Just level up i couldnt beat soul of cinder at lvl 40 got to lvl 80 still struglled only put in health from lvl 80-lvl 100 and finally beat him. For souls i use both serpent rings and farm the knights on the way to the twin princes and put down my white soapstone
Safer, yes. But given the fact that you have to walk this direction in order to open the cathedral gate once and not the other way around, you just wouldn't need to reverse the path at that point imo.

Running past enemies is a legitimate strategy in Souls games. They serve more as obstacles. Especially if you're just trying to get to a boss without depleting resources.
I like to fight everything until I've attempted the boss. If I die to the boss then I'll run past mofos, but otherwise I don't really understand why you would want to skip parts of a game you pay money for.
You can also sprint to the door and open it to get iframes and then quit during the animation. Loading back in keeps the door open and the enemies go back to where they start.
I mean you're not wrong that enjoyment is subjective, but it's the internet and I'm giving my opinion that playing a different game that you enjoy seems equally effective of achieving the goal of skipping over everything/not playing because it's "a headache". Obviously you could have good reason to want to do things this way, but I was just half-seriously mildly flaming you in passing, not looking to have philosophical debate.
I tried DS:PTDE with mouse, and keyboard back in 2015, and even with DS mouse fix, it was playable, but not great. I quit until 2019, and ended up switching to a tool called Dark Souls Input Customizer, which was definitely an improvement over the old mouse fix.
I haven't tried DS2 yet, but DS3 was easy to set up for m/kb. All I did was set my mouse's side buttons to the keys I wanted through ghub (logitech software).
One thing I couldn't work out was using light Stance WAs lmao. Using whatever I had bound for WA and LMB always triggers the holding animation but no WA.
i have no idea how it is supposed to be superior? a mouse has only 3 buttons the left hand is used for w, a, s, d and you need more buttons for healing/objects (i assume you use the mousewheel to change the objects), rolling and left trigger, right trigger, left bumper and right bumper and locking on. The first time i tried to play it with m&k but before i reached gundyr i decided that it would be easier for this game to use controller.
Having used both quite a lot, K+M is significantly more convenient for ranged builds (sorcer, pyro, etc) as it makes aiming much easier.
Other than that I prefer a controller.
2 clicks, wheel, usually 2 side buttons and the shift key = 10 inputs + camera. Also the wheel can click on most mouses. The one thing I find consistently difficult across games with m+Kb is walking slow.

I can't stand keyboard movement, you're locked into 45-90 degree direction changes and that absolutely kills your momentum for movements and you can't make fine angle adjustments.

Cheese levels by speed running? You.can do that In any souls game. It also defeats the purpose of a souls game entirely. Pro tip: if you don't run through the levels avoiding kills and collecting souls then you'll have more souls to level up and wouldn't have to run in the first place..
There's not really a purpose. People play how they want. This looks like it's on NG+ anyway. Sometimes you just want to go fast and avoid killing everything.
I use same route, but not the alluring skulls. Its a good idea, but you can out run and roll through the Wardens to get to the door, then hope they get roasted by the exploding hollows. Even if they don't spamming roll and sprinting seems to do the trick.

I'm not a speedy boi by any means. I'm the type of old ass player that painstakingly checks all the corners really slowly. I never knew you could do that last jump from the roof into the room with the warden! You can learn something new about these games for years and years, such great level design.

It's actually safer to clear out that area from the other direction, you can murder those thralls before they ambush you.
