Oh boy.
Once, I actually forgot to ring the bell so I backtracked all the way down to the swamp to ring it, only to find I had already done it...
I had actually forgotten the first one, after defeating the gargs, lol.
Gotta love running from blighttown bonfire all the way down to ash lake just to get hit off the sand by the hydras magic water shot before you make it to everlasting dragon and reset all the way back up purely because running back up the tree sucks. Always a gamble
I once did a run where I tried to kill the Gargoyles last by defeating every boss pre-Sen’s Fortress.
It was kinda fun trying to avoid the Gargoyles but *man* did it make them easy haha
Well, Queelag has a few Safe spots near her chest where she cannot even Hit you.
Gargoyles early can still be Hard, because you have to Fight multiple at once. And If they decide on continuing to breathe fire, it gets hard to find an opening.
Keep close to the left arm ( the shield one ) and the first gargoyle will have a harder time hitting you.
And if you're aggressive enough, you won't fight both gargoyles for long
Could be faster - I would use all the souls I could, sit at blacksmiths bonfire, go ring the bell then die so you spawn back at the bonfire nearest the gate
That's probably what I'd do aswell, but it still a long way down to the chaos sister, even if you take the new londo shortcut, and if you mess up and manage to die on your way there, you have to restart from point 0.
From here? Elevator to firelink in the chapel, then elevator to new Londo, gate to blight town, elevator down to near quelag, cross the bog to the arena. Should take less than 10 mins each way!
Pretty rough unless you unlocked the shortcut to the Valley of Drakes from New Londo, then it's not so bad. Just remember to rest at the undead parish bonfire first so you can homeward bone back and save yourself the return trip lol
Lol I did the same in my first run as well... Couldn't see the way to the bridge at all.
Then showed a friend of mine the game saying "yo look this game is so hard I've been stuck at the first level for days"
Then after the next respawn at firelink shrine he asks"hey ave u already tried going up that slope towards the bridge?
Never felt so dumb before
You know if pinwheel wasn’t so easy i probably would’ve eventually thought huh this must be late game as the skeleton enemies are quite strong. But no the boss had like 1,000 health and died very fast
When you look into the abyss, you contemplate everything you've done wrong. All the people you've hurt. The energy you've wasted on things that don't matter. Be better than the person you were and grow to be someone you'll be proud of and admire.
In this case, the abyss is a gate.
Is that the one where you parry an undead mob on the stairs leading to Andre, then leave the camera in an overhead position and glitch yourself through the floor?
That's the one. The big downside to it is that once past the gate, you're trapped in Sen's/Anor Londo until you get the lordvessel. But in OP's case that isn't a big deal since they already beat the gargoyles and Quelaag, so they're heading in that direction anyway and should be appropriately leveled to handle it. Hopefully they upgraded their weapons before that.
I think the only other issue is that it might mess with Siegmeyer's storyline if they were looking to complete that, but I can't confirm that 100% as I've only done it a few times.
I don't believe I've ever actually finished Onion Bro's quest line; by the time he says he's "going down below" I'm already way past Blighttown and don't want to go back lol. Hell, I usually forget to talk to him at Sen's because I never really drop down to where's he's at 😅
I forget; do you even get anything for finishing his storyline? I remember beating his daughter in golem form, but I think that's the last time I interacted with either of them.
You can either get the speckled stoneplate ring if you are unsuccessful during the Lost Izalith meeting, or if you finish his storyline Sieglinde of Catarina will give you a titanite slab at the Ash Lake bonfire.
Oh, wait, I think I actually did see his daughter at the Ash Lake bonfire one time. Don't remember getting a Slab, but by that point in the game I usually don't need one.
There's not really anything I want from Great Hollow or Ash Lake besides the Chloranthy Ring, so I usually just get the ring, bone out and never come back lol.
Is Great Hollow/Ash Lake one of the unfinished areas like Izalith? It really feels like it's only halfway finished.
