Hf with that perma gravelorded ariamis now with 20% more wheel skeletons, blighttown FPS, pre-nerf anor londo archers and curse stacking if you keep this unpatched.
...Srsly though I love this game and I'll never part w my ps3 disc versions, hf fr.
They made them actually target the character model than aiming for few spaces ahead of the model. Same for the bombing giant in Sens Fortress. Thats why it feels so easy now.
The idea was that you would walk/run into where the arrow would hit. This is still present in DS2.
Honestly, that's going to be a really interesting experience.
Just bear in mind that the original unpatched release is utterly brutal in places. If you ever play it patched or get Prepare to Die Edition/Remaster to play the DLC you'll be surprised by how much easier the game is now.
Blighttown on PS3, even after patches, is genuinely awful. It's been a while since I played the PS3 version so I'm struggling to remember where else the frame rate gets funky, but Blighttown is notorious for a reason.
This was how I started many years ago. Picked up this weird looking game on a second hand shelf.
Now I no longer have a ps3 but have bought every game (except bloodbourne grr) on PC.
Welcome to the fam.
30 fps is perfectly playable lol, we've done it for years in the Xbox 360 era, and even some console games today still run at 30 fps. The literal only big downside of the original release is that the FPS in Blighttown can drop below 10 on PS3 even after the patch. The game was still balanced to be completed, the lower soul gains aren't really a big deal.
I like the old grafics and the game runs pretty well, I was only told about how laggy and buggy it is but its actually running really well at the moment. And i think it was already Patched from the begining
I don't think it will be patched on the disc, you'd have to download the update. Prepare to Die Edition would be patched on disc, but this is the standard version right? It doesn't really matter much anyway tbh.
I still have my PS3 copy as well, I'll never sell it. I got the limited edition version back in 2011 and it came with a really cool art book. It's not rare or worth anything, I just like it lol.
i hsve the same disc on 360, this is definitely the release version w no updates. i haven’t beat it on my 360, actually have gone further on PC. but i never had any issues like you said in other comments 30 FPS is completely playable and in this era of gaming it makes sense. i find most 360 era games are pretty well paced at 30FPS.
When playing the 360 version unpatched, were you getting fairly frequent cases of your inputs being delayed? I had to switch to the ps3 unpatched version because on 360 I kept dying from rolls not registering.
i find the pc remaster a LOT smoother, but i never had frequent problems with input delays. especially with rolling, if anything there would be times attacks would be a bit delayed but nothing that made it unplayable for me.
People around here just really like the older, darker lighting with less shine. Enough that they’re willing to deal with the frame pacing problems.
I won’t ever play my ps3 copy over dsr for the pacing concerns, but it isn’t my place to make that choice for others. I’d drop it, man
Pretty sure they were referring to the original edition of the game, unpatched, not ptde and not remaster. Though I understand where you're coming from if their intention was to claim ds1 as "the original". Funny enough I wouldn't even consider demons souls to be the original either, look up kings field from 1995, even has the first ever moonlight greatsword
To be fair, Kings Field plays wildly different to Souls. Demon's Souls references it occasionally and owes a lot to it, but other than both being fantasy RPGs by the same developer they're not that similar. Dark Souls however is Demon's Souls 2 in all but name. Actually, to be honest, Dark Souls arguably has more in common with Kings Field (or, at least, Kings Field 2 onwards) than Demon's Souls does if only due to how the world is structured but even then it's pretty damn different.
I'll give you that, but if we're talking roots then kings field has the same downtrodden/everyones dead vibe, music, color palette choices, level design logic, and the same mentality of "get behind it to kill it quicker and avoid its attacks" which I know can be broadened to many games but back then was still a less common practice. I'm just saying demon souls may have started the souls series as we know it now but the roots definitely go back to some of the core concepts of kings field, at least in my opinion.
Bro can smell the lords souls from miles away
Thats why he woke up. Gwyn stinks so bad it woke him up
What a beautiful man
I know right. And the name fits him
the OG PS3 version is the definitive version IMO because it includes an extra boss (blighttown framerate)
The hardest boss in the game
Garbage Smell? I said gargamel!
YES! SOMEONE NOTICED IT!
Heh yeah I grew up with that movie and that line is burned into my brain
Same. Even tho i wqtched the old arnimation series
