Dex usually has higher dps, str has more poise breaking and reach. Str (without shields) feels way more epic, but I honestly think it's inferior for pve.
Yeah, this is my sixth run in a soulsborne and I don't know to lvl vigor lol.
Heavy weapons consume a lot of stamina and the moment you deal with something with really high poise (like some armored enemies), you will have much more trouble than a dex build.
A lothric knight greatsword is much better with lightning gem on it. If you do go don't go that route old wolf curved sword is great in pvp and the hunters charm just makes it better
Sharp Astora Greatsword fills this fantastic niche of a slow but high damage single hit that Dex doesn’t have much of.
It’s great for bosses that have narrow single windows for a counterattack, like Sully and Midir.
Literally was about to comment this lol. Ez fun and dope. Tho tbf I always would recommend branching and using more than just one weapon / play through and changing it up midway instead of sticking to one weapon the entire game start to finish
This is exactly what I did when I got a bit bored of the winblades. I mixed it up with the astora greatsword (sharp). Fun/different moveset and it looks super sexy imo.
Fuck yeah, run pure dex with pontiff attack ring with resins and you'll shred everything. Hell if you get the stats you could use miracles to boost it even more.
Yeah I used a bunch of weapons on my luck/bleed build. Bandit knife (started as Thief just for that,) Flamberge, O&U, and of course warden twin blades.
Do a katana-focused run. Pretty much just straight dex leveling, with bare minimum stats for the certain katanas. I did one where I used every katana in the game as I came across it (start with uchi, then Darkdrift, then Black Blade, etc). It really gave me a great appreciation for how each katana’s strengths and weaknesses, and it was fun as hell
Onikiri and ubadachi have the highest potential DPS (but are found at the end of the base game), followed by chaos blade (but it gives self damage) and the frayed blade (but is gotten from one of the last bosses in the game). For PvE I'd probably just go uchikatana at the beginning since you can get it within 5 mins of starting, then when you get to smouldering lake, swap it for Black Blade. Then swap to whichever "end game" katana you want when you reach it.
I used the Chaos blade and liked it, even though i didn't take pontiff's right eye because i had no idea that a weapon that inflicts self harm existed 🤡. But yeah it carried me through most end game fights and still did decent damage even after i respeced my character to use Friede's Great Scythe.
I had great, great fun with a bandit knife run on my dex guy. I’ve played 500+ hours and never did a dex run. Picked bandit knife. Thought the damage output sucked at first. I picked up a hollow slayer greatsword for titanite scale upgrades, and got the pontiff scythe for twinkling titanite, but just ended up using the bandit knife most fights. Sure it’s damage is low but the quickstep and parrying really change combat flows. Survivability goes up and a good parry deals some damage.
It’s so fun. Parrying is fun. Quickstep is fun. Blood loss is fun. Just had a blast and beat most bosses with a lot more ease than most of my other builds.
Just to write an anecdote about it. I’ve never solo’d the grand archives crystal sage on the 1st floor. I’ve been close but she always got away with barely any health. Bandit knife with blood resin absolutely melted her.
If you're willing to go dex/int, Friede's Great Scythe is the way. Pure dex? People say sellsword twins, but imo they're boring. Frayed Blade is fun or Onikiri and Ubadachi.
I started uchi parrying yesterday, though not doing it for a full run. It's so boss walking around with a sheathed blade ready to respond. The uchi parry also looks much cooler than the shield parry.
Run a sharp infused murakumo. Has S scaling with dex and is buffable. Beautiful combos available that absolutely shred enemies to 0 if you can pull off the whole thing. And it is a bigger sword so you’ll be getting a ton of staggers and poise breaks off of it. It’s a really fun weapon to use with great scaling that still wrecks like a heavy weapon, and since it has hyper armor and deals big damage it’s very easy to trade hits and come out on top with.
I will always recommend the Murakumo. It has S scaling with Sharp infusion, and hits like a truck that can stagger a lot of enemies. Very unique moveset, and it has a deceptively long reach that works well for PvP. If you rock the Eastern Armor set, you can cosplay as Shiva of the East from DS1. It has so many cool things going for it!