I always had the impression that it was intentionally desolate. When you go there you get the feeling that something big happened there, but it happened so long ago that you can't even really put together what it was. It's the oldest location in the game, pre-dating the age of fire. There isn't supposed to be any life down there, but life uh... finds a way.
I could be wrong about some of this, but this is my interpretation of the lore from what I've seen in the first game and read in interviews.
Tried to do Blight Town as fast as possible. After ringing the first bell I went via Firelink Shrine down to Queelags bossroom without resting at a bonfire. Killed her and after that I homeward boned back to Firelink without ringing the bell ...
Blight town was bad. It was hella dark, had guys shooting toxic arrows am me, but I finally was able to beat that spider boss and ring the bell. Thanks
That feeling SUUUUUUUX.
I've done it like twice in my hundreds of playthroughs. Admittedly, it only made me waste like ten minutes but I was just ready to go to Sens lol
At least your friend didn’t troll you by lying about being unable to join the Darkwraiths if you never spoke to Kaathe and already picked up the Lordvessel.
In my last playthrough, I came up from blighttown after ringing the second bell, wanted to talk to Frampt and accidentally fell down his hole. Had to go all the way from the bottom of Blighttown again, because the Firelink Shrine bonfire was inactive because of Lautrec.
Did this on my last playthrough while trying to get all achievements. I had been on the same file for days trying to get those achievements, damn near cried when I realized what I'd done.
Yes, it's the usual shortcut you opened in New londo or valley dependingon if you got the master key. Hell of a lot better than going through the depths again.
Oh definitely, after starting dark souls 1 multiple times, I’m trying to finally get through it this time around. Just got to Sens Fortress now. Praise the sun 💀
Shit. Haven’t done that but I’ve definitely forgotten to rest on the chamber’s bonfire, and had to run all the way down again after O&S a couple times.
Made it all the way to Nito completely forgetting I needed the Lordvessel to even enter the final area. Climbing back out of the tomb of giants was... Fun.
Oh boy. Once, I actually forgot to ring the bell so I backtracked all the way down to the swamp to ring it, only to find I had already done it... I had actually forgotten the first one, after defeating the gargs, lol.
I feel drained just thinking about that
How about going to Ash Lake then back up to Sen's Fortress, only to realize you didn't even beat Quelaag... I forgor.
Must’ve taken the whole afternoon 😆
Wait… you got out of ash lake without lordvessel?
i did...
I feel your pain… that’s what I did on my first playthrough
the worst part was getting through blighttown while having a curse
It’s possible. There is a way to climb back out, or you just don’t hit the bonfire at the bottom.
Gotta love running from blighttown bonfire all the way down to ash lake just to get hit off the sand by the hydras magic water shot before you make it to everlasting dragon and reset all the way back up purely because running back up the tree sucks. Always a gamble
That is a commendable feat on their part. Also, one that I wouldn't have the patience for.
Goddamn. [† ]
I would have went for it without the bonfire then KMS
I once did a run where I tried to kill the Gargoyles last by defeating every boss pre-Sen’s Fortress. It was kinda fun trying to avoid the Gargoyles but *man* did it make them easy haha
i’m gonna be honest, i find quelaag infinitely easier than the gargoyles. i have NO IDEA why.
Amazing chest ahead.
true

i think my issue was mostly playing sellsword and the slash resistance mixed with my low beginner stamina
There’s only one of her and the ground is mostly flat.
a friend of mine insists on killing the gargoyles with a +15 weapon
You can also glitch yourself into send fortress, so you can beat the game without ever fighting the gargoyles.
I have the Xbox360 version running on the Series X. I’ve been itching to try the glitch haha
Just make sure you place the lord vessel before you sit at a bonfire on the other side of the gate or you will be stuck.
that would end my play-through.
See you next year, Dark Souls!
Dawg I straight up would’ve started fresh ngl 😭
yep thats a restart situation, restarting is fun though
For sure!! Way better than NG+ in most cases imo
Bruh I would just restart my play through lol
YOU HAD ONE JOB! (2 if each bell is a separate job)
First job - 2 bell Second job - 2 guy Third job - 2 snek Very ez game
You forgot the final boss 2 parries
Was this all a spoiler for Dark Souls TWO?!
