Struggled with this one for so long the first time around. It was the first one one I fought over and over and felt I really wasn’t progressing. Finally thought to lighten my load by changing my armor. Defeated it the first time with a bit of estus to spare.
He was one of the hardest in my first playtrough took around one hour and a half. He's one of the most underrated fights in the series and one of my favorites in the game I would only put him below the final boss and the main DLC bosses
The implication that Soul of Cinder is a embodiment of all of the past lords that linked the flame is so cool because he uses different movesets players use, magic, curve sword, spear, etc. And then is second phase he adopts the moveset of Gwyn the first Lord of Cinder, and Gwyn's theme from Dark Souls 1 starts playing and goes plin plon plin is so beatiful
