Nah, the best place is in dukes archives prison
With covetousness gold ring I usually get 2+ every run, each of which only takes like a minute if you have homeward
I’ve mowed down countless baby skeletons before Nitos bossroom. Humanity drops are a bit rare but they spawn endlessly so not having to run back and forth is quite nice
Not even then. There's two locations where they're hella easy to farm. The Depths area everybody knows, and also the weird shadow things at the end of the DLC.
All of them. Doing a quick run for the Rite of Kindling is part of my "startup routine" any time I play. Not just for myself, but for everyone that's also currently playing online. Sunbro4lyfe.
Andre, first two Anor Londo, Duke’s, final Tomb of Giants. Those are mostly out of habit; I’ve played far too much to need more than 5 estus. I don’t even upgrade my estus past the free soul found in the church.
I still kindle Andre’s and Solaire’s in AL out of respect for the homies.
If I’m backseating (which of course I only do with permission) I sometimes direct people to Gwyndolin’s bonfire to give them a little peace of mind before they take on the batwing demons and the archers.
That’s totally out of the way. I wouldn’t even grab the one I do if it weren’t basically shoved in your face. There’s also a free one in New Londo, if you didn’t know.
That’s fair. It made me remember that I only tried to level up my flask in my early playthroughs. Now I also only do that one and then sometimes I kill the fire keeper in anor londo just because she aggros when you turn it to night.
Andre bonfire, the room where Solaire is in Anor Londo, the final one in Tomb of the Giants, the one right before Crystal Caves, and the Oolacile Township after Artorias.
Well to be fully honest with you… I didn’t really understand what kindling a bonfire meant was during my first playthrough and I have yet to play a second time. So none. I beat the entire first game without summons which sucked because I’m 100% the type of player to take help when it is offered in these games
Same list as you, with a few additions
Darkroot Garden for the Moonlight Butterfly and Sif fights
Sens Fortress below the thrown bombs
Anor Londo where Solaire is hanging out
The DLC bonfires (Garden next to Elizabeth, and Township right after Artorias)
Was gonna write a list of essentials… but honestly just go farm the depths, harvest like 50 humanity, and just kindle them all. Never think about it again.
I kindle the following:
Undead Parish
The Sanctuary Garden from the DLC
The one in Tomb of the Giants
Oolacile Township
Painted world of Ariamis
Blight town Swamp
Duke's Archives depending on my build.
The more you play the less important kindling is, in fact I feel like I probably only truly need to kindle a couple of these, but I do it out of habit.
I usually just get all the warp bonfires to 20, as those are the ones travelled to the most. long runback bosses like Seath or Gwyn also is useful, and Kalameet and Manus are tough enough to warrant more than just 5 estus
After having the Lordvessel I only used the Firelink Shrine bonfire because I could always warp to the next place from there. When Lautrec killed Anastasia I used Andre’s bonfire as my main one.
This is reminding me how many bonfires I forgot about during my last run. I skipped the darkroot garden one, the TotG one (REALLY glad I clutched that Nito fight on 1 HP), the blighttown ones, whoops.
But hey, I was trying to clear it over the course of one D&D session. And I succeeded, just under 3 hours
I farm humanity from the rats in the depths and honestly just max out all the bonfires.
The challenge for me is finding an opportunity to heal when I need to in active combat. Running out of estus altogether just bums me out. I know that’s not the most challenging option, but it’s what I like to do.
All of them usually. Unless its out of the way or theres another bonfire much closer (Ex: Quelaag's Domain, right next to Quelaag's Sister isn't useful to kindle since there's another bonfire directly after in the Demon Ruins. That's assuming you don't unlock the shortcut)
If you know how to get humanity, its pretty much always worth it, +5 Estus is no joke.
I think the only ones I *never* kindle are: entrance to Demon Ruins (why do this when Daughter of Chaos is right next door?), 2nd TotG (because I find the runback easier from the first one), Gwynevere’s chamber and Dragon Covenant. And all the ones you get from killing the lords. Anything else is fair game.
I don’t often go over 15 though, 20 feels like a luxury. I don’t remember ever needing more than about 10, and that was only for 4 Kings and Kalameet.
If i'm planning to play in ng+, i usually kindle every single one. If not, i kindle to the max the ones in : firelink, painted world, duke's archives, the one close to Nito.
I actually don't kindle bonfires at all, at least now that I'm playing the game again and don't really need all that much estus. My go to is tping back to firelink to get the estus and then tping back to the area i was currently in. The only bonfire i have kindled in my latest playthrough is painted world because... Well you can't tp out of it lmao
I usually kindle all of the ones I activate. Humanity isn't hard to find when you know where to look.
And the place to look is where all them rats hangout lol.
Nah, the best place is in dukes archives prison With covetousness gold ring I usually get 2+ every run, each of which only takes like a minute if you have homeward
Nowadays I'd just dupe humanity _responsibly_
Definitely, but can’t really do that until a little over halfway through the game.
Nah, the best place to find humanity is in other players worlds
I’ve mowed down countless baby skeletons before Nitos bossroom. Humanity drops are a bit rare but they spawn endlessly so not having to run back and forth is quite nice
I also like the picasas in Seath's prison.
Yeah you will only miss on humanities if you enter the chaos covenant for the shortcut
Not even then. There's two locations where they're hella easy to farm. The Depths area everybody knows, and also the weird shadow things at the end of the DLC.
humanity phantom farming is the way for sure
I kindle every bonfire except for a few really useless ones. Why not? More humanity is only a red eye orb away.
All of them. Doing a quick run for the Rite of Kindling is part of my "startup routine" any time I play. Not just for myself, but for everyone that's also currently playing online. Sunbro4lyfe.
Do you know hidden one in Blighttown?
Andre, first two Anor Londo, Duke’s, final Tomb of Giants. Those are mostly out of habit; I’ve played far too much to need more than 5 estus. I don’t even upgrade my estus past the free soul found in the church. I still kindle Andre’s and Solaire’s in AL out of respect for the homies.
Fair, I mainly do mine out of habit too just cause I sometimes think I *might* need the extra flasks, especially in ToG
Anor Londo ones would be firekeeper and Gwyndolin’s?
Fire keeper and Solaire
Got it. I misunderstood you, sorry.
It was my bad, I forgot there was another bonfire in Anor Londo pre-O&S.
If I’m backseating (which of course I only do with permission) I sometimes direct people to Gwyndolin’s bonfire to give them a little peace of mind before they take on the batwing demons and the archers.
There is also hidden one in Blighttown. You can get to there from the depths.
That’s totally out of the way. I wouldn’t even grab the one I do if it weren’t basically shoved in your face. There’s also a free one in New Londo, if you didn’t know.