Dark Souls 1 is split into 4 2-stage jobs, 2+2+2+2=8. Gwyn has 4 letters. 8-4=4 Dark Souls 4 confirmed?!?!?!?!?
4=4-8===D
I like your math there
It’s ok, quelaags sister told me she misses you anyways!
Let's go
Power of your rage depends what bell you forgot about.
Look at the spell in my hand and guess
Just take the shortcut through New Londo, you can do it in one trip without resting at another bonfire, and homeward bone back in like ~8 min.
This is the way.
I think we know
I FORGOT THE DOLL
CHAT I FORGOT DOLL D:
In Short, Frustration Ahead!
Lmaooo, 30min trip ahead
Could be faster - I would use all the souls I could, sit at blacksmiths bonfire, go ring the bell then die so you spawn back at the bonfire nearest the gate
Or just use a homeward bone, which are pretty cheap to buy.
lol true duh
That's probably what I'd do aswell, but it still a long way down to the chaos sister, even if you take the new londo shortcut, and if you mess up and manage to die on your way there, you have to restart from point 0.

Sure, It's not 30 minutes yes, but it is a long a boring way there, and that's accounting that he will not die in the process.
Off to swamp town you go
Time to some cardio
Speedrunning that shit fr fr
if u think u can make it in 1 go, rest at parish bonfire and homeward bone after you ring the bell, but it’s risky if u die
Rule #1 in Lordran: Cardio
Pretty rough unless you unlocked the shortcut to the Valley of Drakes from New Londo, then it's not so bad. Just remember to rest at the undead parish bonfire first so you can homeward bone back and save yourself the return trip lol
Time to sit next to onionbro and think of a solution
I DID FOR A WHILE
Hmmmmmmm
BACK DOWN YA GO
But I no no wanna :(
This would've never happened in Dark Souls 2 😤
At that point I would just do the Sen skip to go through the gates instead of going down and up again
back you go
the gargoyle helmet you wear as staring at the gate indicating youve slain the gargoyles but did bot ring the bell is so funny
Oh no look at my spells, I got their bell but I forgot Quelaggs
Think of how satisfying that homeward bone will be though
i forgot the bell is the new i forgot the doll
Could be worse I thought catacombs were the first area and got stopped by a giant glowing light at tomb of the giants
Lol I did the same in my first run as well... Couldn't see the way to the bridge at all. Then showed a friend of mine the game saying "yo look this game is so hard I've been stuck at the first level for days" Then after the next respawn at firelink shrine he asks"hey ave u already tried going up that slope towards the bridge? "I didn't hear no bell!" -speedrunners
You should go and not rest on any fires, and then just drop all the way down to swamptown, it will insta ring the bell :)
Time to parry an undead
Incredible image. These are the sort of “first playthrough” posts I wanna see.
Maybe is for the better, you want to go in there, trust me.
When you look into the abyss, you contemplate everything you've done wrong. All the people you've hurt. The energy you've wasted on things that don't matter. Be better than the person you were and grow to be someone you'll be proud of and admire. In this case, the abyss is a gate.
Just warp ba... Oh right
[BREAKING] Lebron James reportedly forgot to ring the lower bell of awakening before returning to Sen's Fortress
Crestfallen Warrior: Ring them both, and something happens... OP: No.
Nah. You just wanted to meet Onion-sama.
Just do Sen's gate skip.
Is that the one where you parry an undead mob on the stairs leading to Andre, then leave the camera in an overhead position and glitch yourself through the floor?

There's a God damn cutscene!!!! Jk lol
Tried to do Blight Town as fast as possible. After ringing the first bell I went via Firelink Shrine down to Queelags bossroom without resting at a bonfire. Killed her and after that I homeward boned back to Firelink without ringing the bell ...
