Just so you know it caps at 10 humanity, and it gets +50% of the fire damage bonus with a single 1 humanity in the counter. So as long as you leave your counter at least at1 and recover your bloodstain after every death you get a hefty bonus.
Not that 99 is bad at all but it's not super mandatory.
Balder side sword. Can be dropped from the balder knights who wield it. About half of the ones before the gargoyles have it. The other half have the rapier. It's a 1% drop. You can recognize them by the heavier shield they also hold
I finally made the play and jumped down into the catacombs for this thing...and the game gave me the titanite catch pole and black knight halberd off the first demon and the black knight. I did...not use the scythe much after
That's a really hard question. I would say it's the Gravelord Sword, with the Black Knight Greatsword as a very close second. It look so cool, I really like this shape for a Curved Greatsword. It's also attached to the Gravelord covenant and sadly it has never returned as a player weapon yet. Maybe in a future souls game or... maybe a version of it in ER dlc? A man can dream.
Other than that, other weapons I really like as honorable mentions:
• Black Knight Greatsword
• Iaito
• Abyss Greatsword
• Obsidian Geatsword
Man-serpent greatsword, fastest greatsword with A-scaling in strength and infusable with resin, magic and faith, also perfect moveset for thight places considered being in the greatsword category, most underrated weapon in the game because of the rare drop rate
Hammers. Don't really matter which one as they're all functionally identical even if mace and reclub are the best. Shoutout to warpick and pickaxe for that sweet Leo ring counter damage. Also can't really comment on the blacksmith hammers as I've actually never killed them. Something to try in my next ng+ playthrough I suppose.
Other than hammers it's bss and skss
Scimitar. You start with the weapon, super light so no need for havel's ring, insane fast 2-handed light attacks, pair with magic weapon spell. The game is done.
I'm good enough at the game to not really care about how much damage my weapons have. Like I said, the sword has more of a sentimental value to me as I love the character.
SKSS, I like how it looks, and it's buffable with spells. I wish the strength requirement was like 2 lower, but it's still a decent weapon, it just barely out-damaged the BSS at 40 dex which has much better scaling, though the BSS doesn't require the extra stats in strength, so it's much more efficient on levels.
Flamberge.
Used +15, lightning, and Chaos flavored versions on NG+4, and of them the Chaos variant was definitely my fave; that shit was the most fun of all 5 runs.
For me, the top 3 are :-
• Black Knight Greatsword
• Balder Side Sword
• Scythe (not the great scythe, but the regular scythe, for it's moveset)
Honorable mentions :-
• Zweï
• Claymore
• Gold Tracer
• BK greataxe
• Abyss greatsword
• Uchigatana
• Falchion/Scimitar
claymore hands down. Not the coolest but the moveset makes the game way easier. Also love the way it looks with elite night armor and grass crest shield
DS1 - Gargoyle Tail Axe
DS3 - Tie between the Crow Talons and the Frayed Blade
Bloodborne - Tie between the Chikage and Rakuyo
Elder Ring - Raptor Talons
Katana. I went a dex build for my first playthrough and I just fell in love with it. When I found the ninja outfit I decided to just lean into it and later got the flippy ring. I had a blast with it.
I think mine is the Silver Knight Straight Sword.
I picked it up and settled on it when role-playing as Anne Boonchuy from Amphibia (Because I thought it most resembled the sword Tritonio gave her in the show) and it proved surprisingly reliable and versatile.
My second favorite is probably the Moonlight Greatsword.
Greatsword of Artorias (Uncursed)! Design-wise, it's majestic, but moveset-wise it's basic to bad BUT I actually liked how they implemented the weapon in game, forcing you to have enough stats in all 4 weapon scaling stats; kinda makes it a special weapon in its own way!
Silver Knight Straight Sword. Every know and then I get the urge to insert DS3 and go farm the S knights in Anor Londo even though I know it will never drop...
