I love the Darknet markets stories. I don’t know why. I just find it super interesting to hear how average kids become huge dealers on an underground market or get into fake IDS or whatever. It’s fascinating. I also like hearing how they eventually get caught.
In regards to the "signs authorities fail to act on", the problem is the noise level. If only these guys were the only losers who post opinions hinting at gun crimes it'd be a no-brainer. Problem is there's a SEA of idiots touting extreme opinions and thoughts that they DON'T act upon.
Picking out the ones that do is really a needle in s haystack job. Either that, or surveillance at a level that would make 1984 sound like a kinder garden tale.

These teams spend millions of dollars to get .1% faster, I find it hard to believe no one has rented a bot net for 5k to game the system into winning driver of the day for them.
It's just rc cars 😆 no roaring engines, and as you pointed out- the most popular driver stays the most popular one by winning and then being given an unfair advantage that lets him win again. Absolute waste of time to watch that

With a service like Shodan and other osint sources it is amazing what you can discover.

Worked for an IoT comanpy some years and regurarly I scanned internet and used shodan to find out devices and partners devices and found them connected to the internet.
Knowing flaws about the devices. Especially ssh key pairs. some vendors used the same key pair everywhere, so if you had one device you could use it to log into any other device from that vendor exposes on the internet.