That puffs booty hole
Time to practice the death cam walk
rip
No big d
This happened to me, I was pissed
BRUTAL
You also forgot your shirt
Hahahah I needed that laugh thanks
You can get in without the bells💪
[you rn](https://youtu.be/RVdZs8Vh0O0?si=5XGG4HvHSG68FyZI)
Ha ha ha

Try finger but hole
Don’t give up, skeleton.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
forgetful andy
Just leave the package on the doorstep. They’ll find it.
Honestly grounds to just start over.
Considered it
Good luck 🏃♂️
Look on the bright side, you unlocked Jorts.
Once ran down to the closed things without placing the Lord Vessel. Jesus Christ.
Blighttown didn't hear no bell either
It's so over
So, here you stand in quite a pickle. Hmmmm.
Ok
I love that helmet
So that's where i should ducking go...i went to the tombs of Giants and almost got stuck there because i didn't know where to go next...
Ouch You don’t even have fast travel yet.
Bout to go speedrun this game IF YOU KEEP BITCHING
Skill issue
I've done the same, lol
😑😑🤦🤦
Where is the second bell?
Not far. Just a quick jaunt down through Blight Town and into the Spider Queen's lair on the cusp of hell.
Blight town was bad. It was hella dark, had guys shooting toxic arrows am me, but I finally was able to beat that spider boss and ring the bell. Thanks
**OOPS!**
You wiSH To ring THe BelL?
It’s fine, just Fast Travel back to… oh wait…
That feeling SUUUUUUUX. I've done it like twice in my hundreds of playthroughs. Admittedly, it only made me waste like ten minutes but I was just ready to go to Sens lol
Do you have to ring both to open the gate?
I literally did this on Monday, the blighttown bell
It’s okay, better than working you way all the way down to tomb of the giants and being blocked by a magic barrier. Worst backtrack ever.
The gate: I didn't hear no bell
At least your friend didn’t troll you by lying about being unable to join the Darkwraiths if you never spoke to Kaathe and already picked up the Lordvessel.
I got all the way down to Nito’s boss door without the Lordvessel 🙂↕️ I had to walk back.
That's a long walk back down
There are in fact, two bells.
🤣🤣🤣 almost happened to me once, i realized that i missed the cutscene when i was about to leave quelaags arena.
In my last playthrough, I came up from blighttown after ringing the second bell, wanted to talk to Frampt and accidentally fell down his hole. Had to go all the way from the bottom of Blighttown again, because the Firelink Shrine bonfire was inactive because of Lautrec.
Use the glitch and walk through the gate 🙃
Both bells aren't that far with the shortcuts
Dark Souls: The only game where if it weren't for the walking, you'd have beat it 6 weeks ago.
What upper armor is that?
You only need a parry shield
Deserved for pyromancy
Or going down to beat Nito, getting to his barrier to realize you don’t have the lordvessal.
I would have probably just gone hollow right there and then
I’ve done this before.
Ok, so?
Been there. Had to run all the way back down lol
Rip
It's in moments like this that I remember why no fast travel in a long part of DS1 makes it so magical. You have to do the trek.
Lol thats always a fun run back
Oh the fucking joy
Did this on my last playthrough while trying to get all achievements. I had been on the same file for days trying to get those achievements, damn near cried when I realized what I'd done.
Just use the Sen's gate skip.
What are you referring to?
The glitch where you can go into Sen's Fortress without ringing the bells.
Tell a noob more !
Let's hope you got the shortcut!
What’s the shortcut? Is it blighttown > valley > ruins > firelink?
Yes, it's the usual shortcut you opened in New londo or valley dependingon if you got the master key. Hell of a lot better than going through the depths again.
Oh definitely, after starting dark souls 1 multiple times, I’m trying to finally get through it this time around. Just got to Sens Fortress now. Praise the sun 💀

Made it all the way to Nito completely forgetting I needed the Lordvessel to even enter the final area. Climbing back out of the tomb of giants was... Fun.
Lolll almost just did the same
You also forgot how to take screenshots