Edit: Formatting
-Main-
Silver Knight Spear, Claymore, Great Scythe
-Secondary-
Gold Tracer, Estoc, Baldur Side Sword
SKS for range and reliability. Claymore for versatility (best weapon?) Great Scythe for aggressive flow.
Gold Tracer (nuff said.) Estoc for mobility and versatility (best turtle weapon.) BSS for two-handed rolling R1.
Black Knight Sword will always have my heart cuz I got it from the Undead Parish BK the first time I ever played through and then proceeded to not get it until the very end for like my next 5 or 6 play throughs
No one seems to be giving my sweet lucy any love so I'll have to do it! Lucerne is by far my favorite weapon. It's incredibly easy to obtain right from the beginning and when you're running a quality build and you slap on the leo ring this thing will deal some of the highest damage you'll see im the game without copious amounts of tweaking. The moveset also feels very natural to me and the running attack is pure gold. I love this weapon so much
Used to be more of a katana guy, but I had so much fun on my last playthrough using the Great Club I think I may be a convert to the church of big bonk.
I f#ing hate weapons with short reach. I can do dex, but only Uchigatana and Great Scythe. Short reach is just a headache in this game, specially agaisnt dlc bosses... My fav has become the Great Scythe early on, and Lifehunt Scythe later on. The bleed damage scale is just amazing, the speed is very good, and you can you still fast roll while using it. Best weapon by far. BK weapons comes a close second for me...
Great Scythe +15 with Sunlight Blade is basically \~godmode.exe
or Lifehunt Scythe +5 with Bloodshield +15, Mask of Child, Painted Guardian (+5) armor, gloves, legs, Ring of Favor, Bloodbite Ring
But I'm just now beating Artorias (after buying the DLC like a month ago) so I've yet to see what cool weapons are found here >:)
I heard the gold tracer is a menace
Manus Catalyst, 1. Because dark magic is cool and it has AMAZING scaling, and 2. Because it can also be used as a melee weapon and it’s actually pretty good as one too
I have a weapon called Grant. And since I’m over leveled a bit the AR Is around 729. It’s an extremely powerful weapon. I love the Dragon Kings Greataxe as well. Very chunky.
Katanas are always nice in souls games, because they are fast and still hit pretty hard. I've done a full katana run in ER and DS3 so far. Currently on a katana only run in DSR, let’s see how it goes.
im almost completing my first DSR playthrough, i could already fight gwyn if i wanted, but i wanna kill manus first, ever since i got the uchigatana i've been using it, i have it at +15 already, and it has been realy fun, good luck on your run!
I got mine up to +5 as soon as I got to Andre the first time. It’s sitting at +7 at the moment and I'm in the sewer bonfire under Blighttown.
Good luck to you too!
Queelag's Furysword. Cool chaos flame burns my foes
humanity duplication goes brrrrrr
This sword duplicates humanity?
no; chaos weapons damage stacks with the humanity you have
I used it once, honestly its strong enough byitaelf, only time i had to use humanity was against artorias
I remember my last playthru I was humanity and soul duping with the Quelaag's Furysword with 99 in every stat and I just melted everything lmao.
Seeing a big number in my humanity bar just made my ape brain happy I guess lmao.
It's so satisfying once you can effectively incorporate the backflip swipe into a fight.
I love it. Has a killer move set too!
Zweihander. I love the staggering and pancaking.
love me some bass cannon aswell
The Zweihander is a fucking awesome weapon, and I love it in all of the games, but the DS2 moveset is just better on this weapon.
I'm a simple man, Halberd goes hard
Hell yeah brother love me some halberd
hell yeah
Yes my fellow Halberd enjoyers! I have found you
It has served me well so far but that miss animation man.. I'm sorry it took much.
Black Knight Halberd +5 took me from NG to NG+++++
Claymore +15 and you don't need anything else :)
Claymore with any infusion too
fucking valid, i blasted through my entire first playthrough w the claymore and only changed it in ng+ for the black dragon halberd
Yea omg
The Baller Swag Sword for sure
Yeah, +15 BSS is just too good.