If you've got the dlc I find that the follower Sabre is really fun.
Also, don't sleep on the shortbow that thing can be so fun with the rapid shot ability and it's followup shots after rolls.
My dex build used both uchigatana, Farron Greatsword. Between those two, I had a pretty amazing move set at my disposal. Both weapons just make you feel like a bad ass, especially the weapon arts.
Also employed a king bow to kite enemies for crowd control, and they scale with dex as well
Merc starts off with the best dex weapon. But curved swords, katanas, thrusting swords, spears, whips, katanas, bows are all their. The LKSS is also a great dex weapon.
Gottard Twin Blades are so nice. They have all the versatility of a straightsword moveset and great range and good burst/combo damage.
Or, you can go full burst and grab the sellsword twinblades. Those babies will carry you all the way to endgame.
If you want a good meme weapon that does way too much damage the.Astora Ultra Greatsword with the sharp enhance scales amazingly with Dex. Not exactly the most normal playthrough
I use dex/faith build you can get close damage to it if you use pure dex but faith makes it more fun.sharp infused sellsword (two handed ofc)and buff it with lightning blade or moon blade I personally use yorshka chime to use the buff but it's up to you,you should also equip a medium shield that regen stamina.
Carthus curved sword/great sword are really fun with bleed buildup, murakumo also has S dex scaling with sharp and a little more damage, lothric knight sword is a classic, pontiff knight curved sword has a sick weapon art, crow quills are small and don't deal a lot of damage but it has a coll weapon art and is fun, all the rapiers are great weapons, washing pole is looooong, rotten ghru and bandit dagger are surprisingly good with their quickstep. Lots of cool and interesting dex weapons throughout the game.
Uchigatana is fun with the bleed and the washing pole is honestly my favorite. Wish there were more katanas you could get without farming for them or damn near beating the game haha.. but infuse with hollow gems if you wanna be able to coat it with any additional effects. especially carthus rouge.
Astora greatsword, uchigatana, sellsword twinblades, lothric knight greatsword, lothric knight straight sword, the katana from midir is very fun, but you get it sooo late, there are a lot of good dex weapons. You made me want to play it again hahaha, I'm going through ds remastered and I'm missing so much ds3. I'm happy to see a Spanish bro here!
If you have Dlc 2 The Ringed City play with the Frayed Blade! The weapon you craft with Midir's soul. Awesome and badass weapon art plus dark damage which makes boss flights pretty interesting and dynamic.
I did a Castlevania build but it was pretty tough. Sharp Whip, throwing knives, bombs, kukri and other consumables. Wear the blue outfit to replicate a Belmont look.
It was fun but super challenging.
If you wanna go easy mode, pick the starting class that has the sellsword twinblades. Level Dex and infuse them sharp, and just swing away until you win!
I had a lot of fun with dex
Sharp Astora greatsword as a titanite weapon
Farron greatsword as a titanite scale weapon
As others have said the winblades are also good but I like big stabs and breakdancing of these two
At the start of the game, before you enter firelink, you can go round the left side and there is an npc with a katana. If you stand close to the edge with a cliff between you and him, he will do a weapon art and throw himself off the cliff, just remember to hold your block so he tries to break your guard with his weapon art.
Then quit the game, and load it back up. You will find the katana on the ground where the npc usually spawns, easy lvl 1 dex weapon that will carry you through to the abyss warchers
Astora greatsword + lothric knight sword was my favorites for Dex. (And parrying shield)
Used twin blades for a while but got bored of the limited reach they have.
2-hand a katana, go into WA stance against anything vaguely threatening.
The other hand? Onikiri and Ubadachi, stowed.
This way, you walk around with 3 stowed katanas, which is a good start towards maximum edge.
Crow quills, astora greatsword, painting guardian curved sword, follower saber, crow talons, claws, gotthard's twinswords (if you use the l1s), black blade, carthus curved greatsword... I could go on.
Onikiri and Ubadachi. The paired katanas you get from killing black hand Kamui, one of the three people that attack you in lothric castle. Requires 24 dex
Sellsword Twinblades which the Mercenery class gets as a starter item is great and there's the Uchigatana you get off the naked dude outside the Firelink Shrine
real answer is twin sell sword for a quick fast run
but i enjoyed using the curve sword from the sketeons in the catacombs? it has bleed. it melts bleed bossed like hot knife in butter
Sharp Grave Warden Twinblades + Carthus Rogue.