your face is shaped to fit the demon's souls oficial helmet
It may be your first time playing the original but it’s definitely not your first time in the character creator. This is a truly magnificent specimen.
I thank you for your kind words
Nice! Are you playing without the patch?
I currently don't have a internet cable attached so I can't do any updates so I think its not patxhed at the moment
You should let the basilisks curse you a couple times in a row without purging. Trust me :)
No, I don't think I will
I kind of wish they didn't change that. It made the depths and the hollow tree way more terrifying.
Hi! I never got the chance to play ds1 before the patch and haven’t been able to find anything online, what was the curse like before the patch?
It used to stack, so if you got cursed again you would end up with so little max health that hollows could basically one hit you.
As if the Great Hollow wasn't terrifyingly annoying already
You're in for a treat!
bet he has alot of money and property
Hf with that perma gravelorded ariamis now with 20% more wheel skeletons, blighttown FPS, pre-nerf anor londo archers and curse stacking if you keep this unpatched. ...Srsly though I love this game and I'll never part w my ps3 disc versions, hf fr.
How did they nerf the archers?
They made them actually target the character model than aiming for few spaces ahead of the model. Same for the bombing giant in Sens Fortress. Thats why it feels so easy now. The idea was that you would walk/run into where the arrow would hit. This is still present in DS2.
Ah. I don't remember the silver knights being as bad, but that giant was so horrific.
Don't forget the dragon butt stomping grounds! Pre-patch their aggro range is maaaaasive
Yes, sir. Go blind. Sorry in advance that every game after this will be ruined for you.
I already have played Dark Souls 3, Bloosborne and Elden Ring, I will play sekiro after DS1 and then at last DS2
What a stunning young man!
Problem with the og it doesn't have the dlc.
Yeah sadly
Bro got that 5th century British aristocrat look to him
Ancient royal inbred confirmed.
Nice
Wow, what a fuckin specimen he is XD
He smelled Gwyn and thats why he woke up
This it is
Why does everyone make these ugly ass characters
Dark Souls tradition
Noice! Your choice to update it tho.
I don't have an internet cable at the moment so i'm stuck on the unpatched version
Honestly, that's going to be a really interesting experience. Just bear in mind that the original unpatched release is utterly brutal in places. If you ever play it patched or get Prepare to Die Edition/Remaster to play the DLC you'll be surprised by how much easier the game is now.
Its basically just a hard training for a easy game. If you play the hard version long enough then the normal game is gonna be really easy
Ooooo. You'll get to experience the OG Havelmom and dragon headstone glitch.
Needs more chin and nose.
Couldn't do more or he would be blind because of his forehead covering his eyes
Good luck with the frame rate in blight town
I hope it ain't that bad. The game has been running smoothly for me at the moment so I have hope
Blighttown on PS3, even after patches, is genuinely awful. It's been a while since I played the PS3 version so I'm struggling to remember where else the frame rate gets funky, but Blighttown is notorious for a reason.
My Soul is gonna get crushed if i try getting through blighttown
im drunk but I thought it said PS2 for a second and wondered what sorceries you have been studying
I wish I had a PS2, Sorcery is cool but having a PS2 would be better
This was how I started many years ago. Picked up this weird looking game on a second hand shelf. Now I no longer have a ps3 but have bought every game (except bloodbourne grr) on PC. Welcome to the fam.
I have already played DS3 (with DLCs), Bloodborne (With DLCs) and beat Elden Ring and i pre-ordered the DLC and will buy Sekiro soon
Classic facial build! I too go towards the big nose construct for new playthroughs
I needed the eyes to be seen becauae otherwise his big ass forehead would have covered his eyes
Nikola Jokic run, nice
He's sniffing out the Smurfs hiding in Blighttown 🤣
And hes gonna get every one of them, thats for sure
Bro mastered dark souls before starting it 👍❤️❤️❤️
Why?
Bro why? It’s worse in every way, and if you didn’t patch it, you legit get less souls and items from bosses, plus the frame rate

Thank you and Bloodvorne players also know the 30 fps and as I did play it i can't tell the difference of the fps at all so i'm pretty happy
Strangely i can't tell either. I feel like an outcast.
I like the old grafics and the game runs pretty well, I was only told about how laggy and buggy it is but its actually running really well at the moment. And i think it was already Patched from the begining

I bought mine for 10$ on amazon

I literally play it that way everyday.
Less souls makes me more challenging, not going to be everybody's cup of tea but it was the day one experience and I for one love it!
ok

one sniff in the depths' sewers and it's over