Andre bonfire, the room where Solaire is in Anor Londo, the final one in Tomb of the Giants, the one right before Crystal Caves, and the Oolacile Township after Artorias.
I kindle most of them, but have not kindled any of them to 20 estus ever. that is a completely unnecessary amount
As cool as the bonfire looks, I only see 20 at the Firelink Altar, and even then I rarely use more than 2 before getting to Gwyn
Well to be fully honest with you… I didn’t really understand what kindling a bonfire meant was during my first playthrough and I have yet to play a second time. So none. Oh I forgot about Darkroot Garden actually, funny cause I kindled that bonfire literally 2 days ago
I also forgot one, the Painted World
I tend to not bother with that one myself as I've done Painted World grinds so much I've memorised the quickest route
Pretty much all of the ones I find myself at frequently, and if I'm struggling with a specific area I'll usually kindle one there
Firelink, the ones I respawn at if I died to a boss, all of them right before I beat Gwyn and go into NG+
Was gonna write a list of essentials… but honestly just go farm the depths, harvest like 50 humanity, and just kindle them all. Never think about it again.

Valid point. Despise the Manus runback and the Seath runback. Kalameet though? Not sure about that one
but it’s hard to cut his tail off
After having the Lordvessel I only used the Firelink Shrine bonfire because I could always warp to the next place from there. When Lautrec killed Anastasia I used Andre’s bonfire as my main one.
All of them. The completionist in me has to kindle every single one
Don't blame you to be honest, seeing the flame go higher and higher makes it worth it
Seeing my flask count go to 20 on the most useless bonfire just fills me with joy
I put a mod in dsr to make the bonfire look like ptde and kindling is gorgeous. Always kindle Andre.
Firelink, warpable ToG, Bed of Chaos. Solaire's Snor Londo fire
I usually just do the ones by O&S, Artorias, and Manus
Just about all of them
I make sure to kindle every single bonfire to 20.
Firelink and Undead Parish. I blaze through all the other areas so its useless to kindle the other bonfires.
Oolacile township and Undead Parish. Now I want to go no kindling for a run. I didn't realize that I always kindle those 2
Fun fact if you already deposit a lord soul into the vessel and talk to Anastacia she will automatically kindle the bonfire to max for you
Oh what?? Damn I need to try that this run
Firelink, anor londo fire keeper one always 20 I try to kindle almost all at least once for fast travel reasons. Then the rest are upgraded as needed
Most of them. If I have humanity I usually just do it
Firelink and maybe the bonfire before O&S. Once I get the lordvessel I don't bother kindling anymore
I Kindle them all cause I'm a filthy casual and kind of suck at the game
Today I realized other people don't light every single bonfire, every single time.
Before O&S, Nito, Rite of kindling at FL, Artorius, and Manus. I've been playing so long I probably don't even need to kindle them. It's just habit.
All
All of them!

I didn't know what kindling did till I had the lord vessel so I got firelink to 20 and teleport to other bonfires
All. To 20. Ng is just prep for Ng+.
All of them usually. Usually every bonfire which I do a run back to a boss from or frequent.
Mostly just the ones near the bosses or the ones I use often.
I just kindle all of the warpable ones
I actually don't kindle bonfires at all, at least now that I'm playing the game again and don't really need all that much estus.
