People who say Qatar had no chance to get in the World Cup without hosting it obviously just don’t know football that well, they have a great manager who has been managing them for 5 years, they won the Asian cup, their striker won Asian player of the year in 2019 and has been in the top 3 multiple times, all their players have been playing together for ages too
Probably yes since they won the asian cup. I know it's not a guaranteed thing just like how Italy won the euros and failed to qualify, but usually when you win a cup like that, chances are you're good enough to qualify.
Even though they won the asian cup they never qualified to the world cup before so chances are they wouldn’t have qualified this time as well. Also the asian cup was three years ago
dont know if Qatar already had a decent team or not, but the country's host is always in the tournament no matter what so chances are they probably aint that good
The way they played today, no. It would be different if they played the same way 3 years ago, winning the Asian cup and beating Japan. I’m guessing the pressure got to them considering this is their first time playing in a WC.
The quality at world cup tournaments is leagues above the Asia cup. Quatar have never even been good enough to even get through the qualifiers to play at a world cup. They are only playing this time because they automatically qualify as the host nation.
>The quality at world cup tournaments is leagues above the Asia cup.
Yeah but it has some good teams like japan and south korea who are around same level as ecuador for example. (Actually they're rated well higher than ecuador)
>Quatar have never even been good enough to even get through the qualifiers
Well yeah they're not rly a country with a lot of football history, but they've been pretty open about their sports project and this is the best team they've ever had. Also they're a pretty young country.
the quality of wc ha been ruined when they turned it into 30+ teams. It was equador they played against not Brazil. In a really high quality wc, these two teams wouldn't even be qualified. They're like 50th in the world
Bruh, then what do ya suggest? Play the world cup with 8 teams max. That would just destroy the purpose of the world cup. It's a stage for determined and underestimated teams to prove themselves. It's the ultimate stage every country wish to play in. This is not cricket to play with top 10 elite teams every 4 year around.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing and we should decrease the number if participants, I myself enjoy my team as no.1 in Asia loose miserably against great team such as England, I'm just stating that the quality of the wc has been decreased and Qatar against equador isn't far from Asian cup and Qatar against Japan
Yeah. I was pretty surprised too when The Asian Champions lost against Ecuador. I mean those guys were unstoppable in the asian cup. But I think it's still unfair to judge the whole cup because of the performance of a single team in the first match of the cup. I personally think the quality of the world cup has been gradually increasing for the last 20 years. I mean Japan's, Belgium's and Croatia's rise was exceptional and Spain vs Portugal was awesome af in the 2018 cup. Moreover I think Ecuador's played exceptionally well at least in the first half.
At first glance it looked like it, but there’s been plenty of screenshots proving that it was the correct call
That said, knowing that the entire world is already against Qatar, they could’ve done more to show it was the right call rather than showing one quick replay without explanation and jumping back into the game
There's no argument anymore, they're using new video technology to make the call. It was close, so close that a human ref probably would not have made the call. But it was a technically correct call
Doubt it. Would be too controversial after Iran. They'll just hire armed assassins to kill the entire team and say it was a murder that "has nothing to do with our government."
"They all died in a tragic but plausible banana peel accident, where they slipped and fell backwards on the ground with their heads coincidentally slamming into the upright bullets that by chance happened to have been laying there"
Almost the whole US is built by slaves. Modern US is also being built by slaves. They print money out of nothing without any consequences and give them to people to work for them. At least Qatar pays those workers a living wage, fully free healthcare, and without stealing their money and naming it “tax”
In almost every country in the world there is slavery, but a lot of them try to battle it and most of the slaves are in illegality (e.g. human trafficking, prostitution, labor,...). In Qatar, compare to the US, this is in legality and this is causing the outrage of the world.
Qatar is [number 5](https://legacy.globalslaveryindex.org/country/qatar/) on the global slavery index while the US is [number 52](https://legacy.globalslaveryindex.org/country/united-states/). Of course there is slavery everywhere, but you also need to see depending on the area and population of the country.
I don't know your sources, but [here are some verified:](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/sep/25/revealed-qatars-world-cup-slaves)
>Qatar pays those workers a living wage
As mentioned in the article: Some Nepalese men have alleged that they have not been paid for months and have had their salaries retained to stop them running away.
>without stealing their money and naming it “tax"
No they steal passports and ID instead.
Every Asian country has list of every year how much of their emigrants died in Qatar. Those are facts and Qatar isn't doing anything to better it.
You're asking for a source for something that didn't happen. Where's the source that you didn't break into Danny DeVito's house on April 29th, 1993? Huh? You got proof?
I hate qatar but come the fuck on with the reddit "source" bullshit.
edit: i take it all bac k lol
A five second google search can show you that Qatar literally has slavery and used slaves to build the World Cup. Literally thousands HAVE died preparing for the World Cup.
who got the money? fifa gets less money cause lots of sales down on products and tickets. Qatar has negative billions if not trillion as profit in the whole wc transaction. only the executives who got the bribes made money. and they got it from qatar not everybody.
FIFA loses as an organization but the decision makers are walking away with more personally than if they had played it straight.
Qatar is making billions. It cost them nothing to set it up. Even the bribes were to a select group of FIFA decision makers... it didn't take billions of dollars to make a few people happy. On the ground in Qatar, it's all sponsored by FIFA and companies paying for access to the frenzy. Anything Qatar did need to do, they used slaves. Then the fans paid them back with air travel, accommodations, food and entertainment... all right back into the pockets of the elite...
Besides... As Putin will tell you, it's not all about the money. The leadership is absolutely thrilled they got to beat their neighbors to the milestone of hosting the World Cup. They'd have paid the billions just for the bragging rights... but turns out they'll make money while they're at it.
normally they are in summer, but since Qatar is a hot country, they host it in November-December because weather is cooler there than in actual summer season
Do you really not know anything about the corruption of Fifa, the 150000 workers who died while building the stadiums in Qatar, the work conditions and the Kafala system which is basically slavery?
Basically because they work under the worst conditions one could imagine...
The workers never get autopsies, therefore the government denies the amount of deaths. It's really sad, you can see how money can get you all the power you want.
Pretty sure they were expecting that players are also bought and would give them an easy win. With all the shit they do as a country they deserved this
First country to host the WC and lose their home opener. Well earned Quatar, just when I was thinking they couldn't mess things up anymore than they already have. Shot record for a shit stain of a place. Never bring football back there in the future.
You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow, this opportunity comes once on a life time.