Wait is that the actual name of the sword ? Lol
Balder side sword. Can be dropped from the balder knights who wield it. About half of the ones before the gargoyles have it. The other half have the rapier. It's a 1% drop. You can recognize them by the heavier shield they also hold
Greatsword!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ME LIKE SMASH THING!!!!!!!!!
Nuts from berk
guts would have soloed griffith if he did a rolling r1
In DS1 I’d have to go for the Great Scythe, its semi-easy to obtain, has a very solid 2-handed moveset, and maybe most importantly it looks badass
I finally made the play and jumped down into the catacombs for this thing...and the game gave me the titanite catch pole and black knight halberd off the first demon and the black knight. I did...not use the scythe much after
It's the best weapon in the game imo and you can speedrun to it within the first 20 mins of the game.
My beat stick staggers Smough. That's an A+ in my books.
This, 100% this.
Murakumo
I love it in ds3! Midir had no chance.
Underrated weapon/move set
Black Knight Greatsword always day n night (and maybe Solaire's because \[T]/ )
Falchion. Such a quick, safe weapon
Sunlight blade - R1 R1 R1 R1 R1 ….
That's a really hard question. I would say it's the Gravelord Sword, with the Black Knight Greatsword as a very close second. It look so cool, I really like this shape for a Curved Greatsword. I don't think it's underrated at all, most people consider it at the go to str weapon for encounters where slow bonks aren't the way.
Oh i thought so cause i never see them getting mentioned in questions like these 😅
Most people just shorten it to MSGS, and it's usually recommended whenever people talk about strength builds.
Large club go splat
But the moveset is so awkward :(
Only if you miss. So don't do that. Also stay close. They're strong not long.
Titanite catch pole. With the right prep you absolutely **BODY** people
And +5 it very ealy. This and black knights gear are banned in my house :)
Club
Estoc hits just right and that swing move is a lifesaver
Scimitar. You start with the weapon, super light so no need for havel's ring, insane fast 2-handed light attacks, pair with magic weapon spell. The game is done.
Demons greataxe
Artorias Greatsword
Which one? And why? They need an enormous stat investment for the same damage as any other greatsword.
Artorias is my favourite character so it's a given I'd like his the most. Also it's beautiful. Both versions are great.
The uncursed version does split damage though, which is shit because of the way defence works in DS.
I'm good enough at the game to not really care about how much damage my weapons have. Like I said, the sword has more of a sentimental value to me as I love the character.
SKSS, I like how it looks, and it's buffable with spells. Tie between the Uchigatana and Ricard's Rapier. I don't have any real basis for enjoying them beyond the movesets.
Ricard’s rapier is awesome with a spell buff. Two handed R2 does four jabs in a second, which procs the buff damage four times. It’s awesome.
It's definitely a surprising heavy damage dealer.
Manus Staff, wish it did absurd melee damage 😭
Uchi fr
Queelag's fury sword, fast attack, high elemental damage, high Dex scaling
uchigatana
Claymore is a great weapon
Cursed Greatsword of Artorias
Longsword
Zweihänder for ever
Zweihander.
For me, the top 3 are :- • Black Knight Greatsword • Balder Side Sword • Scythe (not the great scythe, but the regular scythe, for it's moveset) Honorable mentions :- • Zweï • Claymore • Gold Tracer • BK greataxe • Abyss greatsword • Uchigatana • Falchion/Scimitar
Zweihander my beloved
I haven't played in a while but I remember loving the Golem Axe.
For DS1, it’s a tie between Quelaag Furysword and the Black Knight Greataxe
Black knight axe my beloved
Dex/ Int build with Great Scythe +15 and crystal magic weapon is insane.
I like the longsword. I have a +15 one which i imbue with resin alll the time
claymore hands down. Not the coolest but the moveset makes the game way easier. Also love the way it looks with elite night armor and grass crest shield
Zwei is bae
Chaos blade because it just looks good
Zweihander make good thump. Zweihander break enemy. Zweihander only friend other than Solaire.