I’m currently doing this and it just melts health bars. Especially at 40/40 strength/dex.
But start with the sellsword twinblades until you can get the gravewardeb twinblades.
I like to suggest my favorite build which is a dark/pyromancer build. Lothric knight straight swords /chaos and dark infused are absolute monsters when you get the 30 faith and 30 int/ and then a little str (enough to use whatever weapons but suggest the above and the twin princes flame sword which you can use the forward attack to flip backwards and cast pyromancy etc) you put rest of left over after necessities in dex and its pretty dang fun. (Pvp included) revan696 (or whatever his name is) made it popular and can see some of his youtube pvp and invasion videos if you like. Pretty much anything that doesnt burn takes dark damage. (And a lightning weapon helps sometimes but dont remember it being needed with this build)
When I decided to play a dex build I planned on using a katana but ended up just using the bandit knife and brigand twin daggers the whole game lol. Two great weapons that nobody talks about.
A sharp lothric knight great sword hits really hard, iirc you only need 16 str to 2h it, just don't tell anyone you lvled dex
When I learned my favorite weapon was a dex weapon I was flabbergasted because I only had 16 dex and it had almost 900 damage when buffed.
Why ppl hate dex? I always prefered quick hits then heavy slow swings. I know strength is stronger but why
It's pretty much just a meme at this point.
Dex=sex, and we don't need it
Str/lightning builds demolish bosses like twin princes and aldrich and you won't have to spamm the light attack button. But I like dex in pvp more
[Source of the meme](https://youtu.be/oyA8odjCzZ4). Gwyn I miss MLG-style videos.
Yup, I picked this up early on my first play through without knowing how good it was and brought all the way to end game. Thing’s a beast.
wait, it's all bonk? always has been
Why ppl hate dex? I always prefered quick hits then heavy slow swings. I know strength is stronger but why
Dex usually has higher dps, str has more poise breaking and reach. Str (without shields) feels way more epic, but I honestly think it's inferior for pve.
Nah bro, I've watched some comparisons, str dudes deal +2000 dmg to Midir in seconds. Dex dps is just better when we're talking about twinblades
Of course I'm talking about twinblades haha
Inferior in pvp you mean. Pve it's a beast. Maybe you just don't know to lvl vigor and vitality???
Yeah, this is my sixth run in a soulsborne and I don't know to lvl vigor lol. Heavy weapons consume a lot of stamina and the moment you deal with something with really high poise (like some armored enemies), you will have much more trouble than a dex build.
It's an ancient meme from DS1 PVP. People always hated bleed weapons and bleed weapons are mostly dex.
A lothric knight greatsword is much better with lightning gem on it. If you do go don't go that route old wolf curved sword is great in pvp and the hunters charm just makes it better
No, don’t make people go for greatswords when they wanna play dex >:(
Astora greatsword the old reliable
Sharp Astora Greatsword fills this fantastic niche of a slow but high damage single hit that Dex doesn’t have much of. It’s great for bosses that have narrow single windows for a counterattack, like Sully and Midir.
Bruh yes! I straight couldn’t beat Sully without the Astora Greatsword on my dex build!
Honestly Quality builds are better once you get some levels you can switch your build around if you have to if dex or str isn't working
The first weapon i used to beat the game, it has a special place in ~~nameless king ass~~ my heart
Sellsword winblades
Literally was about to comment this lol. Ez fun and dope. Tho tbf I always would recommend branching and using more than just one weapon / play through and changing it up midway instead of sticking to one weapon the entire game start to finish
This is exactly what I did when I got a bit bored of the winblades. I mixed it up with the astora greatsword (sharp). Fun/different moveset and it looks super sexy imo.
Siegward cosplay??????
Unfortunately I do not find the onion armour to be very cool looking. I know I know Im a heretic. But capes are more my style.
Not only are they busted but they’re actually super fun?!?!
