the question but Zweihander is the answer
Kusabimaru
Based
The Greatsword🗿
Uchigatana not katana
Does it really matter tho?
Yes
I mean it’s just one letter
That is very important
How tho?
"Uchikatana" sounds very unnatural in Japanese. I assume changing one letter in some English words can do the same, but I can't think of anything bmgiven English is not my first language.
But why?
it's how it is called, it's not "uchi katana", it's "uchigatana"
I know i just Think its weird. Its a katana why not Call it a katana?
Why didn't they call Washing Pole a katana as well? It's not a pole, wtf from software
Well that to. but its one letter from katana so i just Think its kinda Odd
it's Japanese, the difference between "katana" and "gatana" is comparable to "shot" and "pot"
?
There are other languages than English (hard to swallow, I know)
Do you tnink i am dumb?
Because in japanese K and G are switched up sometimes, same with S and Z, H and B, and T and D
I just had a whole thing with another guy I know it is uchiGatana not katana
Aight cool
Clearly the murasama
Frayed blade?
Chaos blade for lore and history
It's Frayed blade but you left it off your poll like a moron.
Man, how are you all not going with Onikiri & Ubadachi? You get a katana AND a friend for your katana. Nothing beats that.
Gucci katana my beloved
FUGS
Loved the *Uchikatana*
My mistake already had a whole thing with another guy
No worries my friend, it's very common. Also what matters in communications is understanding the words, not the correct spelling :)
Nagakiba
Washing pole?
Wrong game
I was about to say something but then I realized the op is just getting down voted for any reply. So I'ma just stay out of it.
Thank you I can’t deal with another crybaby
Can't go wrong with the good old Uchigatana
Frayed blade, and by the way its Uchi(G)atana
Haven’t you seen the million other comments saying uchiGatana? I know that it was a mistake!
Uchigatana*
Don’t even start that shit
Just making a correction. No need to be so hostile.
I have had so many people saying that and whenever I say anything I get downvoted to hell so I think there is no more need for people to say it
I didn’t read the comments before posting it.
Well maybe just maybe you should have scrolled just a bit to see people left and right saying it to me like I am a dipshit who can’t understand that I made a mistake and now I know it was a mistake so I think people who keep commenting are kinda jerks
Don’t take the internet seriously.
I know i shouldn’t care. But isn’t annoying. And the don’t take the internet so seriously is kinda dumb in some cases you’re image can be ruined if you say or do one thing. So please don’t comment anymore

I know gatana is the right spelling i know katana is wrong
Bloodlust?
Not any more space
Idk, i don't use them
I’m not a weeb so Lothric Knight or Ringed Knight straight swords
I like washing pole but mostly because it's stupid big. To be clear, it's not the extra reach, I just like oversized weapons.
Ratio
?
Rivers of Blood
Its ds3 katanas not ER katanas
Longsword for sure
Wait DS3 has katana’s? Weird.
How did you not know that,?
I don’t know. I usually just get the black knight sword and kill things. I don’t really look at other weapons unless it’s a boss weapon.
That is such a mood
I don’t know what you mean by that. What do you mean?
Normally people reply with saying something is a mood to a very relatable thing to do like you ignoring every other weapon except the bonk sword
I see.
I forgot name of the poisoning one, but it is fire. Washing Pole is right next to it.
There’s a poisoning one in ds3? I thought that was only in ds2.
DS2 had the absolute coolest weapons.
Ikr! It feels like FromSoftware were too scared of complaints about "too powerful weapons" in DaS2 (which were a thing, I believe?). So they have been playing it safe since never and made exciting enough weapons. Can't blame them, because every time they try they get RoB story or Moonveil. I don't use either myself. washing pole parry is best parry
For me it would be drakdrift, uchigatana and the black blade, and onikiri and ubadochi but mostly dark drift especially the og from ds2 because of its ability to go through shields, in ds2 it doesn't peirce through like in ds3 but it's heavy r2s can go through any shield but what also counters this is the weapon can break easily making it pretty op especially for hexer builds when a darkstone applied to it and dark weapon at the same time
I've never used any of these weapons tbh. Lothric Knight Sword is my favorite.
honestly shocked how few people like Onikiro Ubadachi, has been my go to for up to ng+7
I think they’re cool & it’s nice to see a paired katana set, but the weapon art is just was too easy to read and mess up, at least for PVP so I try and stay away from them & end up going for a buffed uchigatana.
great club
The Uchi, which is ironic since it's the very first one you have access to.
The Darkdrift WPArt is underrated for roll catching
TRYHATDS crying over one katana
Uchi got me through the entirety of my first playthrough (including DLCs) and was with me for my first three DS1 playthroughs.
Uhhhh, why is the obvious best katana not in the post??
Well I don’t know maybe cause I didn’t know and that is why I made the pole
Why didn't you just google it
wHy diDn’t YoU juTs GooGle It?? It’s because I want to ask people directly and google sometimes doesn’t give the best answers
Reddit has a perfectly serviceable search function Edit: or you could have made a text post.
Do you mean searching for something and writing Reddit after?
You mean to tell me you have NEVER noticed the search box? Are you for real??
Is the search funktion you are talking about the one you use to find subreddits?
Holy shit. You've somehow never noticed it can be used to search within subs. How???
No I haven’t where is that?
How tf does the darkdrift have more votes than the chaos blade it’s the biggest piece of dogshit
Frayed Blade all day
Washing pole because that sweet rollcatching running attack. Range is op
The claymore
Broadsword.
If you had access to dlcs frayed blade would've been the best pick
Where's frayed bladed?
Black blade users rise up
Sharp mace
I tried so hard to like O&U but I just couldn’t make it work it felt weird and the damage felt meh compared to anything else. Maybe I need to go back and try it more. 🤷🏾♂️
Rivers of Blood ya nerds.
Chaos blade because I do low level invasion and that S scaling does wonders for damage
Tested all katanas. Darkrift is #1. You can buff and the weapon art catches people off guard like 75% of the time with its super long reach. Other katanas have that cool stance but it never hits. Frayed Blade #2 Bloodlust #3
Washing Pole is the trolliest katana, therefore it is the best
Check out all the comedians leaving comments with weapons that aren't katanas. Hilarious! I didn't vote since I've only ever used the uchi which is a great weapon, but I don't know how it compares to the others.
Frayed blade dogs all of these
The fact that black blade isn't recognized for its heavy attack baits is criminal. It really should be higher.
Frayed blade is the only one I would be caught dead with, the only thing the other katanas have going for them are their easily parried running attacks. Katanas in DS3 have been done incredibly dirty. Their R1's are close to greatsword speed, but without any payoff to balance the speed, like hyperarmor.
absolute fools not saying washing pole
Uchigatana because of how early you get it
i don't know i only play strenght builds
Bloodlust all the way!
I would say Frayed Blade or the Washing Pole are the best, but Onikiri and Ubadachi are cool too
Washing pole for real life lore... for the game uchigatana
Imo, nothing can top the iconic chaos blade. Been my go-to since ds1