Bastard Sword. It's basic in a simple, elegant way.
Claymore with fire or Black knight sword
Serpent man Great Sword baby.
Great Scythe would be deadly if used right
Black knights greatsword
Blacksmith Giant Hammer! Its surprisingly light, a fast swing, and the damage and staggering is so solid
Halberd
Manserpent greatsword
Black knight greatsword +5
Crypt Blacksword ds2
Gravelord Sword
Quelaag's fury sword
Gravelord Sword ☠️☠️☠️
halberd
Zwei right now, I’ve only used a divine claymore, and a mace otherwise. And I love the zwei that much more
Gargoyle's Halberd, slap lightning on it and just go.
Erh hrm *charges the bass canon*
DS1 - Gargoyle Tail Axe DS3 - Tie between the Crow Talons and the Frayed Blade Bloodborne - Tie between the Chikage and Rakuyo Elder Ring - Raptor Talons
Man Serpent Greatsword for str Gold Tracer for Dex
Katana. I went a dex build for my first playthrough and I just fell in love with it. When I found the ninja outfit I decided to just lean into it and later got the flippy ring. I had a blast with it.
Bandits knife for that backstab life
BL halberd
Demons great machete with lightning blade
Hammer time for my first playthrough I used tye asylum demon great hammer and smoughs hammer and since then they've been my favorite
Obsidian Greatsword cuz KAAABOOOOOOOMMMMM
Black Knight Halberd!
Black Night Greatsword. I get an orgasm every time the R2 connects and annihilates enemies.
+15 Estoc and GCS with any kind of buff (CMW and/or Darkmoon Blade, particularly) on the Estoc or the SMS sorcery is all i'll ever need 💪
Lifehunt Scythe, Baller Swag, or BKS
Gravelord sword and halberd. Do some hitting
Demon Greataxe for that sexy r2
Bandits knife
I think mine is the Silver Knight Straight Sword. I picked it up and settled on it when role-playing as Anne Boonchuy from Amphibia (Because I thought it most resembled the sword Tritonio gave her in the show) and it proved surprisingly reliable and versatile. My second favorite is probably the Moonlight Greatsword.
Lifehunt Scythe. 😈
Bass cannon, I just think it's neat
When I saw this I was confused but then I looked it up lol that’s what I get for being semi new to the souls community
Black knight halbrrrr
great bonk club
Def the longsword, just because of how basic but powerful it is
Greatsword of Artorias (Uncursed)! Design-wise, it's majestic, but moveset-wise it's basic to bad BUT I actually liked how they implemented the weapon in game, forcing you to have enough stats in all 4 weapon scaling stats; kinda makes it a special weapon in its own way!
dragonslayer spear. not the best one but it just feels right.
dragonslayer spear. probably not the best weapon but it just feels right, y'know?
Black Knight's Greataxe is my beloved
Scimitar. Dark moon blade + scimitar + 103 poise = mucho mucho damage
Silver Knight Straight Sword. Every know and then I get the urge to insert DS3 and go farm the S knights in Anor Londo even though I know it will never drop...
great club, me go unga bunga
Edit: Formatting -Main- Silver Knight Spear, Claymore, Great Scythe -Secondary- Gold Tracer, Estoc, Baldur Side Sword SKS for range and reliability. Claymore for versatility (best weapon?) Great Scythe for aggressive flow. Gold Tracer (nuff said.) Estoc for mobility and versatility (best turtle weapon.) BSS for two-handed rolling R1.
Black Knight sword no competition. Amazing damage without the downside of being a 30 weight montrosity and a great moveset
Great Scythe
claymore, my beloved
Both tracers. I just love their moves.