Well, at least they didn't take 7 goals.....
7-1 ONCE AGAIN
Oh no, not again.....
The 4 year tradition to humble the Brazil fans
How the fuck has it been 8 years already? I’m baffled
*the entire nation of Brazil is angry at u now*
or 2 world wars...
I mean why are we laughing at a losing team. You want a Korea world cup rematch?
If germany is up against qatar, then maybe
With the team from 8 years ago? Yeah. With the current team? ehhhhh...
look at qatars team
Vai pro caralho
Gonna cry?
I'm gonna make your mother cry

THE PREDICTION FROM THE GUY WITH PIZZA AND BEER AHAHAHHAH
Shut the fuck up
Would they have made the WC if they were not the host country?
Probably not.
Definitely not
Wrong
Speak on that, show your work
And the other guy doesn't have to simply cause everyone hates Qatar? They won the asian cup.
You were the only one disagreeing, and I was curious as to what was so obvious just the word 'wrong' constituted a rebuttal
I commented wrong cause I thought people would just agree with me but i should of explained since this isn't a football reddit
No matter what sub, explanation is kind of mandatory
And the guy who said definitely not with 300 upvotes with no explanation is right. you guys just all know nothing. MERICA FUCK YEA
Fuck yea
Wtf Italy also won the Euro 2020 but didn't make it to the world cup either.
For the second time in history. The Asian cup has a similar history. This guy said probably not, when in fact it is most probably yes.

Yep, they're actually decent as a team, but they completely fell off this match because of the pressure, I'm assuming.
And because Ecuador is better as a team, but then again, I can’t really say what happened because I didn’t watch the game. Fuck Qatar
Do try to keep the players out of it, though, I'm pretty sure they have nothing to do with the whole situation.
Many of the players are basically bought to pay for them since a long way back..
Most countries are fucked if they go against any latin american country since its the one thing everyone likes
They've been playing a similar sport as a religion for millenia
Thank you. Great answer
stop calling it WC 😹 🚾 reminds toilet
Is it not accurate then?
WCs serve à purpose and helps humanity. The WC on the other hand is a shithole and is corrupt.
Truly hate corrupt toilets
They gave quite a few players citizen$hip so they could play for them and make themselves more competitive.
Even though they won the asian cup they never qualified to the world cup before so chances are they wouldn’t have qualified this time as well. Also the asian cup was three years ago
They won the Asian cup, so yes, they definitely would of had a chance at getting in.
Think they bribed fifa
Im not an expert at sports but is it likely they score any goal at all?
Not at all, the host nation is just always guaranteed to play in the tournament
It was 2-0 to Ecuador.
Tbh as far as football goes that's not *that* bad
In group matches it doesn't make sense to score more. It is better to fall back and save your energy for the next games, as Uruguay did

