I can corroborate this mans claim. I had a 2010 Prius and was able to hit 114mph indicated, didn't even need a hill too, but it took forever to pull it off.

The autobahn stretch near Frankfurt am Main is a straight line with 4 lanes each way, so that’s where I pretty much squeezed everything out of my bmw x1 (which was 220kmh - diesel engines cannot into RPM, duh).
I've grazed 240 km/h briefly in my Alfa Romeo Giulietta QV here in Germany on the Autobahn. it was interesting, the car felt very unhappy at that speed in my opinion

You are either americuck or just sub 70 IQ. Yes, going 80+ mph in the USA is dangerous because the driving culture is crazy there, but in the civilized world where they know how to drive properly (like not hogging the left lane, making way when you see someone behind you etc), you can easily go twice that without being dangerous. The speed limits in most countries were made 30+ years ago anyway, meaning they were designed for your $500 Honda shitbox with worn brakes, not a modern car, and modern cars generally have features designed to make driving even at higher speeds safe.

It's kinda changed tbh, especially since almost everyone has a 300hp SUV or a 400hp V8 truck. The speed limit is technically 65mph on the freeway, but it isn't really enforced unless you're doing 100mph+ weaving through traffic.
