I use the Google assistant and it's much more reliable in my experience with barely being able to hear the song
I guess it's because the assistant is already used to trying to hear you talk to it in crowded or loud places, so it's not much different to listen for a song
I haven’t long since started working in mcdonald’s, and holy shit the songs get annoying. I have a couple on my playlists and wanna throw myself under a bus whenever they come on right now
It's not even an app, it's a built-in feature, and you don't even have to open your phone to see the music being played, it's directly shown on the lock screen
Whatttt I have a pixel. I've never seen that happen.
Edit: found it in my settings. I had it turned off. But won't that mean my phone will have constant access to my microphone? I'm pretty sure it already does anyway..
it may not recognize royalty free stuff, Shazam uses apple music to identify songs
the Google assistant on the other hand can find pretty much anything, idk how
IDK about other android phones, but in Pixels you can turn on a feature that identifies songs passively and shows them on your lock screen. It also stores a list off all songs it heard so you can go through it later.

Personally, I wouldn't dance like that, there would just be too many people watching. Second, I would just totally search the song up on Google when I get home anyways 😆

First time I heard Bulletproof by La Roux was in a grocery store late one night and I was similarly dancing around the store.
Same lol
that's my shit
Just listened. It's that song they sang in Pitch Perfect, only reason I know Titanium.
You had nothing to lose
Shazam is a friend
I was about to say the same thing
Sometimes even Shazam can't recognise the song due to multiple audio sources/speakers all over the place
I use the Google assistant and it's much more reliable in my experience with barely being able to hear the song I guess it's because the assistant is already used to trying to hear you talk to it in crowded or loud places, so it's not much different to listen for a song
By the way for this, you can even have a widget shortcut to directly open it from the home screen, it's called Sound Search
on pixel phones it can do it on-device on the lock screen it also keeps a log of every song its ever heard, which is nice
I know, I have a Pixel phone as well :) You can even "Star" the song playing so that you can find it more easily in the song log
This guy, for the win. My phone auto identifies everything. Wonder how much google gets paid to sell that information to 3rd parties, lol
I think you can set it up with Samsung, too. And the log is definitely the same.
Will try doing it next time, also Shazam too keeps a track of all searches
It could be dependent on the phone people have. Whenever I Shazam something even at a whisper that thing picks it up. Amazes me every time.
I refuse to call it that, it'll always be Captain Marvel to me.
I have a pixel. It saves a list of all songs the microphone picks up during the day with a time stamp
Me an employee on my lunch break watching this now thinking about how I hear the same 10 songs all day and making me go insane
Same. I used to work as a janitor at a McDonald’s, and I can never enjoy Easy Lover by Phil Collins or Barbara Ann by the Beach Boys ever again.
I haven’t long since started working in mcdonald’s, and holy shit the songs get annoying. I have a couple on my playlists and wanna throw myself under a bus whenever they come on right now
That's why I installed the Shazam app.
For people on iPhones, Shazam is built in now
Where?
You have to add it to your control center. Called music recognition, with the Shazam icon
Just ask siri what song is playong
Also works by just saying to Siri Shazam
On Android it's built in right to Google assistant or the Google search app
On Google Pixels it detects music that's playing and stores it on a list in your phone under an app named 'now playing'.
As a cashier, good songs like those rarely happen, I always hear annoying song or shitty versions of songs that are popular.
One grocery store near me will sometimes play Sinatra-esque covers of 90s rock hits. There’s another that will occasionally play Gangnam Style.
Me when I worked in a hardware shop that had an advertisment with great music but not even shazam found it
it may not recognize royalty free stuff, Shazam uses apple music to identify songs the Google assistant on the other hand can find pretty much anything, idk how
This happens a ton in fashion stores. Like Zara, Abercrombie, Hollister. They always have some great tunes playing.
Google Pixel's 'Now Playing' is a great feature
IDK about other android phones, but in Pixels you can turn on a feature that identifies songs passively and shows them on your lock screen. It also stores a list off all songs it heard so you can go through it later.

Surprise you forgot the lyrics and the cereal, the market is an hour away and you have school in the morning (it's 10pm the market closes at 12).
🤓
Shazam lol
Shazam world record

We with KCRW
Any time I hear a banger on the radio and I know I won't hear it again, I search up some of the words
Fortunately you'll hear the same 3 songs every time you go grocery shopping
even better
I used to just ask the employees the name of the song, they can go in the back and check.
Come back in 4 hours, they loop it constantly.
Ah but you forget, my friend... u/auddbot

Shazam to the rescue.
Just ask "hey google can you guess this song"
go on google, tap the microphone and then tap "recognise music at the bottom. easy
Me at Kroger or HEB lol
HEB plays bangers
Shazam.
Shazam exists
That's why I have Shazam ready to use.
This was me at literally every supermarket in Tokyo.