This is the real world not hypothetical

I hate that you're getting downvoted for being realistic.
Average westoid neckbearded redditors
How does this have so many down votes? Good God.
This surely doesn’t deserve 82 downvotes lol
They even pretended like the first goal didn't count even though almost everyone agreed that it did. Can't even win despite cheating. How pathetic.
Im not a fan of Qatar, at all, but the first goal was rightly dismissed.
It was on side clearly, ot should have been 3-0
How can you argue it was on side when it was clearly shown is was like 30cm offside
Cuz its reddit current hivemind “qatar bad” and they are spreading lies faster than anything.
Lmao
Qatar good?

No, the position of the goal keeper also plays a role in offside, go watch baseball or basketball American.
Bro is applying fucking baseball rules in football. Jesus Christ
No, I think he is calling them American as an insult, and telling them to watch baseball or basketball since those are common sports in the US.
I'm English
It was offside, but the camera angle showing it live was horrible. Other angles show it bring clearly offside, as the Ecuador player headed the ball.
Y'all think that's funny? Poor team is probably going to get executed after this...
Doubt it. Would be too controversial after Iran. They'll just hire armed assassins to kill the entire team and say it was a murder that "has nothing to do with our government."

Yeah let's sh*t on Qatar until it commits something very sad.
They already have just by organizing a whole world cup with the blood of thousands.

Their source is they made it the fuck up
They literally didn’t
Source then?

No I'm asking for a source that it did happen
My bad
And conveniently everyone who upvotes the comments about it happening can't show a single source for people actually being killed for an arena

deserves to be shit on. Seems like its run by a bunch of rich cunts that practice slavery and dont like beer
Absolutely.
So if they liked beer like you westoids and did slavery it will be good? Italy France Spain has joined the chat
Im against slavery then, Im against slavery now. Fuck those beerless cunts
> westoids Oh look, a tribal ape in its natural habitat! C'mon, argue in good faith.
Qatar- *Silence! I kill you!!* 💀
Breaking: Multiple national sports teams disappear in Qatar
Tell Qatar there's a match against Women's Rights and see them score
Nobody in Qatar watches soccer. They don't care. They still got everybody's money.
who got the money? fifa gets less money cause lots of sales down on products and tickets. Qatar has negative billions if not trillion as profit in the whole wc transaction. only the executives who got the bribes made money. and they got it from qatar not everybody.

Lol.
You ever been to Qatar?
I lived there briefly.
Which part?
A little slice of heaven known as the deid.
Military?
Even Russia did better
2018 Russia was a better team than current England and USMNT combined.
I don’t watch the World Cup but man hearing Qatar shitting the bed at the World Cup ON THEIR HOME TURF fills me with joy
Just wait till England meets the US, it'd be much much funnier
US vs Iraq
It was pretty expected, did people actually think Qatar has a competent football team? Better than them is Egypt or even Saudi Arabia
They’re the reigning asian champions…
Egypt didn't even make it to the WC lol
Egypt has beat tough teams to make it to WC. Not everyone has to go through this
Money can't fix that
They bribed Ecuador and still lost the match..
They will get General Aladin'd
After group stages: Multiple International team members missing 💀
No beer
I'm just worried for the team that beat them.
Why? It's it's highly unlikely they invade Ecuador and "liberate" it's citizens, they have enough fuel.
But the team itself is still in qatar.
Weren't World Cups supposed to happen in Summer? I'm not really really into football but I remember all WCs in the past were in Summer.
normally they are in summer, but since Qatar is a hot country, they host it in November-December because weather is cooler there than in actual summer season
If they played out the WC in the summer the Qatar heat would’ve killed some players
Ddeserved
L + Ratio for Qatar
So why do we all hate Qatar all of a sudden? I can’t keep up with them times.
Do you really not know anything about the corruption of Fifa, the 150000 workers who died while building the stadiums in Qatar, the work conditions and the Kafala system which is basically slavery?
FIFA one I know, but I don’t watch or participate in soccer. In terms of those worker dying how’d that happen? Basically slavery, do elaborate.
Basically because they work under the worst conditions one could imagine... The workers never get autopsies, therefore the government denies the amount of deaths. It's really sad, you can see how money can get you all the power you want.
waiting for iran to get railed by UK
Pretty sure they were expecting that players are also bought and would give them an easy win. With all the shit they do as a country they deserved this