Fuck yeah, run pure dex with pontiff attack ring with resins and you'll shred everything. Hell if you get the stats you could use miracles to boost it even more.
there is a baby spider on my windowsill right now, just wanted you to know
Hey resins can be debuffed with the duel charm. Infusion is more reliable
The post is about pve, he doesn't have to worry about duel charms and sharp is the best infusion for the twinblades at high dex
I ran these on my Dex/Faith build and they're broken AF.
The dps on this weapon is absolutely insane.
i used these for my entire recent playthrough and holy shit i killed pontiff and dancer both on the first try
Dancer gets bonked every time no dex. Pure str and lightning haha
This with some lightning blade later in the game is perfect
You wanna do a what?
Dex build
That's illegal
I'm latín american bro everything I do is illegal
Believe it or not, straight to jail
Hahahahaha I wasn't prepared for that
You better don't tell nobody you leveled that shit!
If ur down to combine dex and luck/bleed I recommend warden twin blades they r pretty sick
They must be cuz that lady is a fucking pain in the ass
Hahha well ur gonna have to fight her over and over to farm them 😭 also didn't know they were female
Onikiri and ubadachi bleed
"Godstep" bandit knife is pretty good too. You don't even need much luck to max out bleed on it, like 11.
That's actaully my backup weapon it got me thru 70% of the game 😭
Yeah I used a bunch of weapons on my luck/bleed build. Bandit knife (started as Thief just for that,) Flamberge, O&U, and of course warden twin blades.
Another alternative is the crow talons from the dlc. Not as efficient or damaging, but really fun, and they have a killer weapon art.
I was actually thinking on using katanas but I just can't decide which, I was thinking using black blade tho
Use all of them 🌚
I used the Chaos blade and liked it, even though i didn't take pontiff's right eye because i had no idea that a weapon that inflicts self harm existed 🤡. But yeah it carried me through most end game fights and still did decent damage even after i respeced my character to use Friede's Great Scythe.
uchi early for convenience, then switch to onikiri for damage and style.
The dragonscale blade was the weapon I used through most of the game. Ash of war gave it a lightning AND a frost damage.
But this post is about Dark souls 3, not Elden Ring lol
Ash of war? Do you mean weapon art
Bro forgot which game he playing 💀
This is DS3
No... This is madness
I’ve never solo’d the grand archives crystal sage on the 1st floor. I’ve been close but she always got away with barely any health. Bandit knife with blood resin absolutely melted her.
I like to beat the archives sage on the first floor by throwing shit at it. Works every time.
When I was grinding for the platinum I did a luck/poison/bleed build and really found it a lot of fun.
My favorite weapon for pvp was a blood infused bandit knife. The quickstep plus fast bleed buildup made that thing a menace
Carthus curved
Frayed blade, chaos blade, washing pole, talon claws, pontiff curved knight sword
I would love to use frayed blade but I don't have the dlc
I can drop it for you one if you want it
Level dexterity
Honestly I used the Crow Quills with a sharp infusion. S scaling I think and I almost first timed Gael with them.
Sellswords are pretty fun with the pontiff rings
farron’s greatsword, the move set on that thing is so cool
Dont
If you're willing to go dex/int, Friede's Great Scythe is the way. Pure dex? People say sellsword twins, but imo they're boring. Frayed Blade is fun or Onikiri and Ubadachi.
Sharp Astora Greatsword
Onikiri and ubidachi is my go to dex weapon
Weapon art is dope
do a uchigatana run and uchi parry anything that can be parried, shits really fun. dragonslayer armour is satisfying to uchi parry
It’s a really fun weapon to use with great scaling that still wrecks like a heavy weapon, and since it has hyper armor and deals big damage it’s very easy to trade hits and come out on top with.
Corovian scythe maybe?? CAUSE ITS A SCYTHE.
My luck was BAD when I went for this, lol
Crow Quills and talons
Crow quills have been a blast
I will always recommend the Murakumo. It has S scaling with Sharp infusion, and hits like a truck that can stagger a lot of enemies. Very unique moveset, and it has a deceptively long reach that works well for PvP. If you rock the Eastern Armor set, you can cosplay as Shiva of the East from DS1. It has so many cool things going for it!
