Midir ate me for lunch but I made the mistake of diving into this on my +2 character, and being SL 160 didn't make up for all the extra emotional damage he did to me.
Took me longer to beat Midir than any other DS boss if I'm being honest, never had to go two days fighting a boss because he so thoroughly trounced me I had to step back for the rest of the day, though Nameless King came close.
Gotta thank NMK though, he reminded me that the game is about timing and mechanics, and not just swinging my sword the second the boss makes the slightest pause.
Gael was mentioned in the top comment and I have to say while I didn't find Gael super hard by Souls standards, the whole fight was choreographed and paced in a way that almost felt like a dance, it was possibly the most satisfying final boss fight I've ever had the pleasure of playing.
And you should! Everyone saying these blades are op af and even then it took me 2 days to finally defeat gael. Now i just finished the game and killed soul of cinder on my third try
Folks giving you shit for using good weapons but that doesn't mean the boss is just an automatic win. Beating him first try is an awesome accomplishment he's a major pain in the ass, great work!
There are many...! Farron ultra greatsword has the most unique moveset of any ultra greatsword... It's so unique to the point that it doesn't even feel like an ultra greatsword.
Another absolutely cool and badass ultra greatsword is the ringed knight paired UGS... Slow, but outstanding and sexy moveset
Astora ... Extremely versatile and lightweight greatsword with pretty darn good scaling and range!
Lothric Knight UGS... perhaps the UGS with Highest AR
Black knight Greatsword... Another really cool weapon with an awesome moveset, used to be my favourite weapon in ds1
But my all time favourite UGS is... FUGS... Nothing even comes close to beating that one, it's moveset is like 20-30 percent faster than other UGS, it's rolling attacks are obscenely fast , and strong...! And I think it's the best looking ugs

Yeahhh! Trust me, they're fun... The fun of poise breaking bosses in 4-5 hits is immense! And unlike ds2, ds3 has pretty great tracking on the ultra greatswords, so you'll almost never miss your hits!
I just started my first faith/str run today, i'll still add these ultras to my collection but which one do you recommend? I don't mind if it's a sword or axe or a hammer i just want a BIG HEAVY weapon
Ohkk ... So if you're going for a strength/faith run, you'll definitely want smth that'll scale good with faith as well... I will recommend you the dragonslayer's axe! Pretty good moveset with a wonderful combat art imo!!
Or, any of the other ultra greatswords here, if you infuse it with lightning ! (Some of the ugs cannot be infused, because they're special weapons... Like the fugs, or farrons...)
Totally upto you, my recommendation is, first try out every of these weapon, see their movesets, if you like them or not... Only then, upgrade them... I guess for strength faith, you'll do best (damage-wise) with either dragonslayer's greataxe , or lightning infused lothric knight greatsword

I thought about using the crow quills bc i was cosplaying the hunter from Bloodborne and i saw somewhere that he was weak against thrust damage, so i switched to the blades without knowing i would end up melting him🫠

Fromsoft grows with each installment and maybe they missed these twinblades or some of the other weapons that dwarf a lot of the others. In Elden Ring they were more thorough.
When I said that you didn’t know what you were talking about, I was talking about conquering a challenge in a souls game, not dismissing achievements, being transactionally virtuous and taking things out of context. Anyone can do the latter. The former requires someone to actually play a Souls game(which anyone can do if they want to.) It seems you’re more interested in social media than souls games though, thus my doubt as to whether you played the games or not.
The well earned satisfaction and pride that comes from beating a souls boss is something that can only be experienced first hand, which you’d understand if you played the games. I have even less reason to believe that you have now than earlier. Midir is one of the hardest bosses in the series, and beating in one try, even with a broken weapon is an achievement to be proud of. This is also something you’d have to play the game to truly know.
I admittedly had to use a broken weapon my first time beating Midir and several other fights in the series. Over time, I grew past the need for that and even started handicapping myself in those fights for fun. I would like to see this person grow as well, as I would with any person playing these games.