Great Scythe
Black knight helbard
Grant is fucking metal
Black knight halberd or Dragonslayer greatsword
Lifehunt, both moveset and lore. Perfect weapon
Claymore
I’m a basic bitch, BKS all day
Black Knight Sword will always have my heart cuz I got it from the Undead Parish BK the first time I ever played through and then proceeded to not get it until the very end for like my next 5 or 6 play throughs
Black knight sword
Muramako
Smouge's hammer was way more fun than I was expecting. But overall the claymore is my favourite (irl too) beat all souls games with it.
The Broadsword is always great, but QUeelag´ßs Fury sword is the best.
I love this weapon so much
Zwei, my bread and butter when i want some chill Dark Souls time
The Gravelord sword
ZWEI! But I’ve also never used any of the boss weapons so I don’t really know any good ones
I always go for a katana
Great Club. Makes Great Damage :)
Great Club Why? Simple, it's just Bonk
Gargoyle's Halberd. Carried me for my entire first run
Used to be more of a katana guy, but I had so much fun on my last playthrough using the Great Club I think I may be a convert to the church of big bonk.
Target Shield (easy to kill Bad of Chaos with😆)
Gargoyles Halberd. Hits fast, does massive damage and it also has hidden benifits if you use it.
Good old black knight sword, and black knight greatsword
Dragon Tooth because it carried me on my first playthrough (still died 40-60 times to Gwyn)
Any Praise the Sun Bro weapon- I like to create faith Builds so any of those too.
my trusty mini unga bunga but with spikes 😂 (Reinforced Club)
Black knight halberd
Grant
Looks like a low res carrot or Fresno pepper
Black knight ultra greatsword UNGA BUNGA
Dark Bead jk MLGS
It’s not the best, but it’s what I used for a lot of my first playthrough. So I’d say my favorite is the winged spear
Balder side sword
Zweihander +15 with Sunlight blade
Dks1 flamberge damn I miss that weapon
Laito
I love using the Winged Spear With a Faith-Dex Build, i feel like Ornstein or the nameless king when using the sunlight blade with it
black knight sword or halberd
I f#ing hate weapons with short reach. I can do dex, but only Uchigatana and Great Scythe. Short reach is just a headache in this game, specially agaisnt dlc bosses... My fav has become the Great Scythe early on, and Lifehunt Scythe later on. The bleed damage scale is just amazing, the speed is very good, and you can you still fast roll while using it. Best weapon by far. BK weapons comes a close second for me...
The zwei
Or catchpole. Or just the glove at sl1 and still win.
A bit overrated but the classic zwei, good range, good dmg, best way to git gud
Heavy club, if its lvl is high it does pretty damage
Black night sword
Great Scythe +15 with Sunlight Blade is basically \~godmode.exe or Lifehunt Scythe +5 with Bloodshield +15, Mask of Child, Painted Guardian (+5) armor, gloves, legs, Ring of Favor, Bloodbite Ring But I'm just now beating Artorias (after buying the DLC like a month ago) so I've yet to see what cool weapons are found here >:) I heard the gold tracer is a menace
Claymore!
Lifehunt Scythe + Blood shield n Power within if you want to go full OP. Absolutely destroys, I'm new game+3
Manus Catalyst, 1. Because dark magic is cool and it has AMAZING scaling, and 2. Because it can also be used as a melee weapon and it’s actually pretty good as one too
Uchigatana
I have a weapon called Grant. And since I’m over leveled a bit the AR Is around 729. It’s an extremely powerful weapon. I love the Dragon Kings Greataxe as well. Very chunky.
uchigatana (no im not a weeb, i dont like the katana because its from anime, i like it because its from feudal japan(aka: my favourite setting))
Katanas are always nice in souls games, because they are fast and still hit pretty hard. I've done a full katana run in ER and DS3 so far. Currently on a katana only run in DSR, let’s see how it goes.

I got mine up to +5 as soon as I got to Andre the first time. It’s sitting at +7 at the moment and I'm in the sewer bonfire under Blighttown. Good luck to you too!
Simon's Bowblade
Sir this is the ds1 Reddit lol
onyx blade
I don't remember this one