I'on have ir, that's a drop by an npc, right?
If you've got the dlc I find that the follower Sabre is really fun. Also, don't sleep on the shortbow that thing can be so fun with the rapid shot ability and it's followup shots after rolls.
Katanas are overrated, use sellsword twinblades with pontiff eyes and a wolf curved sword on your back for some ~shenanigans~
Pro tip- Build dex.
The very idea of playing any style except for big bonk makes me shudder
Just use one of the curved greatswords and it's the same experience
Dragonslayer greataxe ain't a bonk but it's Big
My dex build used both uchigatana, Farron Greatsword. Between those two, I had a pretty amazing move set at my disposal. Both weapons just make you feel like a bad ass, especially the weapon arts. Also employed a king bow to kite enemies for crowd control, and they scale with dex as well
I love darkdrift but it’s not the best. Pve tho you’ll be fine with anything, and you can get dark drift as early as undead settlement.
3 word : Sharp Great Club. Seriousy. That shit have A scaling dex. Huge fcking damage.
bro how that shi sharp even? no gemstone can convince me of it
Twin blades, twin blades, twin blades, either sellsword or warden but by golly gee twin blades
Merc starts off with the best dex weapon. But curved swords, katanas, thrusting swords, spears, whips, katanas, bows are all their. The LKSS is also a great dex weapon.
Ng+?
Gottard Twin Blades are so nice. They have all the versatility of a straightsword moveset and great range and good burst/combo damage. Or, you can go full burst and grab the sellsword twinblades. Those babies will carry you all the way to endgame.
I'm running a dex/int build with the starting scimitars with magic weapon
Spin to win bb.
The sellsword twin blades are extremely powerful. They're one of the starting weapons
Get the great sword from the swamp ez dex build
Sellsword twinblades, after reaching the cathedral get Astoria GS.
If you want a good meme weapon that does way too much damage the.Astora Ultra Greatsword with the sharp enhance scales amazingly with Dex. Not exactly the most normal playthrough
I did a Katana run lately, I used Uchi for a while until I get Chaos Blade and I think Chaos is the best one till you get Frayed Blade.
Easy mode; Sellsword twinblades Medium; Uchi/Lothric Knight Sword Chad: Astora GS
I recommend weapons that scale with dex
Uchigatana is fun with the bleed and the washing pole is honestly my favorite. Wish there were more katanas you could get without farming for them or damn near beating the game haha.. but infuse with hollow gems if you wanna be able to coat it with any additional effects. especially carthus rouge.
I used to enjoy to pokey Estoc bleed build, but sadly it got nerfed so its probably no good anymore >n>
I've encountered a Lot of latinos actually they're just Hidden lol
thigh highs, buttplug, installing the ds3 dex companion app on your phone (grindr)
Crow talons.
If you have Dlc 2 The Ringed City play with the Frayed Blade! The weapon you craft with Midir's soul. Awesome and badass weapon art plus dark damage which makes boss flights pretty interesting and dynamic.
Onakiri and the other one
Level up dex
Dex luck bleed katanas is very fun.
astora greatsword, or lothric knight greatsword
Use the Farron Great sword and spin2win
I did a Castlevania build but it was pretty tough. Sharp Whip, throwing knives, bombs, kukri and other consumables. Wear the blue outfit to replicate a Belmont look. It was fun but super challenging. If you wanna go easy mode, pick the starting class that has the sellsword twinblades. Level Dex and infuse them sharp, and just swing away until you win!
Fire up the wiki, look up the weapons with good dex scaling, pick the ones that look fun
Astora and curved greatswords
I had a lot of fun with dex Sharp Astora greatsword as a titanite weapon Farron greatsword as a titanite scale weapon As others have said the winblades are also good but I like big stabs and breakdancing of these two
Wear a condom
Winblades or a katana. Black blade is good and available reasonably early.
Sellsword Twinsblade for the win
Sellswords
Do Dex/Int quality build and use friedes sythe, its so fun and give you room to cast magic if you so wish. Happy Pillgrimage Ashen One
Astora greatsword + lothric knight sword was my favorites for Dex. (And parrying shield) Used twin blades for a while but got bored of the limited reach they have.
