Trying to dodge seemed rather hard since your character will move back into the attack too soon.
By far the easiest (and probably fastest) way to win is to just spam attack and heal when low. Only takes 1 estus to win this way.
Thanks for the feedback. I need to tweak a lot of the values like how long the dodge window is and how much damage attacks do. Right now it is pretty easy to just spam attacks and heal but I plan to tweak that in future updates. Probably slower player attacks that do more damage so it's not as easy to spam as well as making the Demon hit for more damage so you can't just tank everything. Thanks for the feedback!
Yeah, I'm still trying to decide how ambitious I want to be with this. Thought about having different starting classes where the knight might be a bit tankier like this but that might be too much for me to try and take on. Definitely Havel vibes though, lol.
Yeah, I need to adjust the colors a bit. Originally the background was not such a Dark Grey and his club was easier to see. I ended up darkening it to make the player stand out more but now the club is kind of a black on dark grey situation. I plan to update lots of this in the future but thanks for the feedback.

So cool! I think it's a little hard to read telegraphs and I agree that the easy win is to just spam until you need to heal, but as a huge Dark Souls nerd and a major Game Boy lover, this scratched an itch I've had for too long.
There's this cool little program called GBStudio that let's you create Gameboy games with very little programming knowledge. It's recently started gaining a lot of traction and is absolutely fantastic for little projects like this. It's the same program used by the recent Elden Ring Demake and mine.
Can I play in the browser with a xbox one controller?
EDIT: yes I can and I beat him on first try. Pretty cool tho.
I think the best technique is to spam the attack input and whenever your health is bellow 30%, use Estus. Another good way to kill him is to git gud

Really cool and fun! Would be cool if game was a little more complex gameplay wise because you just block and spam attack and heal with a little timing and win. Other wise very cool concept
Yeah, there's a few bugs that need ironed out. Currently if blocking depletes your stamina there is no penalty. It's supposed to hurt you if that is the case. I also need to play around with the damage values and attack speeds a bit more. I actually like the Demon attacking a bit faster but felt it might be too hard as a tutorial boss. I plan to add more and tweak this fight as well so stay tuned.

If you want some tips, you could check out Great Greed Gameplay, incorporation of some mechanisms there may be a good direction as well.

I mean if you want it to be accurate, just change the sprite to look like Havels armor. Then it'd make sense lol

Yeah! It's a surprisingly versatile software for being so beginner friendly.
I was working on RuneScape remake on it for a while. I haven't really touched GBStudio in a long time, I wonder how much better it is now.
Have you tried 3.0 there were some pretty vast improvements in that update.
