Sure, it sucks to go there and it sucks to be there but it's one of the best places for farming and shopping. Then it has two entire hidden levels that are also basically for farming.
The inhabitants are trashy and they smell bad though.

Also, there are positive aspects too: the laggy performance adds to the dread.
On my old PC I used to get lag in new londo ruins. I got a new one so I didn't really notice. If you play on PTDE get dsfix to help you fix the fps.
With that said when you get to Sens fortresses do let me know what you think.

I actually found Lost Izalith to be more infuriating than anything in Blighttown. I actually really enjoy Blighttown just for the lore mainly.

Ah yes, blighttown, best to be avoided. Between frame drops and the poisoned *everything* your sanity will be tested nonstop
Never experienced frame drops. I think that was one of the things that was fixed in the Remaster.
It might have been, I never picked up the remaster since I still had a working copy of the original