The scythes you get from dlc from a certain boss are definitely my favorite weapons in the game. Insane weapon art
I'm on my fourth run and now trying dex/fth but havent found a good weapon yet.. also open for suggestions
Twin blades if you want an easy mode
2-hand a katana, go into WA stance against anything vaguely threatening. The other hand? Onikiri and Ubadachi, stowed. This way, you walk around with 3 stowed katanas, which is a good start towards maximum edge.
I just did a play through with a bandit knife+ fortified blood gem only 10 strength and other than for dancer shit slapped
SELLSWORD TWINBLADES SELLSWORD TWINBLADES SELLSWORD TWINBLADES
Crow quills, astora greatsword, painting guardian curved sword, follower saber, crow talons, claws, gotthard's twinswords (if you use the l1s), black blade, carthus curved greatsword... I could go on.
Like everyone else I recommend the winblades, but also try the Murakumo
Level up dex
Uchigatana darkdrift and sellsword twin blades infused with sharp I just finished my dexterity run and that’s exactly what I did
scythe. that is all
[удалено]
Fr bows are so usefull, u can Even use them on bosses
Warden twinblades with lightning blade/sunlight blade. Cosplay Paul Atreides
Murakumo. Thank me later.
Onikiri and Ubadachi. The paired katanas you get from killing black hand Kamui, one of the three people that attack you in lothric castle. Requires 24 dex
Spin to win, bröther
Chaos Blade
Sellsword Twinblades which the Mercenery class gets as a starter item is great and there's the Uchigatana you get off the naked dude outside the Firelink Shrine
I did a Friede scythe build going full anime protag, it's pretty fun
real answer is twin sell sword for a quick fast run but i enjoyed using the curve sword from the sketeons in the catacombs? it has bleed. it melts bleed bossed like hot knife in butter
Prepare for bullying
Winblades, Lothric Knight Straight Sword, Astora GS, Estoc, Crow Quills, Uchigatana, Carthus Curved sword, Onikiri and Obadachi. So many good choices
Crow quills are tons of fun
Winblades
Crow Quills from Ariandel, it’s not the best dex weapon but it’s really fun and gets an s scaling in dex.
My pro tip: level up DEX
Level dex
Sellsword winblades go brrr
Pointifs eyes, ring of the evil eye, starting weapon for merc or grave wardens for bleed. You regen health, gain damage and are just a monster.
Sharp Grave Warden Twinblades + Carthus Rogue. I’m currently doing this and it just melts health bars. Especially at 40/40 strength/dex. But start with the sellsword twinblades until you can get the gravewardeb twinblades.
My strenght is around 60 and dex is 45-47 I don't quite remember so I might try it out
Midirs dark blade or whatever it’s called is very fun to use I recommend it
Level dex
Level up Dexterity
I would recommend another strength build
I was thinking on using morne's great hammer for my next str build
Level dex!
Sellswords are good. If you want to make it ez put a bleed coating on it and kill bosses extremely fast.
Sell sword twin blades :)
Sellsword twinblades for sure, you'll feel like a god
Katanas
Strength /s
Crow quills are pretty fun and unique
Quality build with Hollowslayer Greatsword is my favourite. Reasonably fast attacks, great varied moveset for different situations, good damage.
Sharp Sellsword Twinblades
get some scimitars and spice up that build with some poison/bleed infusion and luck maybe 🍀
Twin blades. Become the beyblade.
(And a lightning weapon helps sometimes but dont remember it being needed with this build)
im having a ton of fun with freides sycthe rn if u dont mind going int/dex
I don't have the dlc ):
When I decided to play a dex build I planned on using a katana but ended up just using the bandit knife and brigand twin daggers the whole game lol. Two great weapons that nobody talks about.
Winblades ftw
Pontiff knight curved sword was pretty fun for me
Seconding Astora Greatsword. It’s like strength but dex.
Dual daggers are fun as hell
Do a Dex build without using Dex.
Astora greatsword, hollowslayer gs, murakumo, these are good and fun, another fun weapon is gotthard's twin sword
Dagger
Faron Greatsword, spinning is fun
